I just got a call from this number, from a guy named Cory. Same guy mentioned in one of the other notes by Chele G. I knew from the get go that something didn't sound right, so I told Cory (the scammer) that he needed to contact my CenturyLink Account Representative directly, because all account changes are handled through him. He immediately got defensive in telling me that I was wrong, and that my account manager had no authority to handle that. I made it very clear to him, that without him speaking to my account representative, I would not move forward. He kept interrupting me, telling me I was being rude and not professional, so finally I just hung up. He did not call back. But I have received numerous calls like this in the past several months. I will be tracking all the numbers and names and reporting them to the Better Business Bureau.

caller said he was Charles from the Verizon IT department and wanted to talk to someone about our billing being incorrect and we were due a credit of $10.13 per line and wanted me to give him the phone numbers that are on our account.  Told him he should already know that and continued to ask me so i told him i would have to get back to him and asked for the customer service number so i could call him back and he didn't know it and he said i could find it on my bill

I just received a ?courtesy?  phone call from a "Timothy Brown," stating that our phone service (Charter/Optimum) was changing long distance carriers.  That the information regarding this change had been in our last two bills, but that we had not responded to indicate our wishes (weather to change to the new one or keep the existing one).  If we did not authorize the change to the new long distance carrier - we would start getting two bills next month. One for our local bill from them (Charter) and one from the long distance carrier they were severing ties with.  If I authorized the new long distance carrier, I would save $16 per/month and of course just get one bill.  I told him that call him back & asked for his number.  He said to just call back at the number on my bill and as for the "updating" department, but that I probably wouldn't be able to get through due to very high call volumes.  I called Charter and they say I receive free long distance.

Just received the same call except they said they were from Verizon. Answered no questions, told them anything they needed would have to be done in writing and hung up.

I got the same call, but guy's name was Corey J. Johnson (even gave me middle initial). He says he is from CenturyLink and that their billing company that processes all their printed bills went bankrupt and they (CenturyLink) have switched to their own company (he called is LCD or LCR or something like that) for processing the billing. I asked him many questions to which he had an answer, but something didn't feel right so I put him on hold and called our rep who googled the phone number and told me it was a scam. He says he would know about anything like that and hadn't heard. Corey had me verify our address and at least three of our phone numbers. It was just weird and my instincts kicked in. He wanted me to do the verifying thing where I answer yes to all the questions. After speaking with our regular rep, I politely told him I would call him back if I find what he is saying to be valid and true. Follow your intuition on these calls!

Man called claiming to represent our billing accounts from Century Link and offering a billing credit due to billing format update.  Obviously the same scam reported at end of 2013 when attempting to represent AT&T.  Sounded suspicious, especially when the information on file was so outdated.  I told the man as much.  They disconnected the call when I refused to confirm any additional information stating they would have the correct information on file from CenturyLink.  Watch out, this is a scam.

Man said (John Wells) he worked for AT &T. Said that our business lines had been switched over the weekend to residential by mistake and that we were being charged for residential rates. He wanted phone numbers on our phone lines then he would get a verifier on the line. We are to say "yes" to all questions, then he will get back on the line to show how much money we will save. The verifier read from a "script" that said we would be switched to Consolidated Billing. I asked him if he was AT & T. He repeatedly said yes. I told him we had been scammed before. He said this is not a scam. When I continued to question him about what Consolidated Billing was about, he said he would call back. It was a call center with loud music and loud voices with other people calling. Another scam!

This is not AT&T.  It is a reseller trying to pretend they are AT&T
AT&T almost always calls from toll free number 800, 888 ect.

This is a scam. They try to say that they are switching billing providers and need to get verification from you. They don't ask for billing information, they try and lure you into telling you the phone lines that you have, then they record your voice, saying your name, and then they take that recording and switch your lines to a different carrier with higher bills.

called claiming to be from AT&T and needed to verify our billing address.
first off, we don't have a single account with at&t
second , we don't verify any information over the phone , it's all done by fax
and the guy asking the questions was beyond rude to the point of nearly abusive.
