It is a scam. The UWCU teller said it is a major criminal right now. Do NOT call to this number.

I just got this message too...well, it came about 2 hours ago.  From 414--791-7896.  So happy for forums like this to have other people confirm it's a scam.  of course it was fishy to me since my ban is NOT in a 414 area code and it came from a different number than the number they wanted me to call.

I received a similar text and right away felt it was a phishing attempt but still wanted to look up the number. This is the number it said to call but the number the call was from was 856-332-1454. When I looked up that #, others were getting similar messages. Mine said:

"CREDIT UNION CENTER ALERT: Your CARD has been DEACTIVATED. Please contact us at 608-237-7139."

I work at a credit union.  This IS a scam.  Do not respond!!!

I work for a cell company. This happened to me :-) Wrong person. I have fraud working through the inter carrier to track this one down.

Got text from this today telling me my card had been canceled. Text came from 256-347-2846. Some where in AL. Was telling me to call 608-237-7139. I was certain it was a scam. For giggles I called the number from an public phone. Ask you for nothing more then your credit card number so they can activate it. Duh... Major scam. If I knew who to report this to I would in a heartbeat.

i got a text saying that my card has been deactivated and to call that number.

Called my cell phone.
