Another lower your credit card rate call. Banished to call block on my phone

Btw the new panasonics have 250 call block. Also you can disable the first ring with programming #173 in the menu on the new phones!!  Panasonic phones are the best!

This is a fraud campaign currently active in Canada using a series of VOIP numbers.  The objective is to obtain your credit card number and drain your account. This number has called so many times I've lost count. I don't want to ignore ringing of telephone in case it's a family member or friend.  I really detest these annoying, aggravating, and frustrating calls. Actually got one of these calls New Year's day this year at 6 a.m.  Scared me as I thought something might have happened to one of my family, maybe an accident.ust got a call from this number - listened to the recorded message to see if I could opt out. Eventually it hung up on me, so I called the number back. It rang twice, then a message was given stating "The number you have dialed is not in service - please check your directory or call an operator for help. Thank you from Bell." Clearly not the standard wrong number message. I called again, and was given a second message stating "We're sorry, your call did not go through, would you please hang up and try your call again" with a busy signal. They must be rerouting calls when called back. This is so shady it's not even funny, I hope whoever is doing this gets busted.Wants to confirm your information so that they can reduce your credit card % monthly.  they had partial information on my one Visa card and said they could do this for all my cards..They needed me to confirm my identity and the rest of the card's numbers before they could continue.

This is absolutely a scam. I am in Canada and have emailed this information to the the RCMP fraud departments

This fraud is running rampant in Canada right now.  Those who have been defrauded will have large charges applied to their credit cards, and will end up having to cancel their credit cards and have to be constantly on guard from now on about future identity theft, since the crime ring now has your full credit information and history.

Those duped and defrauded by this scam should report it to the R.C.M.P. Anti-Fraud Center, and must contact their bank immediately:

And be ready to block all of the other spoofed numbers and names the card service scammers use--hundreds of them. There would be no reason to call them back anyway, these are drug-addicted criminals who won't stop calling no matter how many times we ask or beg, they will only make profane comments as all of the substance abusers would.

My PBX just requires new callers to hit 5, then they're added to a whitelist and it rings the phone. Haven't had my phone ring due to a telemarketer in a year :D

These b*****ds call 10 times a day, and like other have said you can not call them back, we have Shaw phone and they will block incoming calls listed on the phone portal at Shaw.ca.
You can do it from your keypad, block last incoming number.

I would imagine the "partial information" the card service scammers had on your visa card was the first 4 numbers, as all visa cards have the same first 4 numbers. These lowlifes would have just loved for you to give them the rest of the numbers so they could rip you off to support their drug addictions. Beware of these scum, and warn others, before they are taken advantage of!

As an addition to the caller id, which you obviously already have, you might want to look into purchasing one of the devices that announces the number as the call comes in. We have an AT&T answering machine which incorporates this feature. No need to get up and run across the room to check the caller id before deciding whether to answer the call or not. If you don't already have an answering machine, you might consider getting one and setting it to answer after 4 rings---legitimate callers will leave a message.

Another one of the spoofed numbers used by the "card services" scammers in their attempts to rip us off. Google my name to learn how to stop their annoying calls, while also having some fun!

And don't forget, after a few times it will get the "card services" scammers off our backs! They don't want to be repeatedly calling a disruptive person when they could be busy cheating someone else in order to earn their commission to pay for their drug addictions. Numbers of time wasters are soon removed from their robodialer.

Most people appear to be reluctant to do what yourself an I have found to be the ONLY way to stop the "card services" scammer's annoying calls; wasting their time with false information. As you said, this is a good way to get back at them, and also having some fun along the way--making bigger fools of them than they already are, plus, by taking up their time, it most likely prevents some unknowing person from being taken advantage of. It would be helpful to others if you posted this method of stopping the calls to as many of the "card services" scammer's' numbers as you can find!

Have some fun.  Pretend to be very elderly and frail, that hooks 'em good.  Keep them on the line for as long as you can, waste their time.  When they want your credit card info tell them that your wallet is in the bedroom and you will have to go and get it.  Place the phone down and go do something.  It is a hoot, some of these fools will stay on the line for two or three minutes if they think you actually believe them and are getting your credit cards.  If you play it right you can waste ten or more minutes of their time.  LMAO

Just called me in Manitoba.

I no longer answer long distance numbers I don't know.  I let them go to my answering machine and if  no message is left, I check here to see if the number is worth calling back.  (I love 800notes.com)..

As usual it's another time waster.

They just called me in Vancouver.  I wouldn't have picked it up, but the 224 exchange is real and has been real for over 50 years (the UBC area).  I should have guesses because the system was always that if the last 4 digits began with a 9, the call would be coming from a pay phone.

This number called, showing on caller ID without a name, I answered anticipating to have some fun with these people but as soon as I did, it went dead.  I guess they have now confirmed that my number is valid.  However, my Panasonic phone has the option to block up to 50 specific callers and I always do that.  Next time they call, it rings once then the call is queued into oblivion.  When I have the time, I usually continue with the call, speak to the caller, ask questions as if I am buying their shtick, give then some partially valid info, and keep them on the line as long as I can.  I even give them bigger logistics, making them salivate at the prospect of nailing a whale, with bigger needs, bigger profits for them.  When they realize that I have been stringing them along, they usually hang up angrily.  The purpose of this is to waste as much of their time as they are trying to waste of mine.  That is the ONLY way they never call me back, they know they will be wasting their time and delete my number from their records voluntarily.

Don't bother to answer the calls! The callers are the drug-addicted "card services" scammers, who call us pretending to be associated with our credit card companies in an effort to fool us into giving them our credit card numbers so they can rip us off. People that have been fooled into giving these lowlifes their number have suffered severe financial losses. Beware of these slimy creatures, and warn others before they are cheated!
