1-(607)-727-1572 called the house today and told my husband that he qualified for free diabetes testing meter and strips. They asked him to read some information off of his medicare card, but my husband refused to give them his Social Security number. They insisted, saying they needed it before they could send him his "free" stuff. He stood firm and refused to tell them the SS number. They finally gave up.

A man called and asked if there was a diabetic in the home. I said "no" and then he said "great, take care of yourself." ...no other conversation. Is this some kind of scam?

I have received several calls over the past few days and picked up yesterday. The caller said he was from the Diabetes Management Program and wanted to talk to the diabetic in the house. I hung up but when I noted it was New York cell phone number I became concerned it was a scam.

Took call, was for husband, when I asked who they were, the guy said Diabetic Management, I hung up. The guy actually called back and I let it go to voicemail. Message was "Don't worry, we'll ask Medicare to deny your benefits". Sounds like a threat to me and I'm going to call Medicare, not that they will do anything about it, but you never know. Being on the Do Not Call registry isn't worth very much.

This is the 3rd time in 3 days we've received a call on our home phone from this number. I've not answered and they hang up after 3 rings

This is a diabetic supply type call. Caller wants your medicare number so that they can send you "free" blood sugar testers.
No wonder we have problems with Medicare costs!! Probably like the $1,000 hammers the miltary buys from their contractors.

Yes this has also happened to me 3 times always also a hang up after I answer. Thanks for the above post!!!

My father (88 years old) received call from 607-727-1572. Wanted to send him
diabetic supplies. He gave them his medicare number. How do I stop this
transaction?

Wireless caller. Wanted to know if I was diabetic. Knew my mailing address. Stated Medicare pays for 2 blood sugar monitors per year and wanted to send a new one. Wanted number on red, white and blue Medicare card. I declined as that is MY Social Security number and I did not initiate the call.
Is this an IDENTITY FRAUD attempt???

Numerous calls on home phone from this # in last few days (late Oct 2011). No messages left on answering machine. Calls always come late morning or mid-day Eastern Time. Shows up as cell phone # on my home phone.

Rec'd call 10/26/11 for my husband. He was out. I thought the call was on the up-and-up and gave his Medicare #. Starting wondering about it and looked on internet. Would really like to know if it is legit.

Yes these people called me too, except I answered and they said they were calling about my father's diabetes care. Needless to say, he doesn't have diabetes. They are definitely a scam, do not give them any information!!!

Boiler room sounds in background, uneducated-sounding female caller sounded dazed and was unable to pronounce my very simple family name which is no harder to pronounce than "apple" or "peach".
When I enquired who she was, and what was her business, she went silent, then hung up.

I have received 2 calls from 607-727-1572. The first came in at 11:25 AM CST on Oct. 21st, 2011 and the 2nd one at 10:32 AM CST on Oct. 25th, 2011. Both calls rang 4 times before quitting. I was not able to answer these calls due to the fact I must walk slowly in order not to fall. I had a stroke 7 years ago. The call comes from a cell phone located in Kirkwood, NY and I know of no person living in that area or by that number. I put the number on my Comcast call block.

Received a call from (607) 727-1572, Diabete Management Association. I advised him that we had told his people numerous times. We did not want their calls and to put our number on their "Do Not Call" list. It should be noted they used a cell phone to call from in order to get around some of the blocking software.
