As stated in the prior messages the same happened to me. The number, 582-000-8293 is on my caller ID this morning on 07-25-2012 at 10:23 a.m. in the state of ILLINOIS. I was left a msg but dead air and a clicking noise on my voicemail. After searching this number online I found this site with comments. I'm curious what other states have been called by this intrusive and very invalid number. The best way to deal with calls like this is to have a privacy service added if your residential or cell provider offers it or contracts with a reliable privacy provider whom also safeguards your number and/or web info. There are web based companies that also provide residential, cell phonetic and/or internet privacy services out there and always safeguard your true IP while browsing a new or unknown site. Please remember to safeguard your personal info online and keep your business info seperate. Many times we post on sites and our IP address becomes visible, usually after we've posted with a comment or such. The site making your Ip visible is doing so usually without intent. However, there is always still some web savvy person with malicious intent, or using software intended for use of your IP address and any info connected to it. Even using your area wifi to do some damage without proper encoding or encryption. With the integration of social sites such as facebook being the largest in example, myspace, mylife, and so on, we undoubtedly store or place way too much personal info online. Yahoo and google are some of the original playgrounds for hackers and scammers. Security is always at risk, so please safeguard your web sharing or social media info as well. I realize there will be people who already know this and I mean to offend no one, but newbies beware, If you don't want it known don't let it be shown. Online scammers and hacking is very real as it still exists today in a trialing economy. It is still door to door or call to home and much of this info is sold or stolen and sometimes unknowingly posted. Always review a website privacy policy and/or a business privacy policy and when 'putting yourself out there'. Safeguard what you don't want visible or known. This is especially regarded to teens or to people who rarely use the internet. If you do receive a phone call like I did, report the number, date, time call was received, and message info if possible. If you straight dialed the number without dialing 1 first, chances are someone answers and hangs up, or your provider won't let you place the call. Next, when dialing the number with the 1+ that number, when connection to place the call responds with a that is an invalid number, the call repeats again then disconnects. The number calling you is often usually the result of a person placing a call to you through using a computer to call you. The number in our discussion is: 582-000-8293 as it appears on our caller ID along with the details stating name unknown where a name or business should be listed

Message to lower card rates. Pressed "9" and got real person. Hung up on me when I said to take me off their list. Is there anything I can do to aggravate THEM by keeping them on the line or something to that effect?

I got a call from this # on Wed, 7-18-12 but I did not answer. The area code was not familiar and 000 really made me skeptical. I just called the number on my cell phone and it said I couldn't get thru and to check my numbers. I dialed again using a 1 in front of the numbers and I got the same message. I'm sure it's because of the 000. I'm convinced this is some kind of scam.

Received call at 2:53 PM. Did not recognize number and had "Out Of Area" called ID. Let answering machine pick up call. Call did not immediately disconnect but logged silent message on answering machine. "Do Not Call" reporting system and other reporting web sites are thrown by the "000" in the phone number and totally prevent registering any complaint. I later received recording from telemarketing "Financial Center" at 503-457-1792 stating that they had given me many notices about my credit card account (annoyingly true) and this was the last chance for me to lower my interest rate (fat chance that it was the "last chance"). I am guessing that it was the same outfit.

Pretty much the same story as everyone else. The old "lower your credit card rates" scam. This is a spoofed number from thieves. Beware!

Scam for credit card, let the answering machine talk to this company. My sister almost got scam. They want credit cards numbers, etc. Three leaves leave it be.

Got a message from this number that said "congratulations, you are eligible to lower your interest rate on your account". Yea sure. I cannot believe how many numbers these scumbags use for this same scam. I never pick up, I just listen and laugh. Stupid.

I SPOKE WITH THE FCC.

Retired with time on my hands, I see how much info I can get before they get disgusted and hang up. After pressing 9, got a "John McDonald". In reply to my asking who was calling I got the following: "I have license #???? (he spoke too fast for me write the number down). I asked what state the license was in - he said "Alabama" which is curious since the area code is PA. Asked who issued it - he said Alabama Department of Consumer Affairs....only thing I could find with that name was Office of Consumer Affairs in the Attorney General's office. Asked again for company name and he hung up saying "Thanks for calling". Judging by noises in background this is a typical boiler room operation. Referencing one of the earlier comments about needing $3000 for them to "help" - I distinctly heard a person in the background say you needed at least $4000. Evidently, even crooks suffer from inflation.

Wow that was dumb. They don't want to leave any recordings to help identify their crimes!
Reading above, I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO likely to say "Yes, here is my CC# Mr. UNAVAILABLE from number ZERO!"
| LFrushon 2012-06-01 15:56:35 Unknown |
Keep getting calls from this number as well - have blocked them, but then they use a different number.

Got one too. I have adopted a "zero tolerance" policy with any calls that have "not provided", "unknown", "unknown caller", or any variation of the above. I used to allow my answering machine deal with them, but they seldom leave a message, or sometimes use a noise generator to try to fill up the machine. Now, I simply look at the caller ID, and if it says any of the above, I pick-up long enough to complete the call (1 sec.) and then promptly hang-up. They get charged for a completed call, and I don't have to listen to the phone ring. Then I come here and look-up the number. I am amazed at the amount crap I have avoided with this method. This method works, there is nothing they can do about it, and it is imensely satisfying to run up their bill. Repeat as often as necessary. :-)

I got same call as most of you. Pressed 9 ask not to be called again. She hung up before I was finished. I reported call to PSC but I'm not looking for any help from them. Not the first time I have made complaints without any results.

Received a call and hung up. Called right back to tell them to take me off the list. I actually DID get a human but she hung up. I called right back but got a recording saying I needed to dial one and area code in order for call to go through. I had. Tried several more time to call. Same problem.
| JIM 2012-03-24 01:29:15 Unknown |
I checked and there is no such area code as 582.

I got one today and I stated that I didn't want to pay any fees and she said it wouldn't cost any, that they weren't paid for job. But then she asked how much the fees were now and I said I didn't know, she said thank you sweetie, you just keep those high interest rates and hung up. I pay my bill before fee kicks in I am not worried but tired of BS calls.
