Please make these awful people stop! I get multiple calls, claiming to be Card Member Services, working for the Economic Recovery Act. They hang up or get abusive when I ask them to stop.

If you received a letter a couple of months ago saying that your current credit card would be switched to a new company in several weeks, that's who this is. They are checking to see if you did receive the new credit card so you can activate it. If you did not get the new card, you need to let them know. You won't need the airhorn to do that.

Just got another call and looked it up to see that the number belongs, once again, to one of the so called credit card lowering my interest rate companies.

Sick and tired of these phone calls...they told me my time was running out back in December. Apparently I misunderstood because they are still calling. My number is on the DO NOT CALL LIST...WTF????

Just called them back and its some spanish message then an english message that the person is unavailable. No company or personal name attached.
The incoming was for lowering credit card rate, press 1. Spoke to someone and asked them to put me on their do not call list. They keep calling back and I am tire of it!

Tired of getting these calls on my cell and home phone. I'm on the no call list, but somehow they keep calling. When I pressed 1 a girl came on the line and asked if I wanted to lower my credit card interest rate, when I said take me off their call list, she hung up!

Got called today. They said hello then disconnected. I put this number into my contacts as "Telemarketer" then started with 1 and now up to 15...I then edited the ring tone to 'silent'. Calls only appear in the missed call or incoming call list....at least I know who is calling me.

"Rachel" calls me everyday. It is a credit card scam.
The only way to STOP these people is to file a complaint against them. https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/
If we all do this, a lot of them will be caught and fined. Will this stop all together? Heck no. But it will certainly cost the scammers a ton of money in fines!

I just don't get how these people can continue to call when we have our unlisted unpublished number on the Do Not Call list (it's been on there since we got the number last June). We don't own a credit card, nor do we want a credit card. I really wish there was a way to shut these people down!
Connie 2012-04-06 16:15:25 Unknown
I am on the 'No call list'....... I want these calls to stop and stop now!
Laura 2012-04-05 21:13:20 Unknown
I have an idea. Next time they call, I will push 9 to speak to Ronald. As soon as he picks up, I will lead him on until he asks for my card number. I will start giving random numbers to make sure he is really listening, and blow my air horn right in his ear. Maybe THAT will get me off of his list.
Laura Smith 2012-04-05 21:08:48 Telemarketer
I get these calls every day. I pushed 9, and a man named Ronald answered. When I asked him to remove me from his list, he hung up on me. I am on the Do Not Call Registry. What recourse do we have? I thought that was set up to prevent these calls.

This number comes across caller ID as "wireless caller". They leave a recorded message saying "this is your final offer to reduce your credit card debt" and "press 1 to reduce your debt". I pressed 1 and was asked if I have over 3000 in debt. I asked the name of the company and was told "Card Member Services". When I asked if they kept a list of people who have asked not to be called, he gave me an 800 number that went to Visa international (800-847-2911) and then hung up.
I'm reporting to Montana Att'y General, the FTC and the Do-Not-Call list -- again!

After reading all these complaints and knowing that the same scammers are using numerous phone numbers to call us. Since reporting these clowns does not do any good - I report them all time to FTC. I'm guessing they are using throw away cell phones that can't be traced or some other scheme to make them untraceable. Here is my idea. If you do answer the phone and if you do have 3 way calling on your phone ask them to hold on and dial the FTC (877-382-4357). If someone actually answers at the FTC click them in and let the FTC talk directly to the scammer. Don't know if it will do any good but it might be worth a try.

Received call on March 30th. Am on both federal and state no call list. I found that the phone number belongs to Qwest (Century Link) so I sent them a message advising their line being used and that I will also be filing complaint against them (CenturyLink) to state attorney general.

My mini air horn that I got from the dollar store has been a particularly satisfying way to deal with these calls.

Called my home phone over lunch. Caller ID name "WIRELESS CALLER" Robocall, left partial recorded message on answering machine about lowering credit card rates. We are on state and federal do not call lists.

The government isn't doing their job, as usual. The "Do not call list" is a joke. I'm getting just as many calls; no, MORE since I got on their list/s.
Alleycat 2012-03-29 15:08:06 Unknown
It is obvious that these scumbags are on a phishing expedition to get your credit card information so that they can steal money from you and/or your credit card issuer. I did not answer and have blocked future calls from this number.

I have received automated calls almost daily from these companies claiming to reduce my credit card rates. I am baffled as to how they have received my number. I have never had a credit card and am on the DO NOT CALL list. I have tried to be polite/patient to the callers and have selected the option to be removed from the calling list, but with no avail. Yesterday I tried staying on the phone after the only option was given to "press one if you are interested in reducing your credit card rates" thinking it may connect me to a person. Instead it disconnected the call. Today I selected that option, when transferred, the man answered "Credit services" and asked about my intest in reducing rates. As soon as I requested to be removed from their calling list, he hung up on me! What can we do to stop these people from harassing and scamming us. If these people were really interested in getting customers, maybe they should be courteous enough to leave a phone number that can be traced back to a ligitimate company...not cowardly leaving these unidentifiable numbers and hanging up on the people they are "seeking business" from. I want it to stop!
