Geriatric scam

They call every day. I dont answer and they never leave a message.

They stopped calling during the last 2 weeks of 2013, but started up again as relentlessly as before. I guess even these scumbags are on vacation during the holidays, along with the rest of us. Lol

Just got a call from "Jamie" trying to deliver my "medical alert device". Previous calls were a different voice, don't remember the guy's name, if he told me. But last time, when they did get me on the line, I told the caller that we'd been discussing this with the police (we did -at the monthly neighborhood watch meeting), and that we knew it was bogus. That guy never called back. If I do speak with "Jamie" I'll tell him the same thing, because I intend to bring it up at the next neighborhood watch meeting. Pitiful.

Call and number appears to be bogus (1-585-797-6390) Cannot call back. Obviously a scam of some sort targeting Seniors. Of course the Government can't do anything about this??

Everybody: Take a look at Nomorobo.com.  Since I've started using their site, I've gone as long as 10 days without a nuisance call.  This one got through today, I've reported it to Nomorobo, and I'm confident that I'll never get another from that number.  I, too, am very grateful to the people who use these sites to report calls.  That's how I learned about Nomorobo, in fact.  

This unnamed company called with a caller ID of Rochester, NY telling me they were trying to set up delivery for my free medical alert device.  I agree that it is another Senior Scam.

I keep getting unwanted calls from this number (585-797-6390).  I answer the call and nobody is there; or a message starts playing that I have a free service already paid for.  This is a scam.  I have read it is about a senior medic alert product.  I looked into the "Help, I have fallen and I can't get up" Medic Alert program for my mother a year ago.  I am not sure if this is a result of that inquiry, but it is a pain in the neck.  It has to be stopped.

After receiving many calls from this number, I decided to answer to learn who was calling.  I picked up at the same time my answering machine picked up.  Said hello, then heard a man's voice say, "Are you there?" I just hung up.  I am glad that I now know who it is from the many notes I have read.  I am on the National do not call list.  

Caller calls and no message then when I called the number back it says this number is out of service...very strange..no way to block call.

Lots of call blockers on the market.  I have the digitone and it works pretty well.  Problem is it only blocks 100 numbers.  While that may seem to be a lot, I fill it in less than a year and have to delete the numbers that I think are no longer active.

Same message as others have mentioned except now they've added another part to this scam about receiving $3,000 from the gov't if you're over 60 - press 1 ...  DO NOT Do that - just hang up! If you can - report it to ans many places as possible (not that it will help, probably - but at least you'll feel like you're doing something)

Has been calling everyday for about 3 weeks.  Just won't stop.

Scam call. Claiming someone has paid for a medical alert for you and they wanna deliver it. They want you to give them your credit card number just in case. Yeah, right! I blocked their entire area code.

Wish there was a way to block these calls, like a previous responder I have relatives who reside in this calling area.

Just received the same call and have received them before.

Second time they called "John" giving the same message. It is so obvious that is a scam. Why do they waste their time.

Caller (didn't get name) claimed that there was a medical alerts system all paid for and needed more info as to delivery.
I didn't order any such device, and any relative who ordered for me would have told me so.  They probably would send a device if you paid for their service, but this is more likely a scam.  Caller ID just said NEW YORK.

Received a call yesterday asking me for delivery instructions for medical alert and that it was already paid for.What could be the scam? If I continued with the call would they want personal information?

I have received three calls from this number over the past several months.  The caller states "This is John and I am calling to schedule delivery of your medical alert........and then an argument ensues wherein I say I have not ordered anything and he says someone must have sent it as a gift  etc. Very firm....very definite about wanting to come and deliver the device...and very rude.  Eventually I hung up on him.....Another call a few weeks later.  And yet another call today.  The man is not discouraged by anything said to him.  I can easily see that he would intimidate many people.  I told him I was going to report him to the Attorney General's Office though I doubt he cared.

They only want to confirm that yours is a "live" number. After you answer and prove that, they'll put your number on a list and sell it to other thieves. Don't answer, and get rid of your VM or answering machine if you have them. Just let it ring. If you have Caller ID, that's all you need. NEVER answer a number that you don't know. You will be amazed at how, in a few months (they can be persistent), you will get none to 2 or 3 calls a week. They will eventually give up and bother someone else. Try it. It absolutely works.

Tired of these calls. When I answer they hang up. they are a pain.

This call came today, like others too, to a "do not call' listed #.   I've nothing at all to do with medical supplies or alerts. Cold-calling spam and phishing, it looks like.  Seems pretty widespread. Though probably well hidden, worth reporting!

Worthwhile reporting for DNC violation, though like most boilerplate scams, the number is probably fake and who knows, it might even be coming from offshore.

yes, I did manage to get them, by acting like I was ready to receive then told them to remove me, like the recording that tells me to press a # to be put on a no call list.........that did not work either.  the person whom I spoke with didn't do a thing.

now I am getting them without a call back number.  Doesnt seem to be any way to stop them  :(
