They do make calls for directv. However, they also do not give you all the details-like a new 2 year contract if you accept the the FREE hd receiver! That happened to us after our directv contract was up for 3 months. Then try to fight directv !!

I do work at Empereon, it's just our job no need to be annoyed. Yeah we call everyday, because you don't answer. All you have to do is say 'take me off your calling list' & boom you will hear no more. TADAAA lol

It's not a scam, they are hired by companies such as Directv and Comcast to upgrade the customer's subscriptions; they wouldn't have the info on you if it was not that case.

Received a series of 4 calls in 5 minutes to my cell phone (that I did not answer) followed by a "fax" document from this number supposedly from a collection agency looking for someone I don't know.

This company called me and asked for my first name which indicates a sales call or bill colletor. When he asked is this ***** I said what do you need and he asked again and I said what do you need and he said why are you being so invasive is this **** . I proceeded to cuss at him for a good 2 min  but he was pro and never lost his cool.I finally just hung up and they have not called back in last 48 hours

Yes...a telemarketing firm but they are mostly are hired by various businesses to call and upgrade their customers.  Direct TV is a major employer of Empereon, although not the only company that uses their services.  Many of the outgoing calls from Empereon are an attempt to convince Direct TV customers to sign on to expensive premium channel packages. If you are a customer of one of their contracted businesses they can legally call you even though you are on the "Federal Do Not Call List".  If you will answer (just once) and tell them "Please place me on your INTERNAL do not call list", they will not legally be able to call you again.

I keep getting calls from this number trying to get me to buy my local newspaper saying it will be home delivered. The last call I got the guy was insisting that I made a purchase and after telling him about ten times that I was not interested he kept insiting so I  cursed him out and hung up. I *69 the number and called back and I got an answering machine as well. I think this number is a scam, please people be aware...

I worked there for about a year. We're just a bunch of desperate salespeople trying to sell the newspaper, movie channels, cable, internet, etc.

Said they were calling from the Houston Chronicle.  My number has been on the Do Not Call list since Sep 2009.

I too have cold called (I might add before there was a do not call list). While it's only a person on the other end, they've chosen to work for an employer who is harassing people and burning up their cell minutes.

So while it's more humane to be sympathetic, after a few calls from this company my patience is over with. If you don't like people screaming at you, don't work in a company that cold calls.

I got calls from this number server times a day. It is really annoying. I don't know how to stop it.  I am going to report this number to Consummer Protection Agency in Wisconsin.

(GET A LIFE!) they called today and some girl was on the other line. before she could start her line of bu***hit i told her not to EVER call my number again. guess we'll see if the incompetent dumb a** got it or not. my guess is NO but we'll see by tomoro. Wow... such vehemence expressed here.  Telemarketing companies use automated systems to volume call a list of numbers - there is not some "retard" out there punching in your phone number and waiting for you to answer.  When the number is answered and the automated system detects what is believed to be a human being on the other end, they pop the call into a telemarketing agents phone/screen - they never know what they're gonna get on the other end.

So, don't take it so personally folks.  If you don't know the number, don't answer.  If you don't answer, they can't burn your cell minutes.

Lastly, come on, remember, those are people on the other end with feelings who are just trying to do their jobs and earn a buck or two.  There is no reason to lose civility to one another over Telemarketing calls.
