1.  If it's a "canned" call (recorded, not live) that's your first clue that something is not right.
2.  Any "arbitration" must involve you from the start.  Anything that says your "aribitration" has been resolved, etc., means something's not right..
3.  You must be informed of any legal action against you.  Any lawful action cannot be settled or pursued without your knowledge and a call after the fact does not constitute "knowledge".

I have 27 years with the U.S. Attorney's Office and believe it or not I am getting these calls.  Since I have caller ID, I just don't respond.

I received a call from David Law today also (614-586-4591).  The recording doesn't sound like my name and if they can't get that straight then, what the heck are they doing calling me?  He said "my arbitration case has been decided" and that I should call this number right away or dial 9.  I don't trust anyone who does not notify me in writing that they have some sort of issue with me or my finances and so far, nothing has been received.  Don't know if this is for real or not, but I believe that if it was, I would have received something in the mail.

Just got a phone call with machine saying to call David Law at 614-586-4591, and that my case is going to court.  Something about abritration and to call them immediatly or dial 9 in which I did, but the call was hung up.  I called the number too and nothing, and did a websearch found nothing, but yes out of Columbus, OH as well.  Yes, don't answer or give any personal information out.  Request in writing whatever it is, and I found out what ever creditor they "claim" to be calling you about call that creditor directly and they will give you the number to the "actually" company that may have your correct information.  These are companies that buy the information and ask for more money then you actually owe, and take their precentage, and pay your actual creditor less then what you owe.  It's a scam!!!

I live in Oklahoma and received a call from (405)214-9422, which is out of Shawnee, Oklahoma. When I answered it gives a recording saying they are David Law then say something about arbitration and something regarding my file. The recording tells me to call them at (614)586-4591 to discuss the case. I don't know who these people are, my husband tried calling the 614 number from his phone and said it wouldnt go through. They can keep calling but Im not talking to anybody if they are trying to run a scam.

I live in New Mexico and have gotten phone calls from a New Mexico number telling me to call this 614 number and that it is from a Sandra Wall. Originally the message would be a man telling me to call an 800 number. They both said they were arbitrators. I have the number saved so I can see how often they are calling, but they call when I'm at work so I don't answer the phone. I am currently paying a pay day loan but I deal directly with that company. It's just really annoying.

They claimed today to be some arbitrator and that they will forward the case to El Paso County, Texas court.  I told them to do it.
They are bill collectors without any real experience.  The debt they are trying to collect is over 15 years old and it is uncollectable.  Whoever owned the debt originally sells it and it keeps getting sold over and over and each party that buys it trys to collect it.
Tell the to go f themselves if they call you.

I have been receiving calls from this number for my father (who does not live with me) stating that he needs to appear in court in the county where he lives, and he mentions federal and state law in a nonchalant kind of way.  The area code (614) seems to be from Columbus, OH, and we live in TX... He did not give a name for the company or office he worked for, but the name we are given is James Moss.

they are calling me too. in fact the messages that they are leaving on my family members is somewhat disturbing.  they are saying first of all that im being investigated for fraud... now if im being investigated for fraud WHY would you be calling references that i put down on a payday loan!  second if this is true then i dont think the proper way to find information out about me would be to leave it on a message!  anyway until i have something in writing they can continue to call. i have already contacted the district attorney's office and told them about the messages and they assured me that there is nothing under my name and that if in the future if something comes through there office they would send information in a form of a formal letter! they also wanted the names and numbers of which these people are calling me and my relatives!

i received a call from this number last week.  They said I was a reference on a loan application.  I have never heard of the name of the person applying for the loan so I have no idea why they would have put me on a loan application?  The 614 number people said they'd remove my info from the file and ended the call.  I was going to call back to get the name of the person again to futher investigate but then saw the messages on this site and am unsure of what if anything to do next.

You do not have to prove who YOU are...make them prove you owe this debt.   They called my friend, who has someone using his address and phone number, and charging things. (They both have the same name, but live in different states).  My friend is 83, the crook is 41.  My friend told them HE doesn't have this debt, and what was happening was the crook is using the wrong address and phone number.  They also said they were with Hanson Law Firm out of Chicago.  (Could be a debt collector hired by that firm...but they are out of Ohio).

So, not to worry...if you don't have any such debt....do not send them any information.  Tell them it's not you, and let them prove it is.

Do NOT call them back.  It isn't your debt.  They have the wrong info, or the wrong person.  Tell them that, and they should not call you back.  If they do...it's against the law.  They seem to be a collection agency.  See my response to Cheryl.
