I just got a call from 607-733-1419. NY call. Said it was Windows support. They told me that they had received an error message from my computer ID number. I asked them for my ID number and he gave it to me. I said he was wrong. Then I said "can you repeat that number again?" And he said he was "ooking for Michelle W****."  said "Yes,that's me, what's my ID number again?" He repeated the same number. Again, I told him he was wrong. He laughed at me and said "you're lying!" I said "And you're going to lie to me also so we're even, so,now what do you want?"  then he hung up

I get phone call from some guy claiming to be from optimus help desk regarding something with my computer.  he immediately wants me to go to my computer.  of course I tell him no and inform I will report him to attorney general (I plan to do this and also notify local news).  this is obviously a scam and something needs to be done before some unknowing sole falls to his prey.  this was a man on the phone and he did not speak English very well.

Called and said he was calling from some tech department about my computer. I asked him to repeat himself and he did, then said I had a sweet voice. I hung up. He called back again and immediately said he liked my voice, and I told him I do not take calls from strangers and hung up again.

Caller with strong Indian accent identified himself as "Jack Wilson" from the "Windows Service Center" to help me with a problem with my computer he identified through the "default gateway."  I don't have windows on my computer. He asked me to boot up my computer . . . so I asked whose computer at this address he was calling about.  He gave the house address and the name of someone living here, but not the person whose name is listed for this house phone. Very scary that he had this much information and was definitely trying to get more info. Hung up. The call type choices don't include "scam."

Received a call stating that I was selected to receive grant money.  Couldn't understand most of what the lady was saying as she had a very thick accent.  She started to tell me to go to Western Union.  When I said I didn't know what she was talking about she hung up.  I guess this is a common scam.

Got call from this number 607-733-1419 claiming my computer was sending them viruses and that he was from the windows software company and that I needed to fix it. He instructed me to navigate to a certain window on my computer that did show some error messages.I stopped there and started asking him more questions about who he worked for and why they had never called me before. He was vague in his answer. I told him I was going to leave my computer alone and he told me if I did not want to proceed that that was fine. I hung up. I never never gave him proxy control or entered any pass words. I felt it was some kind of scam.

A foreign sounding person said  he was with "Windows technologies" and he wanted me to sign on my computer and he would help me get rid of deadly viruses.   I said I wouldn't and hung up.  He had the nerve to call back and said that this was important and that I must do as he said.  I told hiom not to call again.
Very convincing scam!

Called me today. I never answer unless I have my "Phone Tray Free" hooked up. You can google it. It is a software package that allows you to use your computer's modem to handle/block nuisance calls - only caveat is that you must have a phone cord connected to your computer and the software running in order to block calls. But if you get a call when you don't have your computer connected, you can add the nuiance number in manually later.

3 weeks ago I returned home (to Switzerland) from a trip to the USA. Ever since I received calls from this number over my cell phone, which I stopped in the meanwhile by barring all calls originating from the U.S. for the moment.
I believe that some companies like car rentals or hotels in the U.S. are selling their customer information such as phone numbers or E-Mail addresses to interrested parties (as is common practice here in Europe) despite laws against unfair practices.
In the future, I shall state a phone number like 123-456 7890 and a trash mailbox address whenever possible.

I just received a call from a woman saying that she was from Windows 7 Support and asked me to check my computer.  She even gave me a CLISD number that would be exclusive to my computer and to check it to make sure she was legimate.  She told me that I could unplug my internet and that I would be safe?  With all the scams going around, I did not trust her and said I would have a technician look at my computer rather than to let her show me where any files were located and how to delete them.  She sounded very convincing until I did a reverse look up on her number only to find out that it was definitely a scam - a new twist to the old scams.  I am aware of the scams and don't usually listen to them but I did today and found out that they can be quite convincing.

Yes, you can stop the calls!  I received one, sometimes up to three calls a day from Canadian Pharmacy using this and a dozen other numbers. for over 3 years until I finally fought back! Here's the secret: Their computer makes tens of thousands of calls a day, routed through different numbers all over the country, only connecting you to a salesperson when you say "hello".  At the first sign of negativity, they simply hang up. It costs them nothing! You will never get off the automated call list until you order something.

So DO IT! Be sure to ask lots of questions, change your mind several times, haggle on price. Then give them your address, email and credit card number (all fake!). The first time I kept the woman on the phone for 45 minutes. After she ran the fake card number (always use the correct first 2 digits), she desperately tried to call me 10 times a day for 3 days. Finally I answered and told her the credit card was canceled and gave her another. 3 more days of calling with no answer and it all stopped - for 3 months!!

I repeated the process, this time saying I had no credit card and was in the middle of switching bank accounts. After an hour on the phone fielding my stupid repeat questions and placing a $200 order, he sent instructions (to a fake email) on how to pre-pay using Western Union. He called 10 times a day for a week to figure out why they hadn't gotten the money before it all stopped again. 3 months later, here they come again. No biggie. I'm starting to enjoy this!

They make their money by selling to one of every 10,000 calls. It takes only a tiny percentage of fake orders to waste enough time for their entire marketing strategy to go bust. The salespeople get frustrated, make no commissions and quit. The company spends $1000 training another replacement. Their phone banks are stalled taking orders that only cost them money. Try it, its fun!

Put them out of business - REPOST THIS FOR EVERY NUMBER THEY USE
