I got a voicemail from this number at my work and home.  I called him back and all he would tell me was that he worked for the legal dept for Cash Loan.  He claimed that a cash loan place had filed a claim against me for non payment.  When I asked him which company and what was their phone number, he was very evasive and wouldn't give me any information.  Then he said that there was a pending lawsuit!  I told him that I have to receive something in writing if it refers to a lawsuit, he said they didn't have to do that!  I know that is bull sh*t!!!!!  He wouldn't let me get a word in edgewise, when I asked him if I could talk and for him to slow down his speech a bit, he hung up!  Then I called back and asked for a supervisor and he said there wasn't one and again hung up on me.  Do like I did, file a complaint with the FTC!!!!!

Not sure what can be done but these people are ignorant. They repeatedly call my phone for my fiancee, call his phone and his work phone. They leave very detailed messages about owing debt and taking him to court (which by law they cannot do, if they are a legitimate debt collector). They have very thick accents and are very evasive when you ask them questions about their company. They actually told me today, Friday, that he has a court appointment tomorrow, Saturday! I called back many times and they would answer the phone "What?" if they answered at all. They told me that he owes a significant amount and that he has 3 allegations against his social security number and demanded payment. I told them that what they are doing is illegal and considered harassment and they told me that the calls would not stop. I have filed a complaint with the FTC and am going to file a complaint with my local police department. Since little is known about this company, i'm not sure what will be done, but at least it's a start.

Few months later i get a call and it states same thing, non payment of the loan i took  so i say to the guy the place you represent  did not deposit the money,he says a lot of stuff, like, FBI, Sheriff, Police, 6-8 months jail time , but when i asked who when and what he said i do not have to tell you any thing, i say you have to notify me by legal papers being served to me by a civilian or law enforcement person, he say do i wish to fight the case, i say you never deposited the money, also he wanted me to agree to pay him 5000 grand in settlement, off course my response was , whaaat, you did not deposit the money so why should i pay 5000 grand, that includes the loan i took and lawyer fee, other wise a lawsuit against me. This happened this spring i been waiting since.

I received a call from a Collection Agency at phone # 323-928-9852 back July 14 and 15, 2010.  The Agency left a very sketchy message from a middle-eastern gentlemen that I could hardly understand.  I tried to call back the Agency, but when attempted to do so, the mailbox 3001431 was full and hung up.  I tried back 2 days later and the same results.  I callback today July 19, 2010 and actually received a agent.  His name was Jason Floyd (employee number Q09780).  He advised me that this was a call that was from Cyber Crime Division Law Office. Represented from Attorney Jimmy Mactell at phone # 585-708-0360.  He said this was a debit going to court and that a office should be coming to the house within the next day, if I did not settle this debit.  He advised me that I could pay the amount of $523.11 and with in 1 hour a confirmation would come to me by email and within 10-15 days I would receive all paperwork that discloses all debit occurred.  I had asked for a copy all paperwork 1st and tried to ask question regarding the debit and he could reveal any information.  In fact I had asked about there Business License information and mailing address and all he wanted to do was connect me to his Supervisor- who was Jimmy Mactell (who I told was the Attorney).  This man wanted to go round and round with me and all I wanted was some legitimate information.  I advised the man that I was going to check with the FBI and better business bureau to make sure everything was on the up and up.  We ended the call and I called the attorney's phone number and reached (after 8 rings) another middle-eastern gentlemen by the name of Steven- who wanted to directly connect me to the Attorney Jimmy Mactell.  All the phone did was ring and ring and no answer.  I shortly went on Google and entered in all the phone numbers and name and came across multiple comments from people just like me with the same concerns.  I called the Henderson Police Dept. and was advised to write your agency regarding this possible fraud. There was another common factor with my research. the amount in question seems to be the same when they give that information. the name comes up with several phone numbers and are listed on 800.com

Got a call from these clowns today. They had me worried at first because they had my number and name. Im curious to know if they had my social. They said I had to pay IMMEDIATELY.  Then they tipped me off.  First time I talked with them I could have sworn the guy said $523 but then when I called back a second time it was $502...Hmmmm.

Another tipoff something was wrong was when they stated their closing times. First it was within an hour which would have been 1pm for me then it was 6pm the second or third time I call. They wanted me to pay as soon as possible. But their stories kept changing up. I also noticed that when I get one person he or she would pass the phone to someone else. It was ridiculous.  Like everyone else here I demanded documentation or the name of the company who I owed and they wouldnt give it to me. They also wouldnt tell me the amount owed other than THEIR settlement agreement.

I then kept on pressing these guys after reading this webpage about other people's experiences. He said word for word what was said here about how the authorities or court was coming for me.  Well I called him on his bluff and now they wont accept my calls. Hilarious.

Update: Just called again and now all of a sudden the person is "unavailable" when at first they were all available. Funny how things turn. THANK YOU EVERYONE HERE FOR SHARING YOUR STORY.

I came so close to sacrificing my rent money because I didnt want to go to court!! THANKS!! I hope my story will help others.

They are extremely rude and I have filed complaints against them with the FTC and am going to with my local police department. She kept yelling and saying the cops were on their way to get me, blah blah blah. I just told her OK, I will be waiting outside B**CH!!!!!

I got the same phone call at work this morning. A lady said that she was calling to inform me that I would be served with legal papers tomorrow morning at work for a lawsuit that has been filed against me. I immediately asked her what the hell she was talking about and she said she was transferring me to her "Senior Attorney." Another foreigner got on the phone and said his name was Kevin Foster and he started going into some spill about Quick Cash of America suing me for violation of banking and check fraud. I told him I had no idea what he was talking about and he said that I could settle for $633.00 or I would end up paying $4327.00 after I went to court. When I asked him for his phone number so my attorney could call him he gave me the number and hung up on me. So when I got off work today I called the number back and demanded that all legal paperwork be faxed to my attorney. He started yelling at me and said he had to mail it then he hung up on me. I have called back about 15 times so I can show this sorry sack of s*** what it feels like to be HARRASSED. I say we all call the number every 5 minutes and just randomly cuss him out. It's the least we could do!!! HAHA

Consumer Alert: Attorney General warns Kansans of debt collection scam

January 29, 2010 -- Attorney General Steve Six is cautioning Kansas consumers about telephone calls from apparent fake debt collectors who are impersonating law enforcement officers in an effort to extort money from consumers.   Consumers are warned to not submit payments to these fraudulent debt collectors.

When calling, the scammers most often state they are attempting to collect a debt related to an internet payday loan obtained by the consumer, but which the consumer never repaid.  Consumers state they have never obtained such a loan or paid off the loan years ago.  The scam artists have most recently identified themselves as ACS, National Affidavit Processing Department and United Financial Crime Division, but may use additional phony names.  It appears the phone numbers used by the scammers are ?spoofed? numbers, so that the number appearing on a consumer?s caller ID is not the actual number of where the call originated. It appears the calls in question may be originating from outside the United States.

When questioned, the individual calling refuses to disclose the full name or address of the collection agency they claim to represent.  These scammers have been able to provide consumers with identifying information, such as the consumer?s social security number, home address, e-mail address, names of family members and the consumer?s computer IP address.  Since the callers are able to provide valid personal information, consumers may become confused and believe they are being contacted in regard to a legitimate debt.

If the initial debt collection scam is unsuccessful, consumers have been re-contacted months later with the scammers posing as law enforcement officers or officers of the court.  Typically, the consumer is threatened with arrest for fraud or some other fictitious crime unless the consumer agrees to immediately wire money via Western Union.  The fictitious officers strive to frighten and confuse consumers into compliance by using legal sounding terms such as ?We?re filing an affidavit against you? or by stating a lawsuit has been or is in the process of being filed against the consumer.

A hallmark of each scam has been calling consumers repeatedly at their place of employment.  This scam hit home when an employee of the Kansas Attorney General?s Office was repeatedly called both on her cell phone and at work.  Despite the employee?s repeated verbal disputes, the caller refused to provide any identifying information to allow her to send a written dispute. The scammer also continued to call her numerous times a day regarding a payday loan she denied obtaining. Two months later, she was again contacted by telephone by an individual identifying himself as an ?officer?.

?I denied owing the debt and refused to pay without being provided validation of the debt. I was then told, ?If that?s the case, I will have local law enforcement come to your place of business and drag you out kicking and screaming?,? stated the employee.

?It is important for consumers to know their rights under the law,? Attorney General Six said. ?If a consumer is receiving calls from a debt collection company and believe it is a scam, I encourage them to contact our office immediately.?

Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), collectors are required to send consumers a written notice within five days of the initial contact.  The notification should contain  information such as the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed and a statement informing the consumer they have thirty days to contact the debtor in writing to dispute the debt or request validation of the debt. In addition, legitimate debt collectors are prohibited by the FDCPA from making false or misleading representations, such as the consumer has committed a crime, implying nonpayment will result in the consumer?s arrest, or using the threat of violence.

More information is available on the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act at http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf.

A female called our office today from this number looking for an employee, they did have the actual name of an individual who works here. She identified herself as being from a law firm called Cyber Crimes Division. When I asked again what the name of the law firm was (because that is not a firm but is a division of the FBI) she repeated the same thing. She said there were charges being filed against this employee and I needed to get them the message immediately. It is fortunate for our employee that our policy is never to verify employment status over the phone. When reading the other posts it seems they are changing their tactic from debt collection to criminal investigations.

If you are targeted by these criminals, be sure to report them to all the following federal and state law enforcement agencies (most of which you can do online or over the phone):
1.    The U.S. Secret Service is responsible for protecting the country's financial infrastructure and payment systems from international and domestic threats. Call or write your local Secret Service field office to alert them to the details of this attempted extortion. The addresses and phone numbers for the local Secret Service field offices are listed at http://www.secretservice.gov/field_offices.shtml or in your phone book.
2.    Alert the FBI at https://tips.fbi.gov Be sure to tell the FBI that you are being targeted by extortionists over the phone. And if the crooks claim to be law enforcement or lawyers, officers of the court or bankers, be sure to include that information in your report.
3.    File a complaint with your local police. Most police departments will take a report over the phone.  Be sure to tell them that you're being targeted by an extortionist and give them all the details.
4.    File a complaint your state's attorney general, the contact information for whom is at www.wvago.gov
5.    File a complaint online with The Federal Trade Commission at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en
If these crooks call back, promise them nothing, pay them nothing and tell them nothing other than that you know they're a scam and that you've reported them to law enforcement. (And be sure to report them to all the agencies above each time they call you.)

By the way, here's just a small sample of numbers used by this particular group of scammers. Read the reports and you'll see the same pattern time and again -- phony organization names, thick foreign accents, and oddly worded threats that are so melodramatic and ridiculous that it's laughable:

Scam alert: Bogus debt collectors
By Leslie McFadden ? Bankrate.com
Monday, Aug. 3
Posted 2 p.m.
Bankrate reporter Leslie McFadden contributed this entry.
This scam isn't technically about credit cards, but it is scary enough to post a warning. The Better Business Bureau issued an alert today saying consumers across the country are getting phone calls from bogus debt collectors claiming default on a payday loan. Of course, the consumer needs to pay a large fee to avoid arrest -- as much as $1,000.
The caller poses as a lawyer, and may threaten extradition to face trial if the consumer doesn't pay up immediately.
What makes these calls alarming -- and perhaps convincing -- is that the perpetrators reference the consumer's personal information, such as the person's Social Security number, driver's license number, previous bank account numbers, home address -- even personal references.
"The amount of information they have is really troubling," says BBB spokeswoman Alison Southwick. She adds that the amount of data points to a possible security breach.
Spread the word to your friends and family: Don't give out personal or financial information to an unknown caller. Scammers can spoof Caller ID to display different numbers, so trust your instincts over technology.
The BBB offers these tips:
?    Ask the debt collector to provide official documentation which substantiates the debt.
?    Do not provide or confirm any bank account, credit card or other personal information over the phone until you have confirmed the legitimacy of the call.
?    File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission online if the caller is abusive, uses threats or otherwise violates federal telemarketing laws or the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
?    File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau online if you believe a debt collector is trying to scam you.

I got the same call. They said I took out a loan and never paid back. They kept asking me if I was ready to pay the amount and that I had to say "I'm ready to pay the amount I owe" while they were recording the conversation. I didn't verify any info and I got upset, so I told them off and I told them to go ahead and send me a letter to my house for the info about when I have to go to court and I also told them that at the end of the day, they would be the ones hearing from my attorney with a hefty lawsuit for fraud and for identity scam. They try to scare u and also say they are trying to help u settle ur debt, but they are full of it. Just call back and don't sound scared and tell them to go ahead and send u the info by mail and they will not know what to say other than repeating what they started of with. It's a scam. Don't fall for it or verify or agree to anything.

They're Filipino.  And, they're incredibly stupid, very unlike all other Filipinos I have had the great privilege to know.

I contacted the authorities and reported their phone #.  They threatened to send police to my work and to my house to arrest me.  This made me very angry.  These jerks are the ones who are breaking a multitude of international, federal and state laws which would equate to a very long time behind bars.

They have been reported by many people to several state Attorney General's offices, the FTC, the FCC, the FBI, and state and local law enforcement agencies.  I encourage others to add their experiences and evidence to the case against these scumbags.  First, file a report to the FTC at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/.  The FTC will assign you a case# and automatically generate a pdf form with your case# that you can and should bring to your local law enforcement agency and, if possible, your state attorney general's office.  Inevitably, justice will be served and they will be caught.

Most people realize that while they may never be wealthy enough to live extravagantly, it is a priceless gift to be able to live with dignity and sleep at night with peace of mind and a clear conscience.  Once you forfeit that gift by committing a crime like this, you can never get it back.  Despite being complete morons lacking a shred of moral decency, these idiots will never again enjoy that same privilege, and they will have a hard time sleeping at night knowing that one day, they will have to answer to law enforcement, to state, federal and international banking authorities, to all of the people and families they hurt, and ultimately, to God in heaven for their offenses. It's too bad some people look for idiotic ways to intimidate and steal time and money from honest, hardworking people instead of committing themselves to a life of honest hard work.

I had the same experience today. They left me a threatening voicemail telling me "best of luck to me" if I didn't return there call.  I obviously immediately called the number and was shocked when I was told if I didn't pay $850 right now I was going to be picked up at work on Monday.  When I told them I didn't have $850 to just give to them, they dropped the amount to $510.  Luckily we found this website showing everyone who went through the same exact situation, I was scared to death!

I just received a call from this number today. He called my place of work and later called my cell saying that I owe $781 for a payday loan that I did not pay back, and that the police will come to my job tomorrow and take me to court. The only thing I can do is wait until tomorrow to see what happens. I believe that this is a scam and whoever this company is has gotten our information on line and is attempting to take our money by threatening us to pay it up front or else.
Everytime I would ask the name of the company the man would get upset and kept saying Cash Loans-which is a very generic name and also a company that I have had no dealings with. He would not give me the address of the company either.
