Got this # from someone claiming to be a prospective buyer from an an add I had on Craigslist. They claimed to have a speech impairment and were requesting personal info from me.
Something seemed a bit fishy so I Googled the # and found 1 person that claimed this person was a Craigslist scammer.
Seller/buyer beware.

Speech problem, tried to buy my car with a certified check, asked for address, phone and all personal info.... reporting to craigslist as a continuing issue. i see they have been at it for a while, so i just wanted them to be aware they may be up and running again.

This number is back again, and they are still pulling the same scam. I'd love to see someone nail this person. It would be nice if Craigslist would clean up things and keep the scammers out.

well i got the same exact quote as scott who poste his mail that he got from this guy on aug 11 and im glad that i looked into to it. thanx for the people who put their comment about this guy, i think his name is mike bruce? atleast thats what i got.

I ALWAYS do a search on phone #'s to see if they really exist, etc. This # is based out of Oklahoma.  (I am in N.C.)

I am so tired of the scammers on craigslist that I havn't posted on there in awhile because of them.  I really wish someone from Craigslist could put an end to them!

yeah i got the same thing... they pissed me off they acutly called me back and told me never to call again..lol i know right?... I did a phone trace and got longitude and latitude cords... did a quick check and come up with 1401-1499 SW H Ave  lawton oklahoma went to google maps and found a house in that block with a few cars in the back yard with big privacy fence around it so contacted police depo and informed they r getting hold of lawton tommorw to see if they can take this person down.     ...:) dont mess with a geek   lol

His phone number is a LAND LINE in Lawton, Oklahoma.
I have also sent the police there the information I've found.

I got the exact same story as the rest of you. I work in fraud prevention and was immediately hesitant. Once I Googled the number, I simply sent the link to this website to "Mr. Austin James" saying I would not be able to sell him my car.

alady named lisa john emailed me about some furniturei had for sale she was speech impaired and the number 580-713-0074 was answered by a ip operator the name is raquel carrington and they have played me for days with this there shoul be a law against this

The person is at it again... I did not check the number until after I replied.

Ok so I tried calling the police department of the city that this phone number originates from and they told me that "Unless you have lost any money there is nothing we can do about it".

This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. They should take the tip or something. They can trace numbers to addresses and confront the person. They can get a warrant to search the house and then maybe take their computer and find the false interest in buying or where the person may have actually scammed someone and they can check bank account records and everything.

But I guess the stupid rednecks of Oklahoma cant seem to grasp the concept of taking down crime, even if its not the guy getting his riding lawn mower stolen down the street.

Whatever. This person will continue to take advantage of those selling on craigslist who don't even bother to check the phone number and find nothing suspicious about their responses.
