In response to Ralph's message:
If you could have recorded the conversation, and it is proven to be true. That is not only somehting to do scamming; the caller is also responsible for luring minor, kinking, and posing threat to personal safety.
The caller could have violated the criminal codes already. Inform and report to the local authority.

The caller might have used a few numbers for spoofing; it has been common recently.

I took calls from this number yesterday afternoon and again 08:00 AM this morning. The call a male both times asks to tald to my under-age daughter. Both times refused with the second times telling this F#$ker never again to call this number. In looking through these postings I noticed Crystal's 13 Feb 2014 post and I also wish POLICE attention on these perverted scammers.

use to get this call all the time(responding this time for a friend) and just hung up,as i don't possess credit cards  believe it is coming from somewhere in asia and routed through British Columbia. So, one day i stayed on the line and before the individual could respond i told him if didn't quit calling, i would hunt him down from whatever backward country or organization he represents and rip his heart out through his mouth and shove it up his a**. so far so good - for me anyway.

Got a call from that number today, no one on other end, so thought I would look here.
Well from what I can see another scam artist.  Looks like that number will be joining the other couple hundred in my autoblocker.   At least if its a call on your cell you can have a program Call Blocker to permanently ignore them.  Wish the landline had a similar feature.

Correct, and this is why you NEVER press any numbers on a call. First, if it was an illegal telemarketing call, what makes you think a criminal would honor the DNC list? Next, if you press a button, what are you pressing a button for? Just Hang Up! Don't argue with them. Don't talk to them. Do not call them back (that's exactly what they want).

another scam going on now is when they ring a known mobile cell number when you hit "2" to be taken off the list that actually engages the robo-dialer to start using YOUR cell number in its spoofing. Had that happen to me last month and got a ton of angry calls within an hour from people thinking it was me that called them.

Basically if you don't know who it is calling you don't answer. Just let it go to voice mail, if someone is calling you about something important they WILL leave you a voice mail

Absolutely, they ALL use spoofed numbers now. And they don't get your number from anywhere. All the scammers use robo-dialers and once it hits a "ringing" number that number is stored into their database and is called continuously until they make a "sale"

They DO NOT care about a "do not call List" and since the number is spoofed there isn't any way to trace them. Best way tp get your number off is to WASTE their time string them along for as long as you can as to them time is money.

I always press one to speak to someone.  When the someone comes on line I talk to them in a civil manner as though I was actually interested in dealing with them.  After the someone does their spiel I tell them I am very interested in lowering my credit card interest payments.  This is where the real fun starts, when they ask if I am the designated signing authority I ask them to explain what that means and they go through who has the card issued to them and signing authority etc.  I always throw in the monkey wrench that there is a secondary card in my wife?s name.  After having kept them on the line with stupid yet civil questions for as long as possible they go into the spiel about verifying who I am be first asking me for my date of birth I then fool around with that for a while and finally I ask what they show for my date of birth.  The last one I talked to half an hour ago then asked who he was talking to and I asked him who he was calling.  I was able to get out of him my name and address, he had it correct, he was accessing some data base that has at least my name, address and unlisted phone number.  After I got that information out of him I told him he had the wrong number and that sent him for a bit of a loop.  Kept him on the line for as long a possible, wasting his time and having great fun doing it.  From the background noise I imagine he was in a room full of people doing the same sort of scam on people everywhere.

My absolute favourite way to deal with phone calls like this is to keep a whistle close by. Once they start scamming, or basically as soon as they start talking, I blow the whistle very, very loudly into the phone. It works like a charm and I feel like I've turned the tables on this scumbags and made them feel annoyed and uncomforatable instead of the other way around. They don't call back.

I initally tried reasoning with them, asking them to take me off their list and yelling at them. The whistle is the only thing that truly works.

It's not as easy to do with my cell phone though, as I don't carry a whistle on me.

This number called me on 11 March at 4:30pm.  Caller ID revealed it to be a Mcgee M.  When I called back for them to take our telephone number off their list, the reply I got was, "We're sorry, this number is not in use".  I have added it to my list of unwanted calls.

Called Toronto area on March 8/14@1:21pm - Call Display said 'Unknown Name'.  Thanks posters, so I don't waste my time.

Any calls offering 'free cruise'; lower interest rate; free vacation/timeshare; tech support (that you did not initiate) - are ALL Scammers.  They use computers to spoof/fake the number they call from, and dial using a VoIP (Voice over Internet Profotcol) via computer - making it very hard for law enforcement to trace.  Most originate from offshore call centres - Search for 'CBC Marketplace, To Catch a Telemarketer' (worth waiting through the commercials).  Also see the RCMP Top Scams website.  Almost all these calls are after one thing - a live number and ANY personal identifying information.  These are run by organized crime and will try multiple calls/scams once they get a 'real number' they call over and over (and sell/share/rent lists also).  They try to confirm your name, address, phone, any income or credit card data, or utility info - there's been a newer one where they are pretending to be 'your local telephone company' but don't know all the Canadian names, they just pretend to be YOURS trying to get account info.  They use this info to create Fake IDs and commit more fraud by pretending to be you!

If you want to help stop them, report to your local anti-fraud unit; in Canada email full details to info@antifraudcentre.ca.  Then email your elected official telling them you want them to support the work of the anti-fraud unit against these telemarketing scammers, and to leverage our international trade agreements to get their cooperation in prosecuting and shutting these crooks down!

The 604-251 is a area is in the North East part of the city of Vancouver . I dialed it back and it rings so somebody owns the number. But more than likely who ever calls us is spoofing the number. read Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caller_ID_spoofing

An obvious fake name of McGee M is included with this 604-0251-1333 which can not be called back,
which is certainly a soliciting call to me even though I am enrolled with do not call.

I am not answering phone calls from numbers I don't know or names I don't recognize.

I use the block service, Star 60 and follow prompts
