I got a voice mail from this number on my cell with a request to press one to unlock my Mastercard. that had been locked due to a security problem. No bank name was mentioned. I called my bank and confirmed that there was no lock on my card. Why isn't there a recourse for what is clearly on ongoing scam that is opening permitted to operate.

I received a call from 610-793-8429 about HSBC credit card. SCAM! Called HSBC and they said ignore the call. Thanks for using up my cell phone minutes.

This is a scam - just hang-up. I called customer service at Master Card and they said they did not call me nor is there fraud on my card. I reported this to the Master Card fraud department (be prepared to be on hold a LONG time!). The number that shows on my cell is 610-793-8429 and I have no idea how they got my number since Master Card does not have my cell number. If Master Card wanted to contact me, they would call the only number on file which is my house number PLUS .. since when does a credit card company call YOU to activate a card?

I also received the same message about a MC from HSBC being locked this morning! Another vm was left on my cell phone Sunday evening! I, too, am glad I'm not the only one. I'm going to check my credit report in a couple of days just to be sure.

Left message about locked mastercard account from HSBC. Tried to call back but busy, so I googled it and landed on this blog....What a scam! Glad I found this blog!

I just got this call (10/26/11) I pressed 1 when it prompted but didn't press anything else... I also called the number back and it was busy. The call was about an HSBC MC, which I have... but the account looks fine.

Same thing here - last night call and said it was HSBC account. I do have one of their cards but when it asked for the account information I hung. Always busy on recall.

An automated call from this number said my HSBC credit card had been frozen for security purposes. I hung up and called my card's real customer service number. They said nothing was wrong with my account and the call was probably a phishing scam, looking to get you to give them your info. They said no legit card company would contact you in that way.

Received a call today from 610-793-8429. It was an automated message saying it was from HSBC & that my Mastcard was locked for security reason. It said to press one to unlock my card. I dont have an account with HSBC, nor do I have a Mastercard. I didn't press anything, just waited on the line. The call hung up. When I called back, the line was busy.
