the problem with that is that they will use a different number to call from.  What can be done is if you don't recognize the number... don't answer it.

This jacka $$ # calls and calls and calls, and hangs up every time I answer the phone. This is be I am disabled and cannot get any rest.

Calling them back just encourages them.    These people won't be removing anyone from their call list.

To bring a suit agaisnt them, you have to have aphysical address to bring them to court with.

This is a debt collector. They start with a recoding saying they are looming for and instead of a name, it goes silent.Then they tell you to press 2 tospeak to a rrepresentative.  Since they have been calling several times a day for the past week, we pressed 2 knowing we had no debt. Sure enough they were looking for someone with the same name as my husband, a fairly common name. The woman then provides the last 4 numbers of a social...not even close to my husband. He told her that and she apologized saying she would remove our number. We will see if that happens. She was vdry polite though.

Got a call from this number early morning.
Called it back, it was progressive collection services.
First ting they asked for was my social security number.
I asked who they were looking for and it wasn't even me.
I told them remove my number off their list and they hung up.

Report this number to the FCC as I am. The person who called said, "Calls are being monitored" and then proceeded with a string of profanities and threats. Whoever is using this number is disturbed and breaking the law. They call every day. I only answered this one time and the person on the other end violated every FCC rule in the book as far as making abusive calls. 1) It is illegal (against FCC Rules in use of Telecommunications Devices) to repeatedly make calls to the same number without identifying yourself. 2) Violates FCC rules in making threatening calls. 3) Repeated calls and hang ups.
I intend to file a formal complaint with the FCC. They will compel the local phone company to suspend their telephone service.

You may need to send them a cease and desist. You can follow the steps in what you need to know.

Call them back and ask the representative to remove your number from their list. Voila!

this number calls me atleast once a week and never leaves a message

this number has been calling me for weeks.  sometimes it is as early as 8am, sometimes around dinner time at 6pm.  can get as many as 3 calls per day.  do not pick it up but they do leave a message which I delete.  how do we stop them?

I am getting several calls a day from this number.   They leave a message asking for someone who is NOT at my number.  The woman on the message has an Australian or British accent.   I had 10 messages in a 3 day period.  
Soooooooooooo annoying!!!!

Receive a call from this number a couple of times a day for over a month.  Notified authorities and no one can do anything.  Funny the government once to know everything about us and they can't trace a call to stop it.

got a call from this number.. I saw someone said to join the National Do Not call List.. Went to their website and this is what I get..

"Due to the Government shutdown, we are unable to offer this website service at this time. We will resume normal operations when the government is funded."

Some idiot called on my CELL PHONE from this number and started a sales pitch of some kind!  I have a prepaid cell so I had to pay $.25 for this call!!  I'm convince there is no solution to this since many telemarketers spoof numbers so you don't even know for sure from what number they are calling anyway.

Is there a way to stop them from calling? It is getting annoying.

calls everyday.never leaves a message

A recorded message saying the call is for "John" the 50th "Smith." Since we don't answer it goes to the answering machine. The recording says to press 2 if we are not "John" the 50th "Smith." It also says that if we stay on the line we are admitting we are "John" the 50th "Smith." Guess the idiot recording doesn't know it is talking to another recording. Keep calling here every morning between 8 and 10. We don't owe anyone anything. And that is one heck of a name, if you ask me.

I just received the 2nd call today. First one they left a message, and I returned the call stating they had the wrong number. They said that they would remove my phone number. They did not - just received the 2nd one, and was questioned about how I knew the person they were calling for - AFTER I said it was the wrong number. AFTER! So I just said 'I'm sorry, wrong number' and hung up. I like the certified letter idea - too bad I have to spend money making them stop when collecting money is what they think they're doing!

These people call us 3x a day.  First time I picked up, there was an automated voice that said, "Please hold for an important message."  I hung up.

The second time, there was silence.

The third time I picked up, it asked if I was my twin sister.  Then the automated attendant said, 'Please stay on the line" which I did, then it hung up on me.
