I received a call from this number this morning.  The gentleman who left the message barely spoke English and told me I needed to call the IRS right away about my problem. Said he was from IRS and I or my attorney need to call before legal action.  Caller ID showed out of area. Nothing about IRS.

Impersonating a Law Enforcement officer or Federal agency officer is a crime! Most of these callers are not in the US though, rather being in India or Pakistan. You can report these calls..

Voice message left by a man with a heavy Indian accent claiming to be from IRS. Very tough to understand because of the man's accent: "This message is intended for {my full name}. {First name}, the very second you receive this message, I need you or your attorney {mumbled word} to return the call. This {mumble word} is an extremely time-sensitive {mumbled words}. My name is Allen Drew {name was mumbled so this is just a guess} and I am calling from the IRS, Internal Revenue Service. {Mumble words} My number is 585-310-3285. I repeat my number is 585-310-3285. Don't try to disregard this message and {mumbled words} illegal take place {mumbled words}. We have determined that there is a deficiency in your income tax. Good bye and take care {my full name}.

Today is 02-24-2014. I recieved a phone call early in the morning from some guy 100% with an Iranian or Arminian accent (since I am too from that part of the world & can tell on the accent) calling himself Justin Conner working with the IRS department and left me a message to call him back urgently. I called back at this number 1-585-310-3285 and Baxter Cruze voice mail came, saying this is an IRS investigation department. Left couple of messages to see if they have the balls to call me back. SCAM written all over them. Be Aware and don't give them or anyone your personal information especailly over the phone. IRS does not make phone calls like this. If IRS needs you for something, then they will inform you in writing. I will report them to the FBI.

>>> "Chris Miller" called an identified himself as IRS inspector. <<<

Please see my post in the 800notes.com forums about these types of calls.  Just click here to see
"Fake IRS agents and magicJack numbers:"
http://800notes.com/forum/ta-97219e249ee2fc8/ ... gicjack-numbers

Note that I am not impugning either the magicJack company or YMAX Communications in any way -- it's just that their service and devices have proven convenient for scammers.

I also suggest that you make a simple demand of people who call and claim that you will be arrested immediately.  Demand the number of your local IRS Taxpayer Advocate's Office so you can call them immediately and ask for a hearing because "You face (or your business is facing) an immediate threat of adverse action."  (They probably can't actually get you a "hearing," but this is one of the ways you can qualify for help from them.)  There really are such offices and you can look up their numbers on the Internet, or you can get IRS Publication 1546, which contains a list of them.  There are other ways to get this list or just your local Advocate's Office, but I am deliberately being vague here because I don't want to make it too easy for foreign scammers to get this list.

This demand may by itself either scare or confuse the heck out of the scammer or force him to improvise from his script, because he is unlikely to know that there even is such an office (there is) or how to contact them.  And once they are scared or confused, you'll know it and you'll be in the driver's seat.

Yes I would send the information to the FBI. They also called our cell phone stating the same thing, We immediately filed a police report and will be contacting the IRS during their normal business hours. As this scum bag called us on a Saturday! I fought back with him when he threaten us with the US Marshal coming to our home to arrest my husband. When I READ HIM THE FRAUD COMPLAINTS posted on the IRS. this creep said. "you got me, are you going to report me?" I hung up.

Indian man claiming to be from IRS called at 8:30 on Saturday morning - caught me just waking up.  Told me IRS had been sent a registered letter to my address that was returned to office because no one home to sign for it.  Confirmed my correct address.  Said to call 585-310-3285 and give a case number he gave me and that my case officer, Officer Dexter Cruise, would explain issue with my last tax return.  I called.  Phone answered by man that sounded the same.  He asked my name.  I told him I had a case number.  He demanded my name.  I told him I would give him my case number.  He told me that he would see me in court and hung up.  I looked up number on internet and saw all of the posts.  Do not give this man any information.

After reading these other posts, I'm surprised the 585-310-3285 number is a working number, and not a spoofed number. Everyone should call this number continuously, as many times as possible. Please state that you are Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. from the FBI. Tell whoever answers that you want to talk to "Alfredo Lasagna".

Thank you.

Received call on 2/19/2014 at 11:22 AM: Caller left voice message from 585-310-3285. Speaker has heavy foreign accent, claiming to be "Alan Berg" from the IRS. Claimed a "discrepancy" in a tax return and needed an immediate call back. I reported on FBI tip site also as fraudulent activity with voice mail available and the number. FBI likely gets hundreds of these reports a day, but I feel it is good to report and hope they will shut these guys down.

Prank Call
In the last few days, I've been repeatedly harassed by this telephone number 585-310-3285, constantly leaving me voicemail messages which I couldn't understand, except the word 'IRS' and she sounded urgent and has a very thick Indian accent.  Then again this morning at 7:43 AM (EST), she called again, the same Indian woman, and I accidentally picked up the phone by mistake, so I spoke to her briefly as I was curious to find out what?s going on.  She identified herself from IRS but I couldn't understand any of her conversation or who she's trying to reach and when I asked her to spell the name for me, I still couldn't understand!!    So I decided to call back, instead of the Indian woman, a man answered and when I told him someone was trying to contact me but I couldn't understand who she's trying to reach, without asking me any question, he told me that they are looking for 'John'.  At this point, I think they are "high-tech" and probably identified my phone with the caller ID, so I asked who's John because I have two family member with the name ?John? and same last name.  He couldn't answer me but said to me 'John' lives at this street address which belongs to me.  I realised who that 'John' might be as he had used my address for some of his mail in the past but never the IRS.  Besides, he files his own income tax using his own home address and his own telephone number, not mine!!!  I immediately felt suspicious as most of the time IRS would identify the person with the SS#, not the street address.  I told him that I would contact John and asked who should he be looking for when call back.  He said to call back 'Dexter Cruz' or 'Baxter Cruz'.  He sounded rude and is not a professional like and IRS rep would be.  I then called 'John' and related the message.  'John' called back 585-310-3285 and it's 'Cruz' who answered the phone, 'Cruz' told 'John' that 'John' had owe IRS lots of money and threatened to send IRS police to the house to arrest 'John' and put 'John' in jail for 5 years if the outstanding balances are not paid up.  'John' questioned ?Cruz? why there?s never a letter received regarding the delinquency.  ?Cruz? claimed that a couple of letter were sent by ?Registered? mail in December but was returned back to them and therefore they are taking the last action to contact ?John? by phone (through me !!!) ?John? finds it suspicious but let 'Cruz' to continue his nonsense.  Apparently, 'Cruz' might be looking to get a check from ?John? but ?John? just hung up the phone after telling ?Cruz? to send the IRS police to arrest him!!

This is definitely a SCAM.  Why would they contact me to look for a family member using my cell phone number and my home address?   Please ignore all messages and calls from this phone number.  If someone could identify where the origin of this phone number 585-310-3285, they should contact the local police to arrest them.
