It was Verizon.  I had requested my number be swapped from current carrier over to Verizon.

It is Verizon and it is legitimate. They called me back about a number that I was porting from Boost over to their service.

I just got a call from this number. If it is Verizon, I dont know why they'd call me. I have AT&T...  Sounds fishy.

This is this Verizon port department. You cannot call them back at this number and they do not identify it at Verizon because it is only an outgoing number. This department checks calls and transfers accounts. I just finished a transaction with them.

Seriously, Are you that stupid not to realize that it is a scam. Its a slamming company. Try pushing the button for customer service and see what happens. OMG!

its verizon, they call you when its in their interest to sell you a new contract, E.G. your great price is now going to metered if they can just get you to say OK......

I called the number.   It's Verizon Wireless.

This is NOT Verizon. After I received a call saying a child has been calling from my number and hanging up on the customer service reps I called 611. The guy i talked to looked up the number and said it is NOT a Verizon number. This is the second time I've been called and told a child is calling from my number. First time was a male, this time a female. Generally in the past if it is Verizon calling the caller ID will say so.

I called back and the number was "not available in my calling area" and it directed me to call a different (and perhaps REAL Verizon number) ... legitimate my @ss

What a dumb name.  The number is real and is from Verizon Wireless customer service center.

Got a call on my Sprint/Nextel cell phone saying they needed more information from me to change my service over to Verizon.  I did not request that my service be changed.

I'm guessing whoever is saying this is a legitimate # could be "one of them."

I received an unexpected phone call from "Verizon" saying they wanted to review my calling plan.  They proceeded to ask for the last 4 of my social.  I told her I wouldn't give that information over the phone, and she hung up.  I have been a Verizon customer for 5+ years and never received a call like this before.

Very peculiar!  Do not give them any information!  A lot of people use Verizon, and a lot of people switch providers.  I think someone is phishing for information... and none of the previous comments has convinced me otherwise.

This # is form Verizon Porting Department. I am switching from Helio/Virgin Wireless to Verizon. They wanted to verify my information before completing Porting (Caring my number) over to Verizon. The call back number was 877-567 4899.

This is a legit deal.

This is Verizon, I got a call from them today when trying to port my number over from AT&T. There had been a typo on the initial paper work that they needed to correct to complete the transfer. For those saying they received a call when they have not attempted to change service, it probably resulted from an error entering another users request with a similar number that gets mistyped.

This is Verizon Customer Service, and the person I dealt with today was troubleshooting a billing problem I had with Verizon.  The call from this number was very helpful!

This number is from Verizon Wireless customer service/set-up service. They called me back when we accidently got disconnected while setting up my new phones from verizon wireless. They were very friendly and helpful.

My call history shows an incoming call from this number, but I don't recall talking to anyone with that number

This phone number calls on my Alltel cell phone Service several time a day and actually left a message which was a surprise...It is Verizon and they asking for more info about me in order to change the Service even I did not requested anything!!!

this sounds like a scam but verizon does have a major customer support center in the 615 area code - nashville tenn
