I called the number back and it the message said I had reached the Meyer and Associates do not call list, to be removed from further calls, I need to enter my phone number.  I did it figuring they already have my phone number anyway, we'll see if it works.

Just received a call from 612-284-2474. I called the number back and got their "do not call list" voice mail.  It asked me to enter in my phone number if I want to be added to their DNC list. I hope it works.

Very few businesses, firms etc. are actually forbidden to call you.  Below are the exceptions.  Particularly disturbing is that political parties can actually purchase phone number lists from the DNC  registry.  Also keep in mind that the DNC was set up to be a money making enterprise for the Feds.  They keep the fines low enough so the abusers don't mind paying them and are quite willing to make monthly payments.  Why would the Feds shut down businesses that are a source of income?.  Certainly Barak Hussein would never stop the flow of dollars from the thousands of small fines coming in on a regular basis.  It's all about the money.  They could care less how inconvenienced you are.  That's apparent by the number of exceptions allowed.
Known exceptions[edit source]

Placing one's number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most, but not all, unsolicited calls. The following are exceptions granted by existing laws and regulations - and these types of organizations can register with donotcall.gov and can purchase telephone lists from the Do Not Call Registry [6]
The registry only applies to residential lines, not to business lines.[7]
A person may still receive calls from political organizations. The organization Citizens for Civil Discourse has lobbied Congress to close this exception by developing a National Political Do Not Call Registry where voters can register their phone numbers and ask politicians to take the "Do Not Contact Pledge". Its database is not backed by the force of law and as of November 2008, only 3 politicians running for office signed the pledge.[8]

A person may still receive calls from not-for-profit organizations.[9]
A person may still receive calls from those conducting surveys.
A person may still receive calls from companies with which he or she has an existing business relationship for up to 18 months after his or her last purchase, payment, or delivery from it, unless person specifically asks the company not to call again.
A person may still receive calls from a company up to 31 days[10] after submitting an application or inquiry to that company, unless the company is specifically asked not to call.
A person may still receive calls from bill collectors (either primary creditors or collection agencies). These callers are, however, regulated by other laws, such as those limiting them to calling during "reasonable hours." Some creditors may not call debtors who file for bankruptcy protection.

I actually picked up and was told that it was the Iowa Democratic party--why they are calling from Minnesota, I'm not sure. It was a very aggressive fundraising call.  The caller was actually rude enough I wondered if it really was the Iowa Democrats.

It's R. T. Ryback and he is NOT running for re-election so that would be suspicious to me

I can't believe this number has been harassing people since 2009!  We just started getting calls two days ago - so far, one per day.  If I don't know the name of the person calling (Meyer T., for example) I don't answer.  I figure if it's important they will leave a message.  And, if it is important, they do!  But this kind of calling is out of bounds and so is the suggestion that we take the "survey".  I'll spend my time as I choose, thank you very much.  If this was an up - and - up deal, why the caller ID "Meyer T"?  why not be honest and use "Survey"?  Bad news.  But judging by the number of entries and complaints going back 4 years it doesn't look like anyone has found a way to stop them.
