says I won $1000 and to text them back at the following 5 digit phone number "88188" to claim my prize

I haven't contacted them back yet but thought I would post here still.

I just got it about 30 minutes ago. Companies don't text you that you've won $$

Same message 5 minutes ago--wonder if there's anyway we can find out who this is and investigates. An illegal scam I'm sure

Just got this text message: "Dear customer, we'd like to thank you for your loyalty by giving you a free $50 credit. Please text "DAM409842" (without quotes) to the following 5-digit number 88188.". I am always suspicious when someone is giving away "free" money.

I just got it 2 mins ago.  It asked me to txt "DAM409842" to the 5-digit no 88188.

Got it too. SPAM message.

I got it too! I called it back on my house phone and it said that the persons mail box was full.

This number is a spam - it will collect your number once  you enter the digits. NOTHING is free, least of all money...

Received this message on Thursday when i was Europe.  They were offering me less though! Darn scam.
My message was "Dear customer, we'd like to thank your loyalty by giving you a free $50 credit. Please text "DM409842" (wiithout quotes) to the following 5-digit number 88188.

I got this SMS in Vancouver too (Fido)

"Dear customer, we'd like to thank yor loyalty by giving you a free $50 credit. Please text "DAM409842" (without quotes) to the following 5-digit number: 88188"

I wonder who is on the other end to receive this, and will we be charged (how much?)
Is this legal?

Also got this message, I was with fido. I think only Fido costumers got this type of mesages, I was charged also in the past and I quit with fido because it seems they work together or maybe somebody from fido team members is doing this type of scams.

I'm with fido (not on a plan, but on pay as you go) as well... Hope it gets resolved!

They're just hitting phone numbers, sequentially. 555-5555, then 555-5556, 555-5557, etc....

I received this message 30 minutes ago.  I called Fido right away.  I let the customer service rep know I Googled this number and found out it's a scam.  I told them that I don't want to get charged for it. Although they are not able to stop the charges they were able to help me by leaving a note in my file stating that I received a text from 604-355-9797 on such a date and time offering me $50 credit, which is a possible scam, and if I get charged for this text the amount will be credited back to my Fido account.  All I have to do is call Fido if I see the charges on my bill and they will credit the amount back.  I was also informed not to reply to this text, but if this continues I will keep calling Fido until it's resolved and make sure I get all the unwanted charges back to my Fido account (if they want to keep their customer of many years)  Hope that helps anyone else :)

I just got this message and seems like I am the only one using Bell but I transferred my number from Fido about a year ago though.
