Well I Also just received one of these same post cards with The Title Claiming that they had an Tablet ready for my pick up but can only hold for 72 hrs.
But how would this company have my personal info to begin with to even send me this post card ? Cause You see I'm not even from This area I live else where but when my mother moved,  I decided to order her cable for her place and put it under my own name and I pay her bill.
So when I visited her next, she handed me one of those post cards and said I had gotten a piece of mail at her address. I was quite puzzled .And Being that her cable bill comes to me online ,i was surprised to hear her say that and thought  what could it possibly be?  But when I realized it was spam type mail. I quickly realized that there also could be only one company responsible for handing out or should I say selling my personal info like this .
So I know for a fact that this telephone /cable/internet company Namely Telus , would and could be the only possible company responsible for selling my personal info to this company. So it makes me wonder if they have sold my info to this company who else have they sold my info too? It angered me to know that they had done this. I really don't agree with this type of handling of my personal info ,cause when you think about it this company that has bought all those contacts will no doubt be also selling it to  many others. And so on ! Its not right and shouldn't be done ! I will now be contacting Telus to tell them about my thoughts, on this practice. Not that I expect for anything to be done .But I  also cant just let it go with out  something being said !

I received a final notice to say that I have won a new 7 inch ANDROID TOUCHPAD TABLET COMPUTER WITH CAMERA VALUE 199.99. I did not sign anything for them to add me to their list. This I believe is direct buy and all they are doing is trying to get you to come in...

The first tip that this is a scam is look at Canada Post Stamp - Postage Paid:  Addressed Admail. Putting a red sticker on your mail box and Canada Post will stop putting or delivering Admail.

This is not necessarily a scam. The biggest one I know of was e-tour and travel. They would offer a trip to florida with a condo on the beach and would give you 2 tickets to the parks for each 90 minute "presentation" you attended. The problem is the 90 minute presentation was for time-share and you can get pressured for 3 hrs to do what amounts to taking out a small mortgage. This is why they want to know you have a job and know how much you make. They were awesome rooms right on the beach but we wasted what amounted to almost a full sunny day is a small room getting pressured. Another thing is that they offer a "7 day vacation" but if you fly out in the eve on the first day and the morning on the last you on a 5 day vac. The only thing that really pissed me off is that I booked it to see the space shuttle taking off and they cancelled it only to take off the day we left. For your offer, I would say it doesn't sound right because you don't need a full time job and 50k a year to get a 149$ gift. Most likely time share.

there's nothing anybody will do about these scams even phone calls. I have called bell countless times about scam phone calls and absolutly nothing was done, they will just recommend you guy and pay for their call block service wich doesn't work most of the time because it only deals with the number on your caller id and is untracable. Doesn't work with most cell phones and alot of the time the number is acually a disconnected number. I got a call from 604-255-1493 called it back and it's an "out of service" number. The best way to deal with this stuff is to understand that most of the time you get a statement in the mail, not a phone call. If you are not sure just ask who you are speaking to or say theres someone at your door, you need a number to call them back, if they say anything other than that, hang up.

Only if the business is actually a member of the bbb. Alot of small businesse's arn't. It worked good for me once. I have found that the best way the resolve a complaint is to contact the businesse's head office and report the specific employee. Send a properly worded email and not ranting and raving. State how the employee violated the company's policies and you will get your a** kissed.

My elderly mother received the same postcard. Good thing I get her mail before she does. The small print is appalling, and this is just a tiny portion:

"Must attend a 90-minute presentation to receive gift. Approximate retail value of gift: $149.00. [Must be] employed full-time and have an annual household income of $50K."

A new marketing strategy to entice people to call them and get their information.  The interesting thing is they used the unique name format I just started using when I reordered my new cheques.  How did they get the format?  Do cheque makers give out their client information?

Received the same postcard yesterday. I almost made the call when I read "We can hold this package for only 72 hours".  My subconscious mind got me thinking "free Android? Too good to be true?", I'm glad I did a bit of research and found this thread. Did you realized that they purposely leave out the maker of the tablet and it's condition? It may not be a mainstream maker, it could be refurbished. For those who have 90 minutes to spare, think again.

This is a smart but very unethical way of telemarketing. "Direct Furniture Warehouse" is now black listed in my list.

I received the same "Notice to Call" postcard as above and I didn't bother calling because I knew it would be some kind of scam or more UNWANTED telemarketing.  Stop sending these cards.

I just received a "Notice to Call" postcard in the snail mail with a "Status" of "Ready to Claim" an Android 7" Web Tablet with Camera + WIFI. Other bait included "Call our Distribution Center now" and "We can hold this package for only 72 hours." Tiny barely-readable fine print said I'd have to sit through a 90 minute presentation in a room with the fire exits locked from the outside before I could claim my "free" tablet.

Sadly 73 hours had passed so I didn't bother calling their phone #.

This is Direct Furniture Warehouse.  They are just trying to get your personal info so you can attend their open house.  Once you refuse to give them your info, they hang up on you.  So rude!!!
