Leon Van (then caller ID) called and asked for me by name and said he was so grateful for my support in the past and that he was keeping his word so had not called again for 6 months.  He also told me he had removed my name from 132 call lists that pertain to the handicapped callers that seem to be centered around central Arizona.  So, he told me that this would be my "final order" and would I like to donate to one of 3 causes or be sent more light bulbs?  He then went on to ask me if I knew how much I had bought or donated in the past year and I said I did not, that my wife might know as she keeps track of such.  He than had me guess (I knew we had not done any for well over a year as we'd been previously barraged by such calls).  So, I said maybe $200.  He said you're way low it was about $750.  That was a sure tip this was a scam call - as I stated, we'd been hanging up on these guys for much longer than a year.  I then told him my wife was just coming home and I needed to speak with her (the truth) and that he could call back in about 10 minutes.  He was somewhat insistent that we finish this transaction, but I ended the call.  He did try again, but we were on the way out and I did not answer.  If I had, I'd have told him to mail me a pledge letter and that if it seemed legit, I'd respond.  I was not going to give him a credit card number and suggest that anyone who gets such a call do the same.  I believe that this person had previously worked for one of those handicapped organizations in AZ or had somehow gotten their call list.  Just hang up if you get one of these.

Got a call asking for me be name.  My wife wouldn't give out any information about my whereabouts.  The caller then said he was adjusting the 'charge' and that he didn't put through the $1,300.00 one, just the $700.00 one and was trying to get authorization.

This is an attempt to get card #'s and other information.  Don't give them any.

Caller asked for (name of the man who is head of household).  When I told him he was not here, the caller then asked for Mrs. --- .  I informed the caller that there is no Mrs. --- and asked if I could take a message.  Caller then asked "Do you mean to tell me there is no Mrs. --- ?" and I then asked if this was a telemarketing call.  Caller again asked for Mr. ---, and I again informed him that he was not at home and again asked if this was a telemarketing call.  Caller then told me that he did not know what I meant by a 'telemarketing' call and asked again for Mr. ---.   I then hung up on the caller.
