At first we fell for the scam. They stated that they're IRS, and they've audited our taxes, and we owe an additional $4,750. After listening to them for a while, I realized he's not a professional. And finally hung up on him. But it was a close call. They wanted me to get the cash asap, and then they'd tell me what to do with it. Thank God I figured it out just in time. Be careful friends. Susan.

After reading all the pervious comments I confirm that it's the same caller, same number and a TOTAL SCAM!!! beware and just call the IRS directly!! (585-633-3780)

6/10/14 at 10.31 am. received call fro IRS threatening immediate legal action if I did not call them back in a "time sensitive" fashion. The usual poor quality audio as reported by others was presented. I also get constant 'last chance' calls from "Card Services" offering to lower my interest rate etc. etc. Card Services has many many different caller ID numbers. Despite my best efforts I cannot stop their harassment. This has been going on for months. HELP !

This is some coward hiding behind a magicJack device plugged in at some God-forsaken corner of the world where there is Internet service. He's no better than a common criminal using a magicJack device and your fear the same way a common thief uses a toy pistol hidden in the pocket of his overcoat to make a bulge that looks like a real gun.
You can verify that this is a magicJack number by searching for it at http://www.phonevalidator.com .
This scam has been extensively researched at
http://www.pindropsecurity.com/consumer-fraud ... irs-phone-scam/ and it was found that magicJack numbers are frequently used, and many of the scammers are operating out of India. There is even an audio recording of a call returned to one of these numbers and a written transcript of the recording contained in links from the Pindrop Security blog.
MagicJacks are readily obtainable outside of the United States for about $100 US and can come with up to a year of free calling to the U.S. and Canada. In India, see, for example,
http://magicjack.in .
In addition to the regular reporting channels, e.g., the Department of the Treasury, the FTC, and/or your local state attorney general's office, you might also report the abuse to YMAX Corp. I have seen reports that they are pretty good at responding to complaints and may be able to permanently shut off a magicJack device, if necessary, so that it can never be used again.
The YMAX Corp. main web page is at:
http://www.ymaxcorp.com
and their site giving information on how to lodge a complaint is at:
http://www.ymaxcorp.com/contact.html
Note that the "contact" website gives a clickable link to a "live chat" where you can make your complaint.

Received a call from 585-633-3780 claiming he was from the IRS yesterday and today (Saturday). Thick Indian accent. The IRS always sends you a letter when they want something. No phone calls in the beginning. AND, the IRS does NOT work on Saturday.

I got a call from this number and they left a voice mail. I returned the call and they told me IRS is sueing me for stealing from the goverment on my taxes for the last 7 years. He told me the IRS ws going to have a police arrest me and that if i wanted to stop the process i would need to pay $5,455.00 now, immediately. I finally realized this was a scam and hung up but to begin with I believed he was from th IRS. HOW WE CAN STOP THIS FROM HAPPENING TO OTHER PEOPLE

YMAX = Magic Jack. Simple as that. Your caller is a fraud. Probably Indian or Pakistani. Most likely Indian. Ignore the calls. The clueless Indians have been spoofing the 202 area code for years. They're not very bright. They think that Americans are more likely to answer a call from the DC. They figured out that we are far less likely to answer a call from DC than anywhere else. So they switched.... to an area code that is known to be the universal home of the fraudulent debt collection industry. As I said, the Indian frauds are not very bright.
On the bright side (for them), the Indian frauds are slightly smarter than the Jamaicans. Not that that takes much....
Be Safe. Be Aware.

Caller ID said: YMAX COMMS CORP. 585-633-3780. Same voice mail as others claiming to be IRS, "Call immediately before legal accusations are made..... "Your tax return was deficient". Very strong accent.

Just received this same call from 585 633 3780 claiming to be from IRS. Ignored.
| Margaret 2014-06-06 12:31:04 Unknown |
The messages (2) on my voice mail were from a man who identified himself as Agent Dowling Parker from the IRS. He said that I or my attorney must call back immediately; otherwise, he said that "all I can say is good luck". Both calls were identical in wording (as far as I could tell; he had a very strong accent), leading me to believe that it was scripted. I lodged a complaint with the IRS and the FTC.

My call came in at 8:30 AM today. Same scam with the IRS. I'm not even sure that there was a human being on the line. It sounded more like a tape recording. I couldn't understand half of what she said. But, knowing that I got this year's refund check with no problems, I figured that it was a scam. I'm sure you'll all agree with me, but I am so sick and tired of not being able to casually pick up my phone when it rings but, instead, have to screen all of my calls in order to avoid the scammers, telemarketers and fund raisers. I wish there was a way to stop it, don't you? My call came in from :
585-633-3870. I did NOT call them back.

I just got the call as well. The person left a voicemail and claimed she was Hanna and from the IRS. These fake calls are on the rise. Yesterday, got called from some idiot claiming to be from Federal Dept saying that someone was coming to arrest in 45 minutes. it was a call from 646-503-1213.
