I keep getting a call from 607-252-6856 and the recording tells ME to wait for the next available representative.  I read that it's supposedly from Xcel Energy, but the fact that the recording asks me to wait on hold makes me suspicious.  Why would I wait on hold if THEY CALLED ME?  I've received calls from Xcel in the past, but never from that number and I've spoken to a PERSON when they've called from other numbers.  They are obviously harassing a lot of people judging from the comments.  Someone should let them know that harassment is illegal.

This phone number keeps calling me 607-252-6856 every time I answer they hang up.  They call late at night and all day long.

30 DEC 2011 - Warning: This is "ROBO-CALL" MISERY.  If this number is calling you, IT'S A RECORDING!  Please don't waste your time trying to answer this number, unless you actually are a customer of Excel Energy Co., or unless you think that it's for your own overdue bills.  

Here is what happened:  607-252-6856 kept calling us.  We finally answered it, and a recorded voice say that someone needed to telephone the 888-220-8409 number.  The (607) phone calls kept coming in, day and night--and that (607)area code is totally unfamiliar to us!  (Calls came all day, for weeks, arriving from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., to 10:30 p.m.)  Upon our answering the 607 incoming call, A RECORDING SPOKE, telling us, "This call is for JASON OSBORNE: Please call 888-220-8409, regarding your account.  Give the reference number 156398."

They had a wrong number!  "We are NOT Jason Osborne!"  So, we called the number that (607) gave to us, namely 888-220-8409.  

If this is happening to you, PLEASE, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME PHONING EITHER NUMBER--(888), OR (607)!  Service Representatives did NOT answer--only a system telling us that we had reached Excel Energy, and saying, "All Representatives are busy--please continue to wait."  After we had waited for at least four minutes, the recoding changed from saying that they were all busy.  It appeared that the robo-system was set up to limit how long a person would be permitted to wait to speak to a real person, and so, it then said, "Please enter a box number, or wait on the line for to leave a brief message."  We could also simply hold the line, and it would take our message after a tone sounded.  As soon as it did give us a beep, though, it promptly announced, "This box is full.  Please call back later.  Good-bye."  And it HUNG UP ON OUR CALL!   Four minutes, 56 seconds wasted!

How RUDE!

It appears to us that Excel Energy must feel perfectly comfortable harassing perfect strangers, and that it doesn't care about anyone!  If it did care, it would have made decent provision for innocent people--offering a writing address to which they can respond.  Not even our own own cell phone company is able to stop these "spam calls."   That means we are still going to continue to experience them, even though we have phoned and tried to do the right thing!

TIME OF CALLS: Daily, from eight a.m., to half-past 11:00 a.m., and then again at dinner time, or at 10:00 p.m. or later.  Please...ATTORNEYS...!  Can you do something about this?  There are probably thousands of people who are very upset.  They will bless your kindness, and your goodness of heart and spirit, if only you can stop this frustrating thing from happening to everyone, over and over again.

They call my number 6-10 a DAY and I have an automatic payment set up. I called and complained of harrassment. they never leave messages and call constantly OVER IT!

I am not sure why there are so many conflicting answers posted.  The person I spoke to at Xcel said he had no idea who this # was from.
I have only received 2 calls from them with no message left.  They did answer as "Xcel Energy" .  I told them I did not believe him and he acted weird and said hold on while he was shuffling some papers.  I hung up on him and called Xcel Energy.  They said no one had tried to call me from Xcel and even if they had, it would have been from an 800# and they always leave a message.  The person I spoke to was actually going to call this 607# and find try to find out who they are.   DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY PERSONAL INFO.  Excel Energy # is 800-895-4999

It may be xcel energy, it may not, but plain and simple is, it is HARRASMENT!  I have my bill, and i know when its due. I do not need anybody calling me randomly throughout the day. EVERYONE must report this to the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY as harrasment, and any other anti harrasment web sites..the sites associated with the government work best. usually ending with .gov..also unless you have had your current phone number for 10 years or more it was someone elses before you.. sometimes it was someone elses number yesterday.. and in my case the guy who had my new number did not pay his bills. and all the debt collectors call his listed number to collect and tada his old number is my new number and so i get all his unpaid debt collection calls. all a***oles should remember that its a small world and yes there is still Karma (what comes around goes around)

This number called today and i answered it because it said xcel energy. I just paid my bill with them so i assumed it was them reminding me it was due.. but when i answered it was a recorded message saying thank your for calling wells fargo this number has changed please call so and so number.. wth???

that number keeps calling my cell phone which I know is not associated with our xcel account in any way at all.  I haven't called it back, but it does not leave a message (which seems like the real xcel would) and I know I'm not past due.

Look i know everyone here has got this call i am a 13 year old girl my best friend nikki is 12 this number has called and called i have no account so y are they calling me truely i think someone is stocking me and my friend we got on facebook and the same thing happen some one has haked in our accounts they will not stop i get this call in school home even late at night one time i answered it was a man talking saying he can she me then said look out side this happen when i was 12 on my birthday my 13th birthday same thing late at night this is not cool and its scary this has been a year i always tell them to stop but they wont my mom knows and she told them to stop to they always hang up kinda strange they now my birthday and started when i was 12 my friend is 12 and this is happening to her. we live in colorado if it happens agian i am calling the cops.

I'm only seventeen and they call me at least three times a week. I don't have any associations with the company and have never lived in New York. Is there any way for me to be taken off their calling list?

Its NOT Xcel.  It is NCO Financial, a collection agency that works for Xcel.  They are the worst of worst collection agencies.  If you want to pay Xcel, then send them a check.  Xcel uses NCO Financial to process their credit cards too.  Don't do it.  Ever.

Someone from this number called me but when I answer there is no one there. Very frustrating.

this caller had name, account number.....sounds like a scam for sure...fishing for credit card numbers and bank account info......  i called them on the toll free number they gave.....got a recording but no human picked up the phone.

new jersey, very suspicious, had calls from new jersey before. they seen to have a boiler room operation going there.   BEWARE !!!!

OK, I got a call back from the investigate dept. at Xcel and they said IT IS LEGIT. I am 2 days late on my bill. Never got a call before when I was 2 days late, but so be it.

The message said it was Xcel Energy, BUT they had my old name on the account. Also, the 888 # they told me to call back didn't seem to match Xcel. Sounded fishy, so I called Xcel directly and told them about it, and they had me talk to one of their investigators and give him the info. So it *seems* to be a scam. I would not call them back if I were you, but instead, call Xcel directly (you can get the number from their website). I'm in CO as well.

I have gotten calls from them... ilooked them up and everything says that they are xcel. My Xcel bill is auto deducted and the payment has gone thru, plus the payment was early. I will call the number back to discuss. I called Xcel directly(using the number from the website) and no one at xcel can look up this number and this number has no affiliation with excel
