This is actually Best Buy's fraud department. Got a call from this number shortly after my credit card company alerted me to a suspicious purchase at BestBuy dot com. I suppose it's possible this was the fraudster, but to what end? The caller asked to confirm that I placed the order, when I said I didn't, she didn't try to get any personal information from me, simply said she'd cancel the order. I believe this is a legitimate number, so if you get a call, check your credit cards & bank accounts for suspicious activity.

612-292-2220 its a scam it is not Best Buy I called best buy directly and they called the number and reported them.. They tell you to call them back at 866-241-2749 about your order you placed yesterday so they can process it and leave an order # that is indeed not an order #..

Received a call from this number. I did not answer the call but when I called the number back, 612 292-2220, it was forwarded to 702 292-2220. A woman answered and said she had no idea why the call was forwarded to her number which is the same number other than the area code??? Something's strange and not right here.

this phone number today & asked for a person that does not exist at this address. Then I received an alert that someone was trying to make a large purchase from Best Buy online using my credit card. It has been reported to Best Buy, my credit card company & the police. Beware if you get a phone call from this number. It is a non working Best Buy phone number out of Richfield, Minnesota.

I received a call from this number directly after I cancelled a fraudulent charge at Best Buy. They were asking if I had cancelled a order.

I received a call from this number, but I did not answer it.  When I listened to the voicemail, the caller stated he was from Best Buy and needed to confirm an order I had placed using my credit card.  I knew that I had not placed an order from Best Buy.  I checked my bank account online, and there was a charge from Best Buy for $392.19.  I did not place that order.  I went to their website and called the customer service number listed.  The lady I spoke with did confirm that the number the guy had called me from and the number that he had told me to call was a legitimate Best Buy number.  She said it was their corporate office.  I asked what the attempted thief tried to purchase and she told me it was a computer.  Well, she went on and cancelled the order and advised me to call my bank.  I called my bank and informed their fraud department of the fraudulent transaction and they cancelled my card and will send me a new one.  When I asked where the charge came from, they told me it was from Richfield, Minnesota.  I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

I received a call from this number today. First they asked for someone named Rachael Swanson ( no ideal who that is) Then she asked for me by my first name. Started talking about Best Buy. I have not shopped there in years either online or in the store. Said an order was placed with a visa ending in ****. Not one of mine. I know some of you are saying this is ligit but I smell a rat.

If you placed an order with bestbuy - no matter how - if you have an order number you have an order and this number calls you - YA THINK THEY MIGHT BE RELATED.

C'mon people use common sense please.  Best Buy is headquartered in Richfield MN - your payments show as MN on your banking statements because that is probably where their payment processing equipment is centralized...

Stop feeding into narcissism and just be patient and hear them out.

missed a call from 612-292-2220 two minutes later I called back and was told this is a toll free number for Best Buy but not in use at this time.

It is the Best Buy identity verification department. If you have placed a recent Best Buy.com order, sometimes they call you to verify your identity before they process the order. Its a security thing.

As with Kate, it was Best Buy calling to confirm my address and all that good stuff for an order I made online.

I got the same number calling me today as of 3-23-2012 and I called it back and sure enough it was a bestbuy saying when I called back that this is a free toll number no longer in use. Also I checked my bank account and some one used my check card and bought something in Minnesota and I live in Nebraska. So watch out.
