I never get a voice mail message from this number, they just call and hang up if I don't answer.  They call about once a week and I have no idea who it is but I wish they would stop.

My two cents of insight: I worked for two hours once as a telemarketer before I decided it was against my principals and walked out without payment. I called people on behalf of Monster.com, but I was employed by a temp agency in Provo, Utah. When I called a business, I was to act as if the business I was calling had an account with Monster.com already and ask to confirm the contact information for the person in charge of human resources. So, assuming this is the same type of thing, Direct Capital has a contract with the telemarketing company and some temp workers in New Hampshire, who don't work directly for Direct Capital, are making these calls.

Just called asking for someone who was our CFO years ago.  I just said there's no one here by that name. The guy said, "OK, I guess he got his walking papers" and hung up.

Shane, you are correct.  I applied for a credit line and was approved.  But the terms were OUTRAGEOUS, so I declined the offer.  They still call, but it's been awhile - that's why I found this page, to see who it was calling me.  I monitor my credit and they haven't done anything, so I believe they are legit but indeed annoying.

This company is actually legitimate.  I do not know about any identity theft, but, my sister's corporation requested a line of credit through them years ago.  They pulled her personal credit, approved her for a line of credit for $100k, and told her she could use it any time.  

They are VERY aggressive in trying to get folks to use that credit.  However, with upper 700 credit scores, they could've easily committed identity theft against my sister, but, did not.  They are a legitimate business, although, just a bit annoying.

Early this morning, given five options, one was "collection services" which I assume is supposed to guarantee a call back.

The voice, female, was clipped and spoke quickly, had to listen twice to get anything understandable.

Direct Capital is who the number (603) 501-1000 belongs to.  They will not stop harrassing me

This company called me at work and even harassed the receptionist to get through to my number!

Lady has called daily over the last couple of weeks.  Claims that we authorized a business to business internet listing with them.  She wants to cxl the listing per our request, but expects our company to pay $495 for the service in '07.  When I asked for a copy of a signed proof/contract or to listen to the phone recording during the original authorization, I was informed that they do not do this since the total invoice is less than $500.  (the invoice is $495.)  She claims that they do not have to retain any written or verbal auth for services under $500.
We are also on the do not call list.

Same scam as Carolyn reports. The correct response to these clowns is to threaten them with Trademark infringement for unauthorized use of the your company's name in an unauthorized listing. Keep them on the phone as long as you can, as it wastes their time & costs them money. And report them to the Do Not Call registry.

Get a call from this number all the time. No message. No answer. I just file with the national do not call registry. I'm tired of companies ignoring the do not call list.

I got a call from 603-501-1000 (Portsmouth, NH) and they left a message.  It is a company called Direct Capital Corporation.  They are a form of hard money lender- easy money, low credit-worthy requirements, but at a cost- many fees and very high interest rates.  I have used hard money lenders in the past as a strategy for buying and flipping houses.  They have their place in the market, but you have to understand the terms and realize there is a price to pay for getting access to money that you can't get from traditional lenders.  Direct Capital lends for all types of business needs and reasons.  I have not used their services, but as you can expect I googled them and found lots of negative reports.  There were instances of them trying to rectify complaints, but you know as well as I that you can find anything on the web if you look long enough.  I'm sure they have an equal amount of satisfied customers, too.  Their website is www.directcapital.com.  I think they found me by sending an email campaign.  I clicked the link in the email (via Yahoo mail online) and browsed around thier website.  The next morning I got the phone call.  I strongly recommend doing your research before borrowing hard money or doing business with a hard money lender.

They'd been calling my office for about three weeks straight... we just started hanging up on them when we saw the caller ID. Finally, I answered, asked him to take us off their list "well your owner personally emailed us about the program" "no I didn't." "Are you the owner?" "Yes.. " "Well you emailed me then" "Tell me the date and time I can look that up now". This is when the guy started becoming a jerk and I told him I'd be glad to conference him in with the local authorities in his jurisdiction to explain the situation. He then went off on me about how he's just trying to make a living, blah blah blah...


We were getting up to 15 calls a day from them at that point. These companies blatantly ignore the DNC since the penalties aren't stiff enough.

I got a call from this number today offering me financing when I said sure I would love a business loan they said they couldnt help me.  They called back 10 minutes later and went thru the same spill.  Why can't they stop calling if they cant help? I knew they wouldnt or couldnt help me because of the type business I am in, thats why I said sure I would love the help, thinking that would stop these stupid calls.  They will not stop calling me and now I have no idea how to stop them. I am on the no call list also.  They wont even tell me what the Company name is that they are calling for.

Caller ID showed 603-501-1000 Portsmouth, NH. Man said he was with Direct Capital. I believe it is for business financing.

This is a legit company. They are located in Portsmouth, NH and have been in business for 16 years. They are aggressive with their marketing but fair. Business numbers are public numbers and can not be but on the DNC list. I have talked to them before and if you ask them to take you off their list, they will, and they assured me that they scrub their data very aggressively to avoid calls to people that do not have a business. Some of these complaints are rediculous.

this number called my house (twice today!!) and wanted to do financing for my business... as business that i don't even have!! two different men left messages with different numbers to call back (one was disconnected, and the other a women answered and said wrong number).. SCAM!!!!

Calling for my husband by name and asking if my neighbor is still William Hornby (Sp?) and I have never had a neighbor by that name.

I got a call from this number, offering financing - as if I was sitting at my desk hoping for a call offering me financing. I broke hrough the recording by pressing "1", informed the woman I was on the DNC list and told her to hang up and stop calling.  She promptly called me back and began harassing me for being rude to her. As if it is my responsibility to politely submit to their solicitation.

I too received a garbled call from 603-501-1000 on 12/12/08. I replayed the message 3 times before deleting.

..calls me everyday for the past couple of months...and not just once or twice a day neither..so darn annoying..now everytime i see those unknown numbers i tend to let the phone ring and ring..maybe one day they will get the point..so i hope!!!

Called 4:36 PM Nov 17 2008 - started talking about financing capital - I said waitaminute, this is a home number, not a business - guy sez "Isn't this Joe's Masonry?"  I've had this number 6 years and happen to know another private person had this number for years earlier.  Bottom line: The guy was lying - what a surprise!
