Extremely rude and unprofessional, have been harassing my family members and myself about a bogus $200 payday loan, but do not have any documentation that they are willing to provide as proof.  Multiple calls and intimidating voicemails from 3 different numbers in 3 states from the Processing and Summons Division, and Legal Courier Services, as well as Cohen, Kaplan, and Toowitz - Jennifer, Darin Knight, Frank Crosby, etc.  I asked for documentation, they would only send a settlement agreement and wanted to know when funds would be available.  I advised them to just send the affidavit and I would go to court.  Then the courier called my office and advised he was in the area and would deliver the affidavit to my office, and my supervisor would have to witness my signature.  No problem, I said I am the EVP of a family business, but my sister would witness my signature.  this was at 11:30am, he said he was in the area and would deliver it to my office.  I said okay, but that I was leaving by 2:30 to take my son to the dentist.  He said if I was not there it would be determined as uncooperative and sent back to the attorney, so I told him to deliver it to my home.  Then someone called my office again, and advised that I was threatening their employees.  Luckily, I have an administrative assistant who was witness to the whole event and took the brunt of the follow up hang up calls on our office line.

I also called the county courthouse, nothing filed against me.  This is nothing but harassment!  I have given all the information and my voice mail recordings from robots and people from this number and 605-496-0553 (North Dakota) and 307-316-0806 (Wyoming) to my county DA's office, and am filing a complaint with the State Police.

They contacted me saying I owe a debt of $300.00 from 7 years ago that I have no knowledge about. I told them provide me evidence and I will pay. They said we can't provide your evidence until you pay or we will serve you and sue you in court. I told them They could contact my attorney with docs and they said have him contact us. Then they hung up. My attorney contacted them and they said they did'nt need to send anything as it would leave their office in a few days. Biggest scam I've seen in a long time. Trust nothing these people tell you!!

The best thing to do for these bottom feeders is to block them from your telephone, first and foremost.  Second, contact your telephone carrier and ask to speak with their legal department.  I've done this with my telephone carrier and we're onto these scum bags.  They are looking into these creeps and will take care of them accordingly.  Beyond that, just ignore them and they'll go away.

Keep getting calls from this number. Says there is fraud linked to my SS# and there are 2 suits against me. I have reported this to my local police department, as well as my lawyer. There is no fraud linked to my SS#! I work for a company that deals with compliance and legal issues and this is just a phishing tactic that this company is using to try and scare naive people into thinking they owe money; when in fact they don't!

I asked that i be mailed the info to my house and he said he couldn't do that. Then i said well i have done some research and found out that this is a spammer and he was like "i do not understand that language". he then said do you want me to disconnect this call and i said yes. and it was. I have dealt with bill collectors before and they were very willing to mail me actual papers with info pertaining to such debt and how to clear this up . these people are such scum. I had to block the number so hopefully this will work

These people aren't real debt collectors, ladies and gentlemen.  I used to do this for a living once upon a time.  A real debt collector must say, "This is an attempt to collect a debt and any information will be used for that purpose."  These creeps didn't say that when they pulled the baloney line about charging me with two counts of fraud.  Now, if I didn't know any better I'd of turned over my personal information to them.  For anyone who receives a call from 605-496-0553 do not give them any information.  File complaints with the necessary agencies.  In addition file complaints with your state and local police.  What I'd also suggest is the you check your credit report to see if anything shows up on your file.  Beyond that, just ignore them and they'll go away.

These creeps are looking for information.  They are scam artists looking to frighten people into turning over credit card or bank information.  They can't threaten arrest ladies and gentlemen.  If the police did have a warrant for your arrest, certainly they wouldn't call and give you a warning.  They'd come to your house or place of employment and get you.  Don't let these bottom feeders prey on you.  Turn the tables by reporting them to your state attorney general.  Then file complaints with your state and local police.  Remember to file complaints with the FTC, FCC and FBI.  Then ignore them.  These scum will go away if you don't pay them any mind.

You will not get taken to court.

This is just the 21st century variation on an extortion racket. There's no point talking to a supervisor when the supervisor (and everyone else you could talk to) is a criminal.

I received the same calls and I argued with them. I asked for documentation and they said I could not get it because they have a summons against me. I looked up the number and got this site I am angry and mad. I asked to speak to a supervisor and the guy said he was the supervisor. I asked to speak to his boss and he said he had no boss.  He said I was rude and obnoxious. He asked why would he want to scam me when he had all my personal information. He hung up on me. He didn't even have my divorce from my second husband, he had a wrong address, etc. He told me the company name was QRS - Quality Recovery Services. HA! I told him that the supposed debt was over 7 years old and argued with him. Anyway, he hung up. If I get taken to court I will argue there also. I will be reporting this company!

I got the same call as everyone. When I called back to inquire about the issue i was placed on hold and then the phone hung up. I tried to call back (23 times) only to be placed on hold. When some girl got on the line saying it was a quick pay loan I knew it wasnt right. I asked her the amount, she could not tell me. I asked her the dates, she could not tell me. So, I said unless you have that info dont call me again before she could get the words out of her mouth I said "I will take my chances in court". I will report this group!

I have received this same call with the exact same scam. First they called me saying they are a collection company out of New York. Then they call me from this South Dakota number. But the exact same scam saying that I pulled out a payday loan from Quick Check back in 2006. They are now saying that they are placing charges against me in my county and are sending a summons.

I asked them to tell me what the name and location of the company that was reporting the debt and they told me it was a payday loan company from my hometown.  Just for the record, my hometown is too small for a payday loan company to exist.  They found out where I am from (easily found on google search) and made up a company.  Report them.  I asked him to give me the legally required written notification, he changed the subject.

Report them, ask for proof.

I have been receiving phone calls from these people for about a week threatening me same as the rest of you, they say they're from the "processing and summons division, and I have 2 charges filed against me in my county, for "fraudulent activity in my name and with my social" I tried calling the number back and got a message saying the mailbox was full finally I got an answer and he left me on hold forever, so today I got a person, Terrance, and he told me the last 4 of my social and an old address he had my mom and sister's names as "references" same thing, says I opened a payday loan in 2008 and I owe $1600 for court costs etc then he puts me on hold and comes back and tells me my current address which was correct and a company name I worked at when I was 18. he said I could make a payment today for $500 but I did not give him any info or any money but it was eerie how much info he had on me. Even if I had a payday loan which i'm sure I did not, and if it was not paid back they can not file fraudulent charges against me, and he also claims my sister and mother would also be charged, um NO! don't think so

called back again talked with a Stephen who was incredibly rude he would not tell me the company name and I refused to give him my case number, I hung up  called back and got him again the lady who answered and put me on hold is the same lady leaving me voicemails. must be a HUGE company so far 3 people in all of the calls i've made to them.

This number called, it said South Dakota on the phone. I call back and they hang up. Then they call back and it goes to voicemail. I got the same automated voice message. So I call back, I didn't know this was a thing. So this Melissa Wiggins calls and tells me that I've been red flagged for a summons to come to my home or employment because I breached a contract from Quick Pay. I ask what quick pay is and they tell me that they can't tell me the company they represent because of confidentiality. I call bull****. So while on the phone with them, I google quick pay, quickpay, and quikpay and it's one is a company through chase, the next is a school payment system for Virginia, and the third was a taxation site for Virginia. She tried to lure me in with an old address that I never even lived in. Everyte I asked for elaboration, she would stutter so much. I'm not googling the number and this pops up. My own red flag goes up. I tell her that I would call back (which I'm not) and she gives me another number to call her back: 203-610-6460. A Connecticut number, I live in CT. So I thought maybe they were real, but upon further research, nope scams. I can't believe people are so sneaky. They had my social security number. They were also known as QRS LLC. Googled that and got nothing.

Section 809 of the FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf requires 3rd-party debt collectors to give debtors written notice of debt (the key word is *shall*) :
"§ 809. Validation of debts
(a) Within five days after the initial communication with a consumer in connection with the collection of any debt, a debt collector shall, unless the following information is contained in the initial communication or the consumer has paid the debt, send the consumer a written notice containing?
(1) the amount of the debt;
(2) the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed;
(3) a statement that unless the consumer, within thirty days after receipt of the notice, disputes the validity of the debt, or any portion thereof, the debt will be assumed to be valid by the debt collector;
(4) a statement that if the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, the debt collector will obtain verification of the debt or a copy of a judgment against the consumer and a copy of such verification or judgment will be mailed to the consumer by the debt collector; and
(5) a statement that, upon the consumer?s written request within the thirty-day period, the debt collector will provide the consumer with the name and address of the original creditor, if different from the current creditor."

A Collection Agent May Not?

Here are the top 11 actions prohibited by the The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act:

Misrepresent Him or Herself

A debt collector may not misrepresent himself as an attorney or law enforcement officer.

Use the Telephone to Annoy or Harass

A collection agent may not cause a telephone to ring or engage any person in telephone conversation repeatedly or continuously with an intent to annoy, abuse, or harass anyone at the called number.

Threaten Arrest or Lawsuit

A collection agent may not threaten a consumer with arrest. It may not threaten legal action that is either not permitted or not actually contemplated. In other words, a the threat of a lawsuit may be an empty one.

Use Abusive or Threatening Language

A debt collector may no use abusive or profane language in the course of communication related to the debt.

Publish a Bad Debt List

Publishing the consumer?s name or address on a "bad debt" list is prohibited.

Contact By Embarrassing Media

A debt collector may not communicate with a consumer by post card. It may not use any language or symbol, other than the debt collector?s address, on any envelope when communicating with a consumer by use of the mails or by telegram. A debt collector may use its business name if such name does not indicate it is in the debt collection business.

Contact a Consumer at Work

A collection agent may not communicate with consumers at their place of employment after being told this is unacceptable or prohibited by the employer.

Seek Unjustifiable Amounts

A debt collector may not demand any amounts not permitted under an applicable contract or as provided under law.

Contact a Consumer Represented by an Attorney

A collection agent may not contact a consumer after it learns the consumer is represented by a lawyer.

Communicate With a Consumer After Receiving a Validation Request

If a consumer sends a written §1692g response within 30 days, the collection agent may not communicate with the consumer until it mails the consumer the requested verification of original creditor's name and address.

Communicate With Third Parties

A debt collector may not reveal or discuss the nature of a consumer?s debts with third parties other than the consumer?s spouse or attorney. A collection agent may contact neighbors or co-workers only to obtain location information. It may contact a third party again if it has reason to believe the information the party provided previously is false.

Bills.com FDCPA FAQ

Below are questions Bills.com readers ask frequently:

Can a Collection Agent Call My Cell Phone?

Yes. However, if you tell the debt collector it may not use that number because it is a cell phone, it may not contact you again at that number.

I Keep Receiving Dozens of Calls From Collection Agents. Is That Legal?

No. Unscrupulous collection agents will use "block parties" or "office parties" where they contact a consumer, multiple neighbors, or co-workers telling them they need to reach the consumer on an urgent matter. This is not permitted under the FDCPA.

A Collector Says I Will Be Arrested if I Do Not Pay

This was a true statement before the US Civil War, but has not been true since. People may be arrested if an aggressive judge files a bench warrant for a person who does not appear at a hearing relating to a lawsuit regarding a debt. However, in that case, the offense is the failure to respond to a court order, and not the existence of the debt. As stated above, it is illegal under the FDCPA to threaten a consumer with arrest if the consumer does not pay the debt.

I received several messages from phone # 605-496-0553 threatening me with a law suit and they also told me they would be contacting my HR department at my employer. They said that I could avoid going to court by contacting them and making a payment. Different people call me 3 times a day with an auto dialer. I don't know what they are calling about. They mentioned an old payday loan. I'm not paying these scammers a dime!

This is a company that tries to buy up and collect on old debts from companies. The have called and tried to say that I had fraudulent charges pending for some account I had with Quik Pay, I told him that I was actually paying that off thru a legit company and was almost finished paying it off, he then asked for the last four numbers of my "orginal" account and said that they didn't match the ones they had. I told him that I had only had one transaction with previous company and that he needed to "do what they needed to do" and that I would have my lawyer contact them. That shut him up!

I just got off the phone with these people. They told me I owed 400 dollars to Quick pay pay day loans back in 2007. I said I don't recall owing a quick pay anything. I asked them to furnish me with documentation and was told that I already have it sent to me but I never received any correspondence from a quick pay or a collection agency. They had my old address in another town and the name of a bank that I no longer have an acct with. They said that since it had been 7 years my debt was now over 900 dollars because of late fees and interest but i could settle today for $200 and not be summoned to court. They said there is a civil suit be filed against me in Washington. That they are in South Dekota and since i am in AZ, I am really confused about this. They said that if I don't respond and get summoned to court, I could get arrested. When I asked for credentials and proof of who they were things got really unclear. He told me that after I did my research I could call them back. Told me they were AA and associates and that they are arbitrators but they don't have a website and all I could find was an AA collections in South Dakota same area code and exchange but different number.

I just got off the phone with this Terrance guy. I told him to remove my number because he is calling a business number and that I am aware this was a scam. He told me people who don't pay their bills report businesses like his as scams. He then gave me information of someone who wasn't me said that it was regarding a loan with Quick Pay and I was being charged with breach of contract and attempt to defraud a financial institute. I told him he had the wrong person and he said "sorry I can't help you out."  He is very pushy saying he is only doing his "job" and I can see how innocent people could fall for this.
