It's GreenCorps with Dartmouth College. If you're an alum they're trying to get donations.

All I heard was a man laugh for about 2 seconds and then he hung up. Tried calling back but the number was disconnected or unavailable. Like he was calling from a college or a work placement which goes through a call center and makes it impossible to call back unless you know their direct extension.

@Phu: I don't have any money but I have a very smart and hard working daughter. I could not afford to send her to Dartmouth but because people were generous enough to give to that school she is able to go there and all we have to pay for is food and books which she pays for with a job they let her have in one of their labs. I can't even say how thankful I am as a father that my daughter has been given that opportunity. I always told her that her hard work would eventually pay off and that it was always better to sacrifice in the short term for long term gains but I sometimes wondered if I was telling her the truth. Please don't say bad things about Dartmouth and the people who give their own money so that my daughter can go there. They are people I will always be thankful to.

@Gary:
1) If all colleges and universities had as much money as Dartmouth and other Ivy League schools, they wouldn't have to ask for money.
2) Last I checked, "our academic woes" had little to do with the failure of the most privileged and talented students with the best combination of achievements, test scores, resources and connections being underserved by the colleges and universities they attend. (On the other hand, the illogic required to conclude that a Dartmouth education would solve "our academic woes" might force me to reconsider.)

It is Dartmouth College....student solicitations to the College's Parents and Grandparents Fund ...harmless, and I always give what I can, because all Colleges are in a super crunch right now with their endowments ....
Dartmouth is a super Ivy League school and worthy of anything that can be contributed. If all colleges and universities did for their students what Dartmouth does, we wouldn't have academic woes in these United States.
