This guy called me, they said its about my 3 year factory warranty on my vehicle (Nissan), and I said I already am Covered by the dealership 10 years, 100k miles.
He was very rude after that, he was like well this is for the factory warranty, should i go ahead and renew now, and I said no, i said cancel. He said well you will be missing out, you arent covered by your dealership on these items (listed them), should i go ahead an renew, and I said NO CANCEL, and he said OK state your first and last name and your declining coverage. I said Yes I decline coverage.
He goes, you didnt state your first and last name, I said you have my first and last name and hung up.

That's funny, my caller ID for this number comes up TASTE OF HOME. They never leave a message, and in fact, only let it ring 3 times so they can avoid voice mail. I assumed it was the magazine Taste of Home since I did have a subscription that ran out, but I'm not interested in renewing it over the phone so I don't answer. I'm glad I haven't since apparently it isn't necessarily Taste of Home, it could be 'Discover', 'Career Institute', 'Legal Right WCA', 'Health WCA BNFT', 'doctor's network', 'college search', 'a prize line', etc.
How is it that one number can have multiple identities on caller ID? They can stick it...

DIscover is what my caller ID said: I was at work when the call came in. I was checking my missed calls when I got home. No message was left. How does the same number have different caller ID's. I wonder how easy it is for them to change it. I am sure not from Discover card company. It is probably a scam making you think it is really from them!

This is a company wanting you to pay for them to search for a college for you or your child. Something that is free through your high school or on-line at @ college search.org. However by calling them back there is an option to have your number removed

I got a call from this number tonight. It was a scam about winning 100,000 air miles and a trip to Cancun.
Cooki 2011-09-23 23:42:44 Telemarketer
Its a recording saying I won 100,000 AIR MILES...Yup 100,000 AIR MILES!
Redeemable for an all inclusive vacation for up to 4 people at an exclusive resort.
Press 1 to speak to a rep, press 3 to be removed from the list. I pressed 3. Not waiting a long time on hold just to find out they want a credit card number to "hold" the spot and pay the taxes. NOPE!
And, if I really won, a REAL person would call!
I won a major prize once.....a real person called. SO people.....if its not a real person immediately asking for you.....press 3 and save your money. I go on Princess Cruises for less than what they say are the taxes for these ridiculous calls. BUYER BEWARE!!
I called this telemarketing......we need a spot that says.......prerecorded marketing or something.

Yiikes! All they wanted was your phone number! (They otherwise can't tell which random dialed number returned a hit.) They can fit that together with your address and name - both easily available through reverse searches online. The only thing missing in the process is your credit card/ debit card number and these outfits can get around that too. Please, everyone. Do not allow yourself to be vulnerable to swindlers. NEVER give out personal information on the phone. Period. If you see an unknown call on your phone, don't pick up. If you do pick up, don't speak. A live caller on the other end will hear the open line and identify themselves. If you don't recognize them or have any known reason to have received a call from them, hang up. If, instead, you hear the start of an automated message, hang up immediately. Do not press any keys on your phone, even if its an invitation to avoid further calls. Never give them your name, address, phone number or any other personal information. Use your phone company's Call Block system instead. Some of these scammers may already seem to be aware of your credit card number and will ask you to confirm that you are the card holder. In that case, hang up and register as much information about the call as you can with the fraud registry of the police.

Definitely related. Thanx for clearing this up for me. Recently applied for a job online myself (about a week ago).

hello John, I just got a call from the same # with nobody at the other end. The only thing I can think of, is "call-block". I have it on my phone, so that is what I'm going to do. Good luck. Hope they lose our #s

They have called here several times now.
After reading the messages posted here, I called the number back.
I got a message saying "Thank you for calling the doctors' network. Press 1 to be removed from our list."
I pressed 1, and got another message saying "Enter your ten digit phone number".
I entered my phone number, and got a message saying "Thank you."
Then they hung up.

Man, I've suddenly got very lucky! *sarcasm alert*
Same scenario, the automated message said press 1 to take advantage of this prize, and 3 to be removed from the list.
Tried pressing 1 just for giggles, and a live person was suddenly on the line and started asking me questions. The second question was about a credit card. Needless to say, I hung up.
It's a scam... The Kiosk they are talking about a friend entering my name at does not exist.

First time I got a call from The Career Institute they told me it was a follow-up call to my online application. I told them I did not apply online and that they should put me on their do not call list. Since the first call I have ignored further calls, all of which are from different phone numbers. They use the different phone numbers to get around the do not call list request. If they kept calling from the same number after you told them to put you on do not call list they could be sued.

In one day, I got at least 5 calls like this. I answered one of them, they started to offer me some college information. and they started with saying "this is a follow up of ....". If they really need to find me, I think they would leave a message. It was very annoying

Press 2 and then 2 again.

CRAZY! This place has called me from no less than 7 different numbers already! I use google voice, so I've been blocking each one, but come on! How many fricken numbers can you call me from! Don't people get it? This is the information age, and companies like this will be named trash from the get go.
IonRage 2010-12-07 17:07:35 Unknown
I use the Text Free app on iPhone. this number called my text free number, lol. They can't leave a message tho, you just get hung up on. ;)

You all feel my pain, i get 5x calls a day from this place and finally looked it up here today. Thank you for the info on getting off their call list.
mike 2010-11-11 20:05:15 Unknown
I think the job websites like monster sell your info.I applied for a job there and the next day i get call after call from these college places. Before that i got none so i do not believe in coincidences like that.
Anonymous 2010-11-11 16:52:19 Unknown
I get several calls from different numbers all the time. I call each of them back by blocking my number. They have the option to remove your number from their calling list. The surprising thing is, each other the different numbers have the exact same freakin lady telling us to press #2 to be removed. WHAT THE HECK. Damn solicitors.

Whoever said that thing below. Press 2 and then 2 again. Your awesome. It worked
