Sorry the caller is 604-157-4889

I got the same call asking to publish our business in the Vancouver Police Magazine, I thought it was odd that he had an American accent, and definitely sounded like a call centre. Except this call came from 604-157-4889. I believe it may be a computer, but obviously changed their number. But when I seen that the number started with a "1" I was suspicious. The exact same thing he asked for the big boss. I said I am the manager and I can speak to him. After he gave me his sales pitch, he asked in a very nice way, "can we count on your support this one time' I honestly would love to support the community. I said I needed more information, and then I figured I should go with my first instinct, "American accent, weird phone number" anyways, I looked it up on Google and found there is no such magazine or site and that it's all a scam. When he called back I told him my boss checked it out, not interested and said she is speaking to the police and he hung up. IF YOU HAVE GOTTEN TAKEN BY THESE PEOPLE, CALL THE POLICE AND REPORT IT. THE GUYS NAME IS MOE NAJMEDDINE , BIG SCAM ARTIST!

Answered the phone saying "Merry Christmas..." (& the name of the organisation).  He said, "...ahhhhh, happy holidays to you too. I'd like to speak to the owner."  Responded that our office doesn't have an owner, he accepted that & that was the end of the call.

Got another call from this number. Asked to speak to business owner. Said he was from VPN Canada and it was in regards to business matters.

He called my mother today, claiming he was trying to sell advertising for the police department magazine.  He was very forceful and wouldn't let her get a word in so she hung up on him... and then he called her back and started yelling at her.  My father is a police officer, so the next time he calls let's hope it's my dad who answers the phone!

Got called twice from this number. Asked to speak to the business owner. When I said he wasn't in, caller didn't want to leave a message.

Got a call from this fool asking for the big boss without identifying who he was.

Same story, Vancouver police magazine, couldn't find either the ph# or such magazine on internet

2:31 pm received call from 1 604 147-5354 , as others pause, female voice said goodbye hung up

After a pause a recorded voice said "Goodbye", that's it.

Had a call from this number. He said his name was Richard from CPN (I thought I heard CPA and he was "how do I pronounce so you understand that it's an N not an A" and his a racist saying that asian people do not understand the difference between N & A) and would like to talk to the owner. I asked him why and he said he wants to talk about business and I asked what business he said I already told you. He said he's going to call again. I hope never as he was rude.

I just received a call from this number.  A male asked "I was looking for the business owner".   I asked who was calling and he responded "Oh, I guess he didn't show up today" and hung up.

Some silence then a recorded voice says "Good Bye"

Have received calls from this number twice, both times no one on the line.  Months ago received the VPD magazine solicitation - don't know what number - and was told at length how police and security professionals would be seeing my ad.  Not a bad fake pitch, but happy to see nobody seems to be falling for it...

I recieved a phone call and the person was looking for "the big boss" of the office, he was then transfered to me. He was wanting to get an 1/8th of a page advertisment in the Vancouver Police News Magazine. I said that I am part of a national office and I would have to talke to marketing and my manager before autorizing anything (Especially a $295 adversment in a mag).

I then asked for him to send an email or a letter, anything in writing to proved to my manager... said couldn't do that as the cost would be to much. (Email costs $$?)

The back ground sounded like a call center... the man's accent was from the Texas/southern states area, went by the name Shawn.

The phone number is weird as some writers noted above.  The caller claimed to be from a police magazine.  I indicated no interest and hung up.

Identified themselves as a police officer with the Vancouver police. Said they had been trying to contact me for a while. I immediately thought it might be a family emergency.
Same info as these other posts--trying t sell advertising for a non-existent magazine. Very pushy when I refused.

Yea i got the same thing as well today as June 13, 9:56am B.C time  from that number. it just says "goodbye" and hung up

Called with automated message "You have a caller on the line. Do you want to accept. Caller has disconnected."

Same thing happened to me, not in service when you call back. apparently it's happened to lots of people in the last day.

I got a call from this number also. It seemed automated. When I answered all I heard was a pause and then "goodbye."

Called both my office this morning and cell phone this afternoon.  When I saw the 147 prefix, I figured it is a spoofed number or some sort of undesirable call.  They never left voice mail at either number.

I hate telemarketers!

called offering to sell my company advertising space in the Vancouver Police News Magazine. A google search turned up no such magazine so I hung up.

I had the same experience as the above posters. Called at 2:02pm on June 10 2013

after a short wait a digital voice said goodbye and hung up (called at 1:34 pm PST on a Friday)

after a brief pause a digital voice said goodbye and that was the end of this
