I did some more checking and found out through someone I know at NYSEG that what these people are after is your account number and your PoD id number. Once they have this info, they can switch your electric provider without your permission or knowledge. Then they charge you an exorbitant fee to cancel with them and switch you back. Do not give out any information.

Got a call from this number. They asked for the person "in charge of paying the electric bill". I hung up.

This is some company trying to get you to switch your electric provider by offering some bogus discount program . They ask you to get your nyseg bill so they can get your account number and other information. I called nyseg and this is what they told me. The guy made it seemike he was associated with nyseg but he's not. I did not give any info. Going to cile a complaint with the NYS attorney General and BBB.
