Scum sent me a SMS as above, name came up although not in my contacts list. I haven't got anything for sale on GUMTREE ! he can do one !

Just had this text from bob wright, thought it strange as bob wright isn't in my contacts? Anyhow, i haven't got an ad in gumtree but i do have one in auto trader.. Partners perhaps? Will be calling auto trader in the morning.

I had an email saying he wanted to buy my ad when I clicked it I had to login and verify my bank details. I then realised it was a scam so I reset my password straight away

Got the same message from bob wright definately bob wrong !!! B,, stard . Never reply to anyone who's name comes up before anybnumbers . Scammer . Scum .

I too have also had the same text/email scenario! If you read the smallprint at the bottom of the 'Gumtree' email which follows it says some rubbish about 'you are subscribed as desertedacademi@yahoo.co.uk'.

No I'm not! So i sent a nice little 'your IP address has been logged and reported' email back to worry them a  little.....

Got a text from an email address! so checked my emails...
So, got email from 'Gumtree' saying someone had offered something for my car which I have for sale.
Clicked on the 'Click Here' to log in within the email.
Put in my email address and password.
Was then asked to put in all my bank details to 'Verify' my account. This was very strange as I had never put in any bank details in the first place so how could they use them to 'verify' my identity!
Closed that screen and went direct to the Gumtree website which logged me in automatically.
I tried to change my password, but it kept saying incorrect password.
Got an email from Gumtree saying my password had been changed!
I immediately deactivated my account!
I have just googled 'bobwright301@gmail.com' to find that this is indeed a massive scam!
How may people would have just filled in their bank details!?!!
DISGUSTING!!

I have followed the instructions have my card details etc...... I've messed up here. What can I do?
I've rang bank to cancel card.
Seriously don't want this to mess me up.

Had a text message this morning asking if I'd contact bobwright301@gmail about the car I have advertised on Gumtree. I emailed him back later and then went to the link Gumtree provided to discover that he wants to buy the advert for my car???!! What is that about? I take it it's a scam. I now wish I hadn't emailed him. What a waste of time!!

Name shows on your phone cos it was sent from Skype,You have an option there where you can put anything you want as your caller name e.g I have my personal mobile no. so If I call any one from skype to mobile it will show my real mobile number as I calling from my mobile.Hope this explains this strange name appearance.

bobwright301@gmail.com is obvious scam do not contact this email address or phone number they will copy your email address and use for sending spam or other scam emails

Had a text message sent to phone from bobwright301@gmail.com saying he had tried to call and wanted to buy my car. My husband sent one back saying try again. I then received an email this was asking for details to retrieve. I supplied these details but did not press continue. My son shown me that you could put a load of rubbish when asked for email address and password and then still be forwarded to the next page for bank details. This is definitely a scam I contacted my bank and they asked me to forward the email he contacted me from. They are passing this onto their fraud team. You would think gumtree would be making everyone aware of this scam hence I will never be using them again.  

Just got the same message myself by SMS.
Saying he has tried to ring me but did not get an answer and asked me to email him because he wants to buy my Car.
Strange really as I too have a 3 tonne Motorhome advertised.
I thought it was a bit odd as his name came up as if he was in my contacts.

Weirdest thing was when the text came threw it came up with name like he was in my contacts :s

got the same sort of message and email email takes you to gumtree then onto a link that asks for name and bank details saying this will not be charged it is just for security dont give any of these details if you get anything from bobwright301@gmail.com ignore it certainly looks like a scam looks like they are after bank and card details to use fraudulantly

Te gumtree car is a 4 tonne Motorhome so he can do one as far as I'm concerned.

I also got this one. Thought it was a scam. Why don't gumtree go after him, Thanks for the posts. Its easy to get pulled in when you think you have had a response to your ad.

I got exactly the same message from this Bob Wright. Sent a text message from his email address, then he emailed me a link to a phishing site.

Also got a message from bobwright301@gmail.com today asking about buying my car! Emailed him and have not heard anything back. This is not the first one I have received in the space of two weeks of advertising on Gumtree a Paul Rawling also contacted apparently from Swansea and his agent would pick the car up! After i asked for a phone call discuss logistics i have never heard from him again!

Dodgy English and plain odd. avoid.

Got a mess from the same email address but different phone number: 262974448. that he is interesting in my car and later at the same day he send me an email from gammtree that he wants to buy my and the ask bank and credit card details for security...

Got the same message from bobwright301@gmail.com about my ad on Gumtree .
However could smell the rat straight away.

I just had the same about MR f****g bobwright301 all about my ad that finished over 3 weeks ago on gumtree... like i will reply after my ad has finished

I received an email from bobwright301@gmail.com satin e wanted to buy my add on gumtree, with a link asking for my bank details! This is what they call a phishing site if I had entered all my bank details this person or company would of had it all

hi this is definitely a scam they usually tell you they will pay you by paypal and ask you to send them a payment request to the email account and then they will send a fake email from paypal saying the money is pending until the buyer I.E the scammer says the item has been received dont know how they think this would work with a vehicle but thats what they tried doing to me for a psp the scam originated in nigeria and i personally blame the uk government for the recent rise in scams after they keep allowing more and more immigrants into the country knowing that said immigrants have been pulling the same scams in france spain and surrounding E.U countries
