Got msg with hi Terry. As others have stated, when replied who is it the response is my phone about to die. So here's my concern.  They have our phone number and now verified the name that goes with our number. I can assume they would then know our last name and who knows what else. This is phishing but is it a precursor to ID theft?

Same thing. Said Hi *myname*. Then they said "Sry !! mi celly s goin to die :("  then they said "add me on Y! msgr txtgirlie05"

Got a tx with Hi and my first name - I asked who it was and the reply was - oh sorry my phone is going dead :(

got a text message about an hour ago, "Hey Mac", didn't recognize the number or area code. I texted back "who is this", they replied  "Sry my phone's bout to die" Then searched the number. It's from the Detroit area, the search said it was a landline in Warren, Michigan, but I've never gotten a text from a landline, so it may have been a landline which has been ported to a cell. I saw another post on this number saying that they sent a message asking to be added to your Yahoo messenger contacts., but I haven't sent any further replies. I saw another link saying this number was from Global Crossing, and I thought they were a bankrupt company which went under at the same time as World Com and Enron.

Other posters say they have had success in forwarding these illegal texts to 7726. They are picked up by your cell phone carrier who will ask you to send them the phone number so they can investigate and have spam filters installed to block the texts. Security company Cloudmark created a spam messaging reporting service that nation?s major wireless carriers agreed earlier this year to start using. Now, customers of AT&T Mobility, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, Sprint and others can forward their text spam message to 7726. The mobile phone carrier will ask customers for the phone number that?s linked to the spam message so they and Cloudmark can start investigating.

Text me saying, "hi Bo!" I responded. Replied with, " haha if u want to know who this is u got to add me on Yahoo msnger, my name is textiewoman484." That was it.

I also got a text with my name. When I wrote back, there was a canned response: "lol if you wanna know who this is u got to add me on Y! msnger, my id is txtchikie43".

Got a text with my name as well. Waiting for a response.
