I Have Been Called
VoltDelta persistently works to ensure Directory Assistance listings are accurate as a core provider of the National Directory Assistance (411) database. Part of this effort requires automated calls to randomly selected telephone numbers within the Directory Assistance database to confirm line status. Your number may have recently been called to simply verify that your phone number is active.
Please note that the called party does not have to do anything in response to these calls. Also note that numbers are not re-dialed for six months or longer, and then only if a potential problem within our database appears to exist. VoltDelta Directory Assistance verification calls are conducted in accordance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations. We understand these calls may inadvertently cause your concern and apologize for any inconvenience.
If you have any questions you can call 855-815-7632 between 8:30am-12:00pm and 1pm to 4pm EST (except weekends and holidays).
FAQs
Why are you calling me?
VoltDelta conducts call verification efforts to ensure Directory Assistance listings are as accurate as possible. A proliferation of carriers, mergers among telecommunication providers, and telephone number portability are all contributors toward listing errors. VoltDelta is working to ensure Directory Assistance is as accurate as possible for those that have listed their telephone numbers as well as for the telecommunication carriers providing listing detail.
Are VoltDelta's automated calls permitted by law?
Yes. The use of automated calls is governed at the federal level by the Federal Communications Act and FCC regulations. The FCC's regulations permit automated calls that "are made for a commercial purpose but [do] not include or introduce an unsolicited advertisement or constitute a telephone solicitation." VoltDelta is conducting automated calls for Directory Assistance verification, which do not constitute "telephone solicitations." VoltDelta also complies with state laws that regulate automated calls.
I am on a Federal and/or State Do Not Call list, why are you calling me?
Do Not Call Lists work to prevent calls for solicitation purposes. VoltDelta is not soliciting any business from you. VoltDelta calls are being made to verify telephone number for those that have listed their telephone number for Directory Assistance.
Can I be removed from VoltDelta verification calls?
Yes. You can permanently remove your telephone number from VoltDelta Directory Assistance call verification by calling 855-815-7632. An agent is available from 8:30am-12:00pm and 1pm to 4pm EST (except weekends and holidays) to speak with you. You can also leave a message during hours not covered by an agent.
I have other questions, how can I get them answered?
You can speak to a VoltDelta agent by calling 855-815-7632 between 8:30am-12:00pm and 1pm to 4pm EST (except weekends and holidays).
Where are these calls being generated from?
VoltDelta in Rochester NY.

They called my unlisted number to "verify the directory listing" I think what happened is I changed phone company and according to the FCC when you change phone company you need to re-register for the do not call list. So based on the number dropping off the do not call list they may be calling to verify it's still active and then sell it as an active number that's not on the do not call list. I started getting some other solicitation calls a few days later.

If a bill collector has been trying to get you to answer the phone, they probably use these people to try and confirm your identity. Just ignore them.

To Volt Delta:  Even though you insist this is not solicitation and therefore not under the directives of the Do Not Call List, I fully intend to report this to my state Attorney General as I consider it harrassment since I pay to have an unlisted # and am on the do not call list.  If we all do the same, perhaps these "non-solicitation" calls will be added to the do not call list of people who may not bother us in our homes.  Leave us alone and stop invading our privacy.

I did call  someone at the 855-715-7632 number and the person who answered was absolutely clueless.  I asked her why I would get a call when I had an unlisted number, and why any company would need to verify that unlisted number.  She could not answer other than to say she was not high enough up on the company chain to have those answers and that maybe calls were placed sequentially.  It is just wrong to make calls like this.  I would much rather take a chance that I would not be listed than to be bothered with calls like this.  What I find very interesting is that just yesterday I had a call from a friend in the Rochester area, and then today, I get this call.  Please leave me alone and before you place any calls, check to see what nunbers are listed and DO NOT call any unlisted numbers, sequentially or otherwise.  It is no wonder people are signing up in droves for the DO NOT CALL list and paying for unlisted numbers.  I think this kind of call should be covered under the do not call list and I have long felt that we who pay for our residential services should have the absolute right to choose who may call us.

I have an unlisted phone number.  Why is it coming up in your directory assistance when I pay to have it unlisted?

I also have an "unlisted" tx number thru Comcast. Every single one of the phone providers are selling your number whether you agreed to it or not, because they make money from selling it. My volume of unsolicited calls has more than quadrupled since I changed to Comcast. One more month and I can go back to Via Talk. When I had them I never had a problem with my number being passed around like it was on a postcard in all of the state prison systems.

Telemarketer
Many, post here defending the Robo Call by quoting the foot note in the robo marketer's website.  It is simple as follows: when a caller, robo or not robo, offers up a request to be removed from their calling list,(like their list is superior over the DNC list in which was set up to barr them) then the call is a telemarketer call. These type of companies are verifying your number is active, so they can sell it in a spam list package, including the new breed of spam calls that are digitizing your voice, and computerized matching that voice with other voice data basing services. (you know the ones that call, say nothing then hang up on you) God knows where that's heading, but you can be assured, it's just beginning and has up-to-no-good written all over it.  So.... How did companies like this get our numbers ? They obtained it legally by a third party that was given, yes, given the number by us, the number user. (note I used the term user, and not owner) somewhere you gave it to a store, paper, magazine, car mechanic, subscription service, any business, it just needs to be one is all; that company then sold your number to a buyer and under the agreement for buying the number you gave to the service you used, the marketing company now becomes a third party partnership and is protected because they are now considered to be a partnership in the company we gave our number to. The protection clause they must use per FCC is an opt out option, that's it. Now they can't be cited or sued. (like that happens unless we hire someone, but we don't) If for some reason or act of God the marketer was ordered to cease, they have already sold or will recycle us.   Whenever there is an opt out of their call list being offered, they are pretty much protected, and even when you opt out, they have already partnered with another company (sometimes under the same roof) who now has the same right as the company we gave our number to in the first place.  All we can do is block the calls, they use a new number, we block, they use another, we block and so on and so on....  They can bite the big one !

It?s gonna be real funny when NoMorobo.com starts blocking their routine verification calls!

For those who don?t know:

NoMorobo.com is the winner of the FTC challenge, and is a free service that blocks most robocalls. If your phone provider offers ?simultaneous ring?, it?s well worth the time it takes to configure it!

I really hate to be insulting, but "can you read?", a very detailed explanation was written, followed by at least two other people confirming calls they had received.

Then you write about hundreds of dollars worth of charges and scam written all over it?

Please use this forum for information and not opinions based on no factual proof.

Got a call from these clowns this evening while I was driving to an appointment. I was forwarding my home number to my mobile because I was waiting for an important call. Instead, I got a robo call telling me VoltDelta was confirming my number for their directory. WTH? MY NUMBER IS UNLISTED! They'd better not be giving out my unlisted number. That's why it's unlisted (duh!). I tried to call the number that they left to talk to a real person (855-815-7632), but their live call center had closed about 2 hours earlier at 4pm EST. Where did they get my unlisted number, why are they calling me and why is my number in their directory? Jerks.

I got a call from this number this afternoon at 4:31.  It was a robo call from Volt Delta LLC and the prerecorded message stated that they were calling from Rochester, New York and they said something about a phone directory, checking to see if this number worked.  The message also said that we could call the same number back to be removed from the directory..

I called Volt Delta - I have Time/Warner as my carrier - my number is unpublished/unlisted, but my name got out on a list anyway to VoltDelta.  T/W indicated it was in error - DUH!  AND I'm paying 4.95 a month to have my number unpublished/unlisted.  What morons.

Lucky for me my answering machine and fax are not quite hooked up properly (and I may leave it that way). They got the fax sound first, but it will go to voicemail, but solicitors always hang up. I also have TWC for phone, so adding them to my blocked numbers.
