This is a legitmate phone number for numerous State of MO agencies, not just Revenue.

I received a call from this number. When I answered, they hung up. I attempted to call back, said it was not a working number. First of all, I am a State employee and pay my taxes each year. If I don't, I lose my job. No voice mail was left.

This phone is a valid number for the Department of Revenue. It is a call center which they are on a hotline. You can call the State operator and they can comfirm that this is a valid number. They are trying to get ahold of someone at that number becasue of either a income tax or business tax debt.

We received a call from 573-526-5249. If the MO DOR wants to get a hold of me about my taxes, then why don't they send a letter? This sounds like a scam to me. We've all been warned to NEVER give our SS # to someone who calls. The DOR knows that, so why would they ever call and ask for it? I am not returning the call. I don't owe any taxes. They can send me a letter if they need to reach me.

This phone number is legit. It belongs to the Missouri Department of Revenue, i.e., the MO tax dept. I owe, I owe, so off to work I go....

I just called back the number and it said that it was a Beverly Coleman's voicemail and to leave a message. It called me and told me that I hadn't filed my 2006 Missouri taxes and to fax them to 573-522-6922

It doesn't mean you owe them nessisarily. I just had a call from them and it was because they never recieved my 06' filing. Which means that I forgot to mail or it was lost. In my case I work in another state which at the time MO fully credits you for money paid into another state. And the state I work in has higher income taxes. But I did have to ask the woman to NOT say my SS# over the phone which I will be writing a letter to Mr. Nixon about. However I will say I am pleased to see MO acting doing some checks and balances! Its about time!

I actually called to report this number as a consumer scam to the attorney general Jay Nixon's office. They told me it actually is a legit number for the DOR and there is something questionable about your taxes. They said the DOR outsources a third party company to do the calling, but recommended that if you're more comfortable with calling the "real" DOR number to look that up (online or phone book) and continue the call that way. She said they have had a lot of calls/questions about this number but it is real. Hope this helps!

I received a call from this number twice on my work phone - in Jan and Feb, 2008.
I actually returned the call the first time in January, but told the person I would not give my SSN over the phone. She confirmed by name/city/state on the phone, which I regretted. She told me it concerned money due the state, but after I would not give her my SSN she told me she did not know why I was called, and would remove my number from her list.
I opened a case on-line with the Missouri Attorney General last in January about this, but have not been asked for more information.
I was planning to call the Mo Dept of Revenue today since I the scammer (?) left another message.

An automated message says to call back regarding an important matter and to have your Social Security Number when you call back. This sounds like a scam.
