Tried to talk to these people, but they would not enter into a dialog. I tried many time to call them back, but only get a busy signal. Caller gave his name as Hugo Nonamemark. Tried to find out why they were calling but got no response. They would not give the address or the name of the company either.

Calls 3 times a day. Finally answered. Looking for my 30 year old son, who hasnt lived in our house for ten years. Told me quite personal information about his debt and told me to pay it. I am not responsible for it. Very unethical.

This is a "robot" calling for ACQWEN MORTAGE. They will call 3-5 times per day, every day, so long as you are even a little behind in your mortgage. And it doesn't matter if you talk with them or not. If you're behind, they'll call--A LOT!

Very true, the Do Not call list does not apply and the FTC will NOT RESPOND to individual debt collection complaints.
However, the powerfule Fair DEbt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) does apply. You can get more information and you can file a telephone harassment claim with private attorneys that don't charge you and recover up to $1,000 under federal FDCPA law: See fairdebtcollectionpracticesact (dot) us
The Do not call list does not apply to debt collectors, but the more powerful FDCPA federal law DOES APPLY where you can get up to $1,000 for violations like this:
-You are being harassed by repeated calls (including computerized automated calls) from a debt collector.
-You have received even ONE CALL after you advised the debt collector that they have the wrong number or you can't/won't help them locate the person they are trying to reach.

just so everyone knows, the do not call registry does not apply to debt collectors..i am a collector myself and have have intensive training in the fdcpa area..the only thing you can do is tell them you dont know the person and have no location information for them

Got a prerecorded call from some guy named Otmar saying I needed to call an 888 number due to "changes in my account." Yah, I'll get right on that. Here's a clue Mr. Otmar Phishbait, ya gotta say who specifically you're trying to contact, and leave what account, what company, what changes, and a real phone number before I'd even consider calling. He's just phishing ....

Under the TCPA, a consumer has a right to file a lawsuit and recover $500 for each call that violates the TCPA. The TCPA can also be used in conjunction with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act in some situations.
Generally, the TCPA does not apply to debt collectors making collection calls to debtors. However, if you are subjected to calls from a debt collector and you are not the debtor, you may file a lawsuit against the debt collector under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the TCPA.
This right was recently recognized by Judge Legrome D. Davis in a case called Watson v. NCO Group, Inc. NCO Group is a debt collector that uses automated prerecorded collection calls. In this case, Mr. Watson alleged he was getting hundreds of calls from NCO Group after he got a new phone number. Mr. Watson claimed he owed no debt to NCO Group, Inc. Mr. Watson filed suit under both the FDCPA and TCPA.
David Israel, defense lawyer for NCO, argued that the TCPA should not apply to debt collectors. Judge Davis rejected the argument made by David Israel. The judge ruled that Mr. Watson had a right to sue NCO Group Inc under the TCPA for $500 for each call. Judge Davis wrote;
[The] Court is convinced that a non-debtor's rights are in fact violated when he is subjected to repeated annoying and abusive debt collection calls that he remains powerless to stop.
Judge Davis' ruling was based upon his interpretation that collection calls to non-debtors violate the privacy rights provided by the TCPA.
So what can you do if you receive "wrong number" calls from debt collectors?
1. Sign up for the Do-Not-Call registry.
2. Save the calls captured by your voice mail or answering machine.
3. Contact a consumer lawyer.

They call ALL DAY LONG and from very early in the morning.
They say they are "person locating". The caller identifies
herself as Beatrice, but would not say who she represents.
Very annoying, please somebody stop these people !

Called asking for my sister-in-law who lives across town and is late on a ton of credit cards. I gave them the correct home phone number and they said they would drop my number from their list.

These people got hold of my home number and cell number and insist I am delinquent with an account I do not even have. Of course, I did not give the the time of day and told them to stop calling. If you ever get a call from these people do not speak with them and never give or verify ANY of your information, not even you name.

I have recently purchsae a AT&T GO Phone. Since the first day I activated the phone, I have received phone calls from the number 602-379-2260 as a missed call several times each day. This is getting very frustrating. Today, I called the number back and got an individual with whom I discussed this issue. He asked for my last name and first intitial, and if I lived in Texas. I explained that I have never lived or visited Texas.I told the gentleman I no longer wished to receive any phone calls from this organization and to remove my number from their calling list. He said that was impossible. This is rediculous!

I have had this number (800-267-9209) call every 15 minutes since december 26th starting at 8am and going until 8pm. It is always a recorded message. I Have tried several times to call back and I get a reording telling me to please hold my call is important to them and the next available agent will be right with me. I am on hold from 2-5 minutes before the recorded message tells me to leave a msg. then it says that the mailbox is full and hangs up on me. THIS IS GETTING ANNOYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the 3rd day in a row I am receiving calls from this number, more than once per day. These people are calling a business number which frequently gets forwarded to my cellular when I am out of the office. Everytime I answer the phone these idiots hang up on me after about two seconds. Not only is this annoying, but it wastes my time at work, but I get charged on my cell bill for these calls...

I got calls from this number quite frequently. When I finally answered and told them they have the wrong number, they constantly keep calling and asking for the same person. Are these people retards or what?

I started getting a call at this number on my Cell phone. I did not answer it. The last couple days I was getting calls from a 888 number supposibly from compass bank. It was a recording stating they had an important issue with my account. I hung up, as I never delt with a compas bank and never gave this # to anyone. Sounds like another crap call.

Calling every one in my home town with my last name, harrassing
and steady calling. Talked with them myself 8-16-07, they were rude and finally hung up on me. Calling all over town seems to me like poor management if they don't have all the details, who do you believe these days?
