Just got a call from this number on my house phone . My son took the call - someone wanting to talk to me (he knew my correct name) . Someone who had been a POW in German prison camp with me 1942-1945 . He got nasty when told I was 12 years old at the end of WW 2. Apparently thought he was talking to US. Wanted to collect an old debt.

(I should make a template of this response.) Prerecorded messages with NO COMPANY NAME ever mentioned for 'free cruise/fake surveys/vacation/lower interest rates/you've won & claim your prize' - this are ALL scammers. Do not respond, or press ANY buttons - just hang up. Any contact just confirms the number is 'valid' - the scammers add/sell/share their lists and you get more calls.
The real scam is they want your personal info (name, address, phone, credit info, income levels) to 'claim a prize'. These crooks use this info to create Fake IDs and commit fraud in your name! The timeshares/vacations are not real (proven by earlier posters). This is organized crime at work, folks! See the RCMP's 'Top Scams' list.
The number they seem to call from is NOT real - it is 'spoofed' (fake number) combined with a robo-dialer, dialing thousands of numbers in sequence via computer. It 'connects' only if you answer.
REAL companies and polling firms respect the Do Not Call registries and rules; Scammers do not. It isn't personal; they don't know you; and they don't CARE! Your phone number, if real, is a potential 'mark' to them to try to scam money or identity theft from. Just hang up and report the number with details of date/time to your law enforcement anti-fraud unit. Be patient - its takes time and inter-governmental cooperation to gather evidence and prosecute international crooks! Be part of the solution - and tell your elected official that you want the laws toughened and funding available to the anti-fraud units, so these b.......ds can be shut down.

Why do people come here and keep telling their story? I think that after 10 reports, the number should display a warning about that number being reported many times as unwanted marketing and close any inputs from user.
I mean we all google the number, get here and would see confirmation this was many times reported as marketing, that's enough.
What it gives now to keep this going on?
darcy 2013-07-02 15:12:59 Unknown
Please stop

Really, your friend in prison would be identified on your phone. Is your friend in New Hampshire?
Masoncycle 2013-07-02 02:06:32 Unknown
block these numbers and stop getting sick
Masoncycle 2013-07-02 02:05:24 Unknown
Yes they can if Rogers is your provider and you pay for it!
Masoncycle 2013-07-02 02:03:38 Unknown
If you are with Rogers I would suggest you sign up for Rogers One Number which can allow you to block numbers like this. Unfortunately it is one number at a time. It cost a bit, but hey don't complain if you get calls like this...
I have been asking Rogers for the ability to block entire area codes. Someone was correct, if you don't know anyone from New Hampshire, why would you answer the call? This would apply to Blocked numbers and Unknown numbers. If people do not identify themselves why would you answer? That is unless you are lonely,.....hit the disconnect key, and block the number with Rogers One.
