I received a call from this number from a person named investigator Russell regarding a civil matter.  I returned the call and the message states that the person is on the phone and leave a message.  Does anyone know who these people are?

I received  a call today about a relative.  Same thing, they say they are sherriff and my neice is to appear in court. They found me in public records and need me to contact my neice.  I have a listed phone number.  I felt it was suspicious so I let them talk. The man said they are going to put her in jail but I can pay today and they will drop the case.  I called my friend who is a paralegal and she told me there has been thousands of complaints and it was good I didn't pay them .  Don't take the call and whatever you do don't pay them.  They called me twice today and left enough of a message to make me want to respond.  I thought it was about me at first.  They just said it was a case # 4446 and to call immmediately.  Why would a sherriff call a person if they had to come to court?  I dn't know why I fell for this BS !

This guy calls and says he is from the sherriff's office and that my relative (who happens to be 16 years old) has not paid her payday loans and has an upcoming court date. He said he got my name online along with some other family members while trying to collect a debt. He said she is going to be in a lot of trouble if she doesn't show - then he wants to know if I want to pay it for her so she doesn't go to jail. Told him I am going to call the sherriff on him if he calls me again. UNREAL
