Continuous calls about a student loan that is not mine. I have received 22 calls this past week. Callers have promised to remove my number, but it hasn't happened yet.

No message - just incessant calling from 605.331.0821.

This number has called my house at least 10 times today, I wanted on hold until a representative came on. She asked me my name and I told her she should know my name because she was the one calling me. Said she was from Citibank regarding my student loan which is not due yet. I told her in the past I have only dealt with Citibank and will continue to do so in the future. I also told her they needed to fix the automated system because if they kept on calling so much I was going to file a complaint.

Ditto above. I called back and they asked me for my social. I refused. They called me! I was only returning the call. Don't give these jerks your social. They can only ask for that kind of stuff if YOU are calling a number YOURSELF that you KNOW. Not if you are calling back a random number that has been harassing you.

This number calls me all the time. My student loans payments start next month, and they call me everyday, 5 times or more a day. If you call the number back it asks if you will be able to make your next payment. I have done this and they STILL call and ask me if I will be able to make the payment. I haven't called Citi yet to tell them to knock it off, but I will if they call me again. It's so irritating!

Citibank calling about Student Loan - I dont know what for yet - they just left a message that I should call them. I have a loan with them but am not sure why they are calling - everything is up to date...
Graduate 2011-06-06 20:52:20 Unknown
I have received 5 calls in 36 hours from these Citibank. After two calls, I called back and talked to a customer service rep. That hasn't stopped the calls. My loan is still in a grace period, I don't owe them anything (yet)!
Sweaver 2011-06-06 20:52:20 Unknown
Keeps calling me about 5 times a day. I've tried calling back but I couldn't get through.
woodydragon 2011-06-06 20:52:20 Unknown
I have received a phone call from this number like 3 to 5 times a day every day of the week for several weeks. No answer just calls and hangs up, I try to call it back and it comes up busy or just rings and then drops the call after 14 seconds!!!!

Continuous calls about a student loan that is not mine. (gives the student's name - never heard of her & not listed in local phone book) I have received 10+ calls today. Callers have promised to remove my number, but it hasn't happened yet.

The call is legit. I've got some student loans with citibank and thought it may be a scam, but I called citibank directly at their 800 number and they confirmed that it was indeed them calling to discuss some loan information with me. They're pretty annoying with how often they call, but it's legit.

Same as orange girl - no message, just incessant calling from 605 331 0821. Caller ID reads "State of South Dakota"
Mox 2009-06-19 03:38:48 Unknown
I am 100% sure this is NOT a scam. I have a student load with Citibank. I graduated six months ago, and I took this call, and it was a courtesy call telling me I was going to need to make my first payment. They asked if I could make it and I said yes, then they thanked me and would await my payment. They asked me for no personal information, no credit card info, they just wanted to make sure I knew I had to make a payment. I used the information sent in the mail with my loan information to make my payment.

Pay your loans?
Tipme20 2009-05-07 22:32:37 Unknown
Totally legit. I called back the 866 number left in the message and it asked only for my zip to retrieve the message. My loan is going back into repayment for summer, they were only calling to confirm I was going to be able to make the first payment, assuming that if not, I would be redirected to some customer service rep to discuss options. Everyone thinks it's a fraud lol. I'm a very security conscious person, shredding anything even with my name on it, and I didn't smell fraud at all.

If it is Citibank looking to collect on my student loans, then why not leave a message?
Karatz 2008-11-21 05:06:04 Unknown
Ya this is Citibank Student loans - www.citibank.com -> sign in on the left to student loans. I have a split schedule at two different colleges which leaves me with less than part time at each, but combined I have more than part time. They are calling to let me know that my payment will be due after which I'm trying to help them locate a fax I sent them. They are calling me back. Got like 7 calls from them so I know it's legit...

Missed this call, called back, they just said 'customer service' and i said my name and that I had missed their call and they asked for my social. So I then asked who they worked with, and they said Citi Student Loans (Where I have my Loans through) and they were calling to inform me of repayment. I continued to get calls from them and called the 1 800 967 2400 number listed on Citi's website, and they confirmed that is definitely their number and they are a legitimate customer service line (its basically like calling the 1 800 number, but its personalized to South Dakota!).
Hope this helps!

This is what I got when I googled the number. Notice the phone numbers listed in the below paragraphs. It appears to be legit, as my student loans are coming due in a month. :( Poor customer service.

Any word back yet?

I got a couple of calls from them recently too, and one message did identify them as Citi Student Loans. I independently called the Customer Service number on the Citibank website and used the reference number they left in the voicemail. They confirmed that they had sent me a message because my loans are about to go back into repayment. So I think it's legit -- but, they really should identify themselves better on the caller ID, as it definitely seems a bit shady at first.

Just called the number back and it was Citibank. I was able to verify my account info without giving any details like SSN (I verified with my name, address, and telephone number).
They just wanted to tell me that my student loans will be starting up soon.
