100% of every job offer by text, fax, or email are fake. Every one of them. Job interviews are done in person. Face to face. Red flag #1: Job interview by web chat. Red flag #2: Advance fee (it can be for any reason) Red flag #3: The company interviewing you uses free, web based email accounts. Due diligence folks. If the caller says they are with "Company X", get a name, call "Company X" (with a number YOU get, & verify) & ask to speak with that person. Do not be surprised to find out there is no such person. That's what the internet is for - Check everything.

I received a text from Angela Bradly from Merrill Lynch. Telling me that my resume was taken into consideration. ( same as the above stories)
I proceeded with the interview where I was informed that my answers where at a  91% percent consideration stand. later he proceeded to inform me that I would get an HP laptop free and that I needed to get ( Myob business essentials software 2013, US Patent Single Users Pack simply accounting 2013,Apple Final Cut Express 3.5 HD Upgrade,Norton Ghost 9.0,Microsoft Office XP 2012 Standard Upgrade,Peach tree Premium Accounting 2013) approximately $550 and that this would be refunded to me  along with my first week training. When I asked if this can be deducted from my first check, he said it could not be done, when I asked if this was a scam this is what he responded.
"I don't like the word scam let alone getting myself involved in it.
Please take your application elsewhere this firm is not looking to hire jobseekers like you whom skepticism is written all over their face as this firm is looking to create more employment opportunities for people who lives in less privileged communities and the physically disabled. This also helps to decrease the rate of unemployment in the country which benefits the economy that is why we are offering much more benefits and pay have a good day."

I just received a text as well 10:30 am MST 1/25/2014 from this number. I did not even respond but thanks to those of you posting I will not do so. I am sorry for those who have had time and money wasted and will also join in on trying to find these people. I am thankful for those who take the time to post these bogus people and companies.

I got much the same as those shown above with Mr. Olson.  I did proceed farther than I should have and did actually send some $$'s.  Where it got strange was I needed to visit the next day (today, 1/25/2014) with Olson and he indicated that they forgot to tell me about some additional $$'s yesterday.  I am going to actually call Merrill Lynch on Monday and quite possibly go to our state's Attorney General's office.  As someone mentioned above it a sad state of our society when people try to take advantage of those of us trying to find a job.....  Since I'm not working  now, I got nothing but time to follow up on this...

She asked me if I was still interested in the job. I said yes and she asked if I had gmail or hangout, she told me to invite Mr John Olson and my verification code was ml.hr3201. But before inviting him I wanted to check this number because it sounds very fishy to me, I def think this is a scam.

Received a text message saying that it was Ms. Angela Bradly from Merrill Lynch, wanted me to sign on to my gmail account, stating that she wanted me to log on to gmail hangout/google messenger for online screening interview.  I responded that I don't use gmail account and don't want to download anything.  Asked if there was another way, haven't heard anything since.

I just received the same message about 30mins ago. I wanted to see if it was a scam or not. Ive applyed for many jobs. Non of which EVER sent me a text about a job. It is always a email or phone call an the interview was always in person or over the phone. I never applied for ml before.

I thought it was kinda strange too who interviews on a public talking website? then over the next few days received the text from Angela, I think this is fishy I just hope their not trying to hack my computer even though no personal info is on my computer it sucks to have a slow computer. I think its a scam who in their right mind makes 24 above dollars for a receptionist job.

Is this a scam I was contacted yesterday by Mr. John Olson and I was interviewed on hangout seemed suspicious. I was originally contacted by a text message from 6017591045 from a Ms. Angela Bradly from Merrill Lynch & Company Inc stating my resume has been viewed and forwarded to our head department. She asked me if I was still interested in the job.
