Got a call today from a Ryan maxwell from Murphy law office regarding a payday loan left message on my work voicemail.when I returned called threatened to have me put in jail for not paying the loan but would not give me the name of the lender.

I received a phone call from 605-983-6092, from AJ Scott from Murphy law firm. He called my work several times today, talked to my co-worker and said this was an urgent, time sensitive legal matter and if I didnt call them today that I was going to jail for a criminal offense. They left similar messages on my cell phone and home phone. I called them back and was told I owed $932 for non-payment of a payday loan. I do have one of these loans and had made arrangements to pay them back, so I was scared!! AJ Scott is very hard to understand and threatens with legal action. I call my local courthouse and police office, to find out their are no warrants for my arrest and the courthouse told me is was a scam and you cant be arrested for non-payment of a payday loan.

I got the call on Monday afternoon and the lady said she was from Stevens Law Firm from Rapid City, South Dakota saying I owed Advance America 8,000 dollars for a 500.11 dollar loan that I never took out. She read me the social and it was one number from mine also the DL# was wrong also my address. When I asked for her name and address she didn't want to give it to me, but eventually she did. Then I asked her again what the social and DL# were and when she read them they were mine to a tee. Was really freaked out so I called the sheriffs and police departments. I now have a police report on file. But these people called my work and spoke to my boss. Then today I got a call from the states attorneys office and said his name was A.J Scott and when I hung up on him he called back 6 times gonna change my number but it is really scary So call your bank and social security office and let them know what is going on. But it is all just a scam so don't stress out too bad I was super freaked out but now I feel a little better knowing im not the only one who this is happening to. So thanks for the reassurances and a little piece of mind.

NOT REAL no way if  the police had a warrant for you would be in jail already this collection agency`s are scams you might have requested a on line loan and the company that u applied for a loan sold your information not only to them but thousands of illegal agency`s  so don't worried hang up and that`s it or reported to your local police department and the federal trade agency!!!

received phone call from this number. they told me that its and emergency and we need to respond to it right away or call back on above number and contact Mike P. And start threatening. We made police report and let them have all recorded audio notes.

They just called me stating there was papers filed against me and that unless I paid them $642.00 right now someone would be to my job to arrest me. What is this about?

I am glad to head I am not alone with this, I just got this phone a few minutes ago and it scared the crap out of me! I am glad I found this tread and saw that it is a scam, still however taking the corrrect steps and calling the police department to see what they say. I feel so uch better knowing this is a scam, I have applied for pay day loans but have never actually gotten any, so this was extremely fishy! These guys need to be stopped!!!

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

No collector can threaten with jail that's against the law. They are fraud dnt worry.... I been working in collections for years Boone can be arrested for a payday loan they are scammers.

I told him I have no attorney and what type of attorney was he needing. He said the one representing me. I stated for what they never sent me documentation and he claimed to be calling from the so called attorney's establishment but couldn't explain why it sounded so much like a telemarketing establishment. If he really was calling from his "So Called Firm's office he was representing AND calling on behalf" it would not have all the feed back going on in the back, I am going to school studying law. What a douche hole.

This number has called 5 times today and even left a very detailed messages on my answer machine but when i called back and asked for information they refused to give it to me. They are just trying to extort money out of anyone they can!!! HANG UP ON THEM AND TELL THEM YOUR GOING TO REPORT THEM AND SEE HOW FAST THE CALLS STOP!!!

I got a call from this 605-983-1007 letting it go to my voicemail then a guy named AJ Scott claiming to be from Stephens Law Firm called my job from same number work for a very big company so they do not allow us personal calls telling my job it was refering to a legal issue, they told them we were not aloud to have personla calls, got a email from the higher ups. listen to my voice message from the same guy threating me stating good luck I would go to jail in all. PLs let me know if this is a scam. Was not long ago I just went thru this w/ another suppose to be law firm.

They called me three times this week stating that I owe money and that there is a warrant out for me.  I kept asking them who had the warrant out and they kept. changing the subject and wanted to confirm the social security number which was correct  but I told them that they were a scam and not to call me again even though they did it again!   They have an accent that sounds like they are from India....  

Also I called the real Stephen's Law Firm  (605) 394-9101 and they said they get dozens of phone calls about this all the time, it is a scam and they have reported it to the police but apparently have not been caught yet.

Also I believed they gathered my information from applying to payday loans online. I will never ever apply to payday loans again. Too much scams online!

Some guy has been calling me back to back leaving me harassing voicemails saying that I can no longer run and I will face the consequences. I call back, the number gives a busy signal, I try again and get someone, he immediately knew who I was before I even said my name, must have caller ID. He said I am going to be arrested in 3 hours and hung up in my face. I called back several times and he kept hanging up in my face. He answers the phone and finally tells me he is calling because I owe $642 for a loan called US loans, could not even give me details on it and wanted me to pay. Was very very rude, transferred me to some guy named Mark Johnson who claims he works for Stephen's Law Firm in Rapid City, SD.

I have revived a call from this number telling me I'm going to be arrested  if   i don't pay the amount of  8434.00.  They are calling my job  .they say they are  a  law firm .  What is up  ?  They say I'm going to federal prison unless   i pay them.

I received a very threatening voicemail on my cell and while listening to it the same number popped up on my work phone.  Stating they are calling me from Stephen's Law Offices, repeated my social security number and address to me and I told them they had the wrong person although it was my correct information.  The threatening voicemail scares me and I'm wondering who we can report this stuff to?

I got a call today twice. I do have a loan out BUT i'm in contact with the lender. I got a call stating that they are with Stephens law firm stating that i have 3 hrs to pay my balance or they will come serve me at my place in employment(i'm in employed) and have a cop come arrest me. I had my mom call back and they couldn't even give us a case number. I'm still waiting to see if they call back.

I had the same thing happen to me tonight it freaked me out yes I did get a payday loan and I have not been able to pay it back and they said I was goin to go to jail. I was really scared bit I am so glad I have the internet and there are people that are or have went though the same thing so I feel so much better thank you guys.

Got 3 calls total today from this idoit, stated that I needed to go to Walgeen's  or Rite- Aid and to call him when I got there. I called my Mom, she looked this up and said this was a scam going on.
