I once told someone that if ignorance were corn flakes, he'd be General Mills. Only General Mills doesn't make corn flakes. Still funny, though.

I got a call from this number. Didnt pick up since I was on another call. Stupidly called back and it asked to press a digit to be removed from this list. And I hit a number :( realized later it could be a scam. What do I do now? :(

Left a message saying that they will put a security system in the house in exchange for a small sign in the yard.

I just got a call from this number while trying to text my friend. I did not pick up the phone so I didn't know what it was all about. I live in a different area code so I thought the "575" was awfully strange.

I got a call from this company and it asked if I was interested in a free security system if we agree to put a sign in our front yard. I hit "1" for details and it hung up. Next day very nice guy called back to give me details. The install is free but the service is not. He asked me what I am doing to protect my valuables while I'm away and I said "I don't go away". He then quoted me a price and at the end asked which day, today or tomorrow, that they could come do the install. I said I'd have to discuss with my husband as it's not an expense we were planning on nor did I know if we could be available and asked what his call back # was. He said "we don't have a call back number, this is a promotional company and this is a call center". I said "ok, give me the phone # to customer service" and he said that's only for existing customers. When I said "no thanks" he got snarky and said "fine, it's a great deal, i'll just give it to someone else" and hung up on me. Afterwords here is what I realized:
Scam alert
- act now or lose out (no real company calls you with a deal, expecting you to spend money, and it only lasts 48 hours)
- we're in your area today and tomorrow but hadn't asked for my address yet (and no way to tell since my phone # is from NYC and i live in PA)
- never once mentioned company name, just launched into services (no real company calls without giving you name)
Possible uses for scammed info
- first question was existing security system (now they know if they can break in or not)
- when will you be home for install (now they know when you'll be home and when you won't be)
- address for install (now they have your address)
- credit card info for monthly installments (now they have authorization to charge your card)
- either they plan to rob you or charge your credit card until you have it cancelled
Block this number of i you have the ability to, report it!

This is strange I have had my cell phone for 2 years and have been lucky to never get wrong calls or calls like this. I only use the phone about 1 hour a month hardly used and I rarely give out the number. However, I am letting a friend parole out to my house and I received a call from a Federal parole agency ( I gave them my number to call) that needs to do a home inspection and right after the Feds called I started to get these type calls. I can not help that the calls are a way to hook our phones to the NSA or something like that. The message said, complete message, "If you want to stop these calls hit any digit on your phone" than it hung up. It seems like they needed me to hit a "digit" to do what they are doing.
Another call said something about the Federal government says there is a home broken into every 3 min and then if you don't want these calls hit the number 2 on your phone.
At any rate I never got these calls before the Federal parole people called me.

I got a missed call from this mysterious #number 5756137471 on 2014/3/13 @ 1:31 pm. I too HAD no voicemail as I never set one up months ago... I live in AZ tho? I called the # back and got a recording, "Please press any digit to be removed from this list, this may take 24 to 48 hours, thank you". It repeated 5 times then clicked to a disconnect tone.
Anywho, I instinctively pressed digit #1 for some odd reason...I usually pride myself on disobeying recorded messages. I pressed #1 because that is phone lingo for YES! ( now IDK if I really wanted to be removed from this list)
Did you or anyone else call the #number back, and/or press any digit to be removed from this list?
Just curious,
...

I live in AZ and received a call today from 575 613 7471. This phone number is connected to a gang of thieves from either India or Pakistan. They use a number of US based phone numbers, including this one. They ask for someone residing in my household. I do not confirm they are here. I ask them who they are and why they are calling. They say they are calling from "computer security department". I demand to know the company. This throws them off and they stammer and then say they are from Microsoft and that they received an alert that our computer has security problems. I have told them many times to stop calling. One guy said he'd put our number on do not call list but they keep calling. I have resorted to cursing them and abusing them with profanity, but I think they like it because they keep calling. They are the scum of the earth. They need to die a slow and painful death.

This phone number 575-613-7471 is connected to an ongoing scam. It is one of many USA numbers being used by scammers from India who claim they are from Microsoft security dept. They are trying to get you to give them your account numbers, passwords, etc. Sometimes the phone numbers from these people are blocked. Sometimes they are from your own state. They are scumbags.
