DITTO, DITTO, DITTO. call. nothing when i answered...

I've gotten several calls from these people but they never leave a message.  If they are 1 and 1 that's sure not a good way to get my business.

I received a call from this number a moment ago. No message. I do have a domain through 1&1.

Just got a call from 610-560-1500 today. They didn't leave a message...I searched and found this site. I sure am glad I didn't answer! :P

I just signed up for 1and1 for my domain name, and then noticed that I was getting calls from this number. I've never answered.(I'm also not 100% sure they just started calling me, but I did a search and found this page, so I'm suspicious.) I called 1and1, using the number on their website, told them what happened and suggested that maybe someone who has access to their customer contact information is leaking it to scammers. While I was on the phone, I also asked to be put on their "do not call" list, and this seemed weird: they wanted my password to do that. But since I called them, from their website number, I went ahead, but with a little discomfort. The woman I spoke to had the same accent that their support people always seem to have, so it's probably ok. I'm curious, for those of you who've called the 1500 number, what do they sound like? Americans? Other?

Some gangs get hold of lists of addresses and phone numbers, and call them to see if there is someone home, so it's always safer not to answer. Anyone legitimate will leave a message.

Received calls from this number 610-560-1500 - also have an account with 1and1, however I did call the main number back and was put on their internal "do not call" list.  There is NO reason to be contacting current or former customers by phone - as I agree completely with the other posts here.  I would never have used them if I had seen this first.

Certainly must be genuine - after login go to "Contacts" and at the bottom in their HQ address and fax number which is one digit off the suspect number

I just got a domain through 1and1.com and after reading these posts, I'm blocking 610-560-1500 on my phone altogether. They've been calling daily, leaving no messages. If they need to reach me for a technical/billing/nonmarketing matter, they have my email!

This is 1&1. I bought a couple domains from them (3 for $1.50!) and they were calling to "offer" me a multitude of free products for which I am eligible including web design service. I wasn't interested in any of their services because we aren't doing anything with these domains (which completely confused her). Now they just keep calling so "I don't miss out on the opportunity to have all these services for free".

BTW..."free" means it is included in a ridiculously high monthly hosting fee (which in reality shouldn't be more than $5-10 monthly).

I got a call, no message.  Shortly after I bought a domain from 1 and 1.

I've been a 1&1.com customer for something like 10 years now. They are not the best web-hosting company. They used to be really good but their service quality and features have been hit or miss the last 2 years. I am switching to Bluehost.com specifically because 1and1.com made some changes to their control panel that are worse than they used to be.

They call me at least once a month trying to upsell me on packages I don't need or want. I've asked them repeatedly to stop calling me but to no avail. Not much I can do though since I am paying customer of theirs already.

Confirmed with 1&1 support that this number is NOT a 1&1 number. I reported it, and if any of you get this, change your password and list them as spam.

This is a legitimate call from 1and1. Only reason someone might have received a call from them is if you have purchased a domain from them. Since I purchased one from them within the last month, they were only calling to see if I wanted to obtain and purchase a built site from their team which I politely declined.

Can understand the frustrations of others but there's nothing wrong with this call.

These people are calling all the time asking for the password for the registered domain. They pretend to be from 1and1.

I got a call from this number about 6 weeks ago. For me, it is legitimate, it is 1&1 and I am very glad they called. For two reasons, one, I forgot I had those domains, and two, some people were trying to get in touch with me (so they said) on this one number I keep because I had it before I moved. These people said oh we tried to call you to tell you (something really important) but no one could leave a message. Ha! BS. SO there. I can now say well 1&1 called me, here's the record.

This is the phone number for Freehostia.com which is a webhosting service. Its legit, but like most businesses that rely on leads, they can be persistent when in contact with a potential customer because the customer pays for the help...

Even if they fail to identify who they are... They probably assume YOU KNOW who they are because they got your phone number from a website where YOU provided the number and the fine print stated this number would be SHARED with affiliates and others because you didn't OPT OUT of such sharing, OR because such sharing was a condition of your obtaining some sort of web service you could not live without...like maybe FaceBok or JookBox or Itunit or maybe it was something like...  wateva. YOU know what you can't live without, right? It was probably an app you downloaded from android aps for your cellphone. See? Nothing you buy is HOOK FREE. You bit the bait and they pulled you in by your phone numba. Ha. Easy as spit...but hard as chit to shake it off your finga because its absolutely abominably STICKY crap... but its possible. Just DO IT.

I got a call from them today after I purchased a domain from them last week. The guy asked if I'm Fred. I confirmed and then he hung up! If that's going to happen again, my domain will move away in 2 months (as soon as I am permitted to do so)

These people call me in waves.  Repeatedly with no message left and then they'll stop for awhile. And then start-up again.  At some point, before everyone started charging for reverse lookup, I found out the number was registered to someone listed as their "treasurer".  Used to have a URL with them.  No longer do and never will again.  They seem even shadier than Go Daddy.

They have a batch of local numbers listed as +1 610 560 1500 and up.

Wouldn't be surprising if their outgoing number for any of the 15xx offices / branches is +1 610 560 1500

Didn't answer the call. No message was left.
But interestingly enough I did register an additional 1and1 domain last week.
It could be legit  ... as they do from time to time call me with an upsell / offering a free trial month of something or another I don't need. I haven't noted their number before, and it is not in my contact list, so I'll have to keep an eye on it. They'll probably call back within the next week.

I myself registered with 1&1 and have been getting called from this number for a couple of weeks.

It says it is from PA, USA. Suspicious.

Thank you all for your posts regarding this number. I went ahead and called the number. I didn't speak with a "live person" but in their menu they offer various options such as customer service, billing, technical support, etc. They answered as if they were 1and1. I hung up and then called 1and1 through the 1-866 number they offer for technical support. I asked if this number (610) 560-1500 was their number and told them about some of the posts where they had asked for people's password. They said this number was not them and that "no one" should ask you for your password over the phone. Also, I asked them to report them to their security department and they agreed they would do so.
Hopefully they will track them correct the situation.

Recently registered a new domain with 1&1...makes sense reading the other posts. Caller did not leave a message with me either...annoying.

missed a call from them. Recently registered a new domain with 1and1. Settles it for me.

If you have a 1&1 site call them and as them to hide your contact information, this will cut down on the number of scams you will recieve...............    Hide all contact info!!!!!

Oh wow thank you so much for this info!! I just bought the domain on 1and1 and now have different calls coming to me and also letters on my email with different scam!! And it makes me angry already(((((

They called and hang up without leaving a message. Why call if you are not going to indentify yourself by leaving message. If you leave message i will call back to who ever it is.
thanks to this site now i know who it is. 1&1  but i wont call the number.
i used them before for a trial period. didnt like much.
