Well, I found out the prefix(948) is for a small town called Hoven South Dakota website of the town(hovensd.com) lists the businesses in town, the only one of interest may be a small bank and credit card issuer. Don't know if that helps, but it's all I was able to find out.

phone call on friday 4-25-08 I didn't know the number so I did not answer it.  No message was left.   Tired of these calls........

Phone showed a missed call. Was from 605-948-9988 on 4-25-08.  Apparently it is fortunate I was not around to answer the call.

They called me and cussed me out in spanish. when i called right back, it was disconnected

to my cell--last call 4-25-08 at 2:46 p.m. no msg left this time but have left msg before.  from spanish-sounding male, couldn't understand msg.  so strange how many calls to people on this date--creepy!  I called back this time and # could not be completed as dialed.

Yeah I got a call from this number on the 25th and didnt pick up. Prolly a scam.

Yes you can, Jail Bird do it all the time, I know got suckered in once.So maybe you need to stop thinking and do research first, before speaking up.

I knew it was a call forward scam, same thing happen to me some years ago from a girl trying to call her mother from jail. She wanted me to call moms work number and put in the ext. I did and got a high bill that month, the phone co never could find them.So you can forward calls, but not sure about cell #.

I had the same call from jail, sob story to call a girlfriend, but I need to push a extension after the number, I hung up on the guy and called the jail.Cop told me the extension number would have forwarded my phone number to the girlfriend,and they could have talked all weekend on my dime.This is what I found when I googled phone scams.

This is what I was told on the phone and when I googled phone scams.Who ever is posting on here this is wrong is in on the scam. Hang up on the caller and do not press any buttons.

I did not answer, but googled the number instead. Sounds like they want you to push a number so your number will be transfered to their phone. That way they can call anyone using your account. One way to get a outrageous phone bill.

i got this call too WEll i did a little reasurch and i found out that the 605 # is from Java, South Dakota

I got the call on April 25th at 7:44pm. The ringer was off so I never answered it, from hearing what she sounds like I wouldn't want to talk to her.

I had a missed call from this number at like 10:20 friday morning (4/25) I'm from iowa, and use verizon... i've had this number for 7 years and have never gotten spam calls.

Got the phone call at 6:54PM. Didn't answer though.

Got the same missed call you all at 8:18pm. Was doin other stuff and didn't here it ring. Anyways, tried to call it back and was automatically disconnected.

yeah i missed one of these calls today too.  i just got my new cell number, so hardly anyone has my new number on file yet. wonder if someone at the telco is selling numbers.
