From the reply above yours I think it's safe to assume your caller was from Check Systems. Not Chex Systems, they are legit. Check Systems is one of the most fraudulent debt collection outfits operating in NY. This is their area code & modus operandi. They are total scum. Pay them nothing. DEMAND a notice of validation be mailed to you. NOT e-mail or fax. As per federal regulation under the FDCPA. They won't comply. They never do. They're too cheap to buy valid paper.

Got the same call 2 x's recently once late dec. and now again in Jan.. Researched phone numbers and finally came to these sites and noticed I wasn't the only one, African american sounding male leaves me messages telling me some legal action is being taken against me if i dont call back!

just got a call from someone saying they were from check systems. david lawson. saying i have an affidavit filed and to call an arbitrator. I looked up chex systems  and it says something about bank accounts but I haven't had any trouble opening/closing bank accounts.

Received a voicemail message to contact them by noon today before contacting   my employer.

Just got a call. The person sounded male and asked for me in a French accent and hung up.
