Debt Collector
These sociopaths use scare tactics to con people into paying off debt that is past the Statute of Limitation or debt that does not belong to them or debt that was already paid off or loans that they co-signed for and where the original debtor defaulted.

Ask them to send you VALID proof -- and not something printed up on a fake phoney letterhead. REAL PROOF... chances are they have none, at least none that is valid, genuine and original.

Once you start paying them (bad idea) it restarts the loan ... even if you don't owe.

Call the local county court and ask to speak to someone to see if there really is a Judgement against you.

Don't ever make decisions when you are in a place of fear, as once they know you are scared they will keep calling and break you down. Once you give them money they will be on your back for more and more -- it will never end. This is what sociopaths do.

The posters on here who say "How about just paying your bills" are the debt collectors posts.

Once you start paying them, the very first payment that goes through, is an admission that you owe the debt -- even if it's very old debt or it's the incorrect amount and/or past the Statue of Limitations (SOL) ... or if it isn't even your debt.

Most often (not always, but quite often) the debt-collectors do NOT even have the original paperwork and proper documents to prove to the Courts without a doubt that you actually owe the money and that it's your debt. They usually show something using their own letterhead or some half-a**ed useless printout or they use some other lame, bogus paperwork or documentation.

1-  If you make even one partial payment, be prepared to pay it ALL back since the SOL renewed ... started the clock ticking all over again.

2- Know that you will be handing over $$$ to low-life people with no conscience. Once it gets into the hands of the unscrupulous people, these sociopaths are capable of doing anything to screw you over.

3- They will also contact other debt-collectors (many debt-collectors belong to some private on-line network that allows sharing of files, information and stories about debtors) to let them know they are getting $$$ from you and that they can go ahead and do the same. These vultures will be swooping around you. That's what they want to happen.

4- If the debt was not paid off, as it should have been, before it was sold to third-party (aka: Vultures) it's kind of risky to set up a payment-plan or agreement with unscrupulous, seedy dark-minded, sinful people who do not play by anyone's rules but their own -- sociopaths. Just my opinion.

5- In my opinion, most people want to pay off their debt and know that they should not have accrued it in the first place ... but stuff happens. The problem is that it's risky to pay it off, at least IMO, once it goes to 3rd party collections. They screw people around and do not play fair.

They do not listen to reason and they have no remorse or ethics or integrity. Your valid requests go in one ear and out the other. You are nothing more than a big $ sign to them.

They all use aliases so you'll never know who they really are or their real name BUT you can learn 'who and what' you are dealing with-- Google 'Sociopath Traits' and that's what you are dealing with when it comes to most debt-collectors.

KeKe,
First of all no one can garnish your wages without going thru a legal process first. 2nd tell them you are willing to work out a deal if they send you the paperwork they have on you so that you can validate or dispute the debt. You may not record them it is against the law in new jersey unless one person agrees to it. If you do not get a bill then send them a cease and desist letter until they do. at that time because they can no longer call you, if they are going to go foward and request you account go for futhur action, you will be notified by mail. you need to make sure all letters you send are return reciept requested so you have proof. If in fact you know that you owe the bill and just do not have the money, then call them and work out a plan to repay. And doing a check over the phone is ok just remember they do not have to wait to deposit it, they will however ask what date the check would be good for, And most if not all collection agencies do record their conversations, to protect you and them. Good luck I hope you can work out a deal.

Probably because there  is no debt to be collected on.  This company is a scam that goes by multiple names and threatens that they are waiting to serve court papers but no case is filed anywhere, and as a debt collector you should have access to systems that can check for pending legal cases.  Additionally, as I stated in my earlier post, I have had to file bankruptcy myself and gave them my atty info.  As a debt collector you should know that once that info is given, the collector is to contact the atty only.  However, not only did this company call back but claimed that I gave the info to a different rep, then said it was a different company because they just got my "account" yesterday, but then said I would have to give her the bankruptcy atty "again". When I asked her to send me proof that her company legally held this "account" that I don't owe, she began yelling and swearing at me.  I told her that I am on the no-call list and if she calls again, not only am I going to sue for the FDCPA violation but for violation of the no-call list.  She got quiet and hung up on me.

Actually, they are a scam because they also go by another name, Wehr, Gerone & Assoc.  I am a debt collector (1st party which is different from 3rd party - what they would fall under).  I also happen to be filing bankruptcy and told them this and gave them my attorney information.  Once that information is given, by law they cannot contact me again, they have to contact my attorney directly.  I received another call and let her know that I had already given my atty info, she said it was another rep, then said it was from a different company because they just got my "account" yesterday, then said that I need to give her the atty info "again".  I told her that she is in violation of FDCPA for calling me alone, but that she is the third scam company that has called me over this debt that I don't owe AND she refused to send me legal proof that her company legally purchased this bogus account.

* I have seen people inquire on this man and wanted to give you some correct info. The person listed as "William Carty III" is real .. he is not affiliated with collections. I have posted below his information. The number is almost the same as (609) 704-89887 (8989) .. the collection agency was possibly using a dialer or outbound calls generated with a pool of phone numbers that are currently assigned to them. If you contact the Camden County Court Clerk they will acknowledge the same .. the person has a Federal Lien against him but was released of Lien recently. As far as Judgments, there are over 2 pages of judgments on this individual. you can call the Court Clerks office at #856-225-5300 to confirm. Hope this helps you

in respond to the previous person listed as "confused" the name "William Carty III" is made up by an irate debtor. I too have been trying to get public records of this so called 21 Judgements and Liens and in fact I even looked all over the Tri-State area of NJ, PA, NY, MD, etc .. easily put if there are no records listed  then there are no such judgements or liens ... I used to work for the company that this # belongs too which is now "Ware, Girone, and Associates" and I spent too many days trying to correct this issue before. The problem with sites like this is that you can write whatever you want and it doesnt need to be supported. Good Example : I just heard that Chris Christie stopped in and shock hands with everyone there and when leaving he decided to place everyone under arrest and on his way out the President gave them all a pardon .. In other news Obama just had 23 Judgements and 31 Liens placed against him ... wow the power of ignorance is bliss

Simple question : Did you have the payday $ put into your account and spent it after you applied for it? Then I guess you owe it. If you are saying that you took the $ out but don't have to pay it cause some loophole where they are located .. then I guess you are saying that you "knowingly took the money without the intent to pay it back?" what is the difference between that and the thief that sits in jail for theft? .... not much huh??

How can you investigate if this is real or not? Call the companies that you either took out the loans or charge cards or credit cards ..  they will start forwarding you to the person that holds your contract. There are a small amount of fraudulent accounts out there .. however about 99.999% of them are legit and you owe it .

It seems a lot of the comments on here are not only older, but seem that most people have debt consolidating companies helping with their payday loans. If you are paying that service to contact your creditors, why get mad at the collectors calling and doing "their" jobs .. maybe you should call the people you are actually paying to handle these matters and tell them to do their jobs????

Got a call this morning telling me that I need to call them because they have been foward a matter that requires my attention. Naturally I go online to look it up. I see alot of people saying he's a scam and that some of you have had issues with loan companies. I know I have a couple small debts but nothing to do with loan companies. Should I disregard this message? And has anybody had any  contact from them regarding anything other debt? Because as far as Im concerned they can kiss it Ill stick with my lousy credit for now.

I googled him and looked at several, maybe someone should tell them to have him stop drinking and driving. Number 1, if it were not for us having problems paying our debts, they would not have a job. LOL. Nuber 2 I called them today and told them not to call my job anymore, and they started some junk about, why did you give us the number when you applied for the loan. LOL They are a joke, just like the company that gave the loans. They are debt collectors, and they have rules they have to abide by, look up debt collector practice rules, and if they don't follow them you can report them to the FTC.

I've received calls from Mrs. Allen from William G. Sokol's office after regular business hours with extremely vague messages, just to return the call to 609.704.5182 x3106. On the caller ID the name comes up as William Carty III. I've been a victim of identity theft before; so, I have no intentions of paying any money to a law firm for a debt I do not owe. Furthermore, I can not locate this law firm through the NJ Bar Association at all! The PA Bar Association has William Sokol listed at an address in Mount Laurel, but that information has not been updated since 2004. His website www.williamsokol.com states that he deals in Short Sales, Real Estate Law & Loan Modifications, but doesn't give a physical address or phone number. Again, his name does not appear anywhere under the NJ Bar Association and the information listed on the PA Bar Association site is not current. There have been 6 complaints listed with the BBB, 4 of which were closed within the last few months. On www.manta.com, The Law Office of William G. Sokol is listed under debt collection law, and was established in 2007 in Hammonton, NJ, but his Linked-In page states that he only specializes in Real Estate Law in PA and NJ. Why again, would his office be hunting me down? I have no idea!!! I'm not comfortable with this doing business with this "attorney" at all; the messages are extremely vague to say the least. Besides, what attorney makes calls after business hours?

I received a call yesterday evening, but didn't answer the phone. A woman, Ms. Johnson left a message stating that an attorney needed to speak with me regarding a legal matter, and I should return the call. I've been a victim of fraud before; so, I have no intentions on calling back; especially since the message was so vague. When I arrived at work this morning the name William Carty III appeared on my call log. I always research unfamiliar phone numbers, companies  and names; and this site was the first to appear under that name. Which definitely means they will not be receiving a call back from me!
