Number has called me twice. Definitely a scam

Past due on Verizon account.   Told them that was impossible as I do not have Verizon.  I said This call is being recorded for.....click

Receiving phone calls daily from this number. I never answer phone numbers I don't recognize, so I have no idea who is calling because they don't leave a voice message.  I received another call from an 857 area code (also Boston) I didnt answer that call either, but they did leave an automated voicemail stating they were Verizon calling in reference to my specific phone number, which is odd because I am part of a family plan, and the payment is sent in one lump sum each billing period, so if I am not current, none of the other numbers on my family account would be either. Besides I am always current on my phone bill. It has to be a scam. What say you Verizon Wireless?

Total SCAM. I have received calls every day from 3 different numbers. One of which is the one you mentioned. I cpick up and it is a automated message. I hold on the line for a real person to talk to, when they talk they say I am over due on payment. This is not true as we have automatic payment plan. Then they don't know what to say in response. I called them out and asked if you are scamming me and they hang up. They still call me using different telephone numbers. All saying the same thing. NEVEr give personal info to anyone. If in doubt call Verizon directly not from a cold caller.

Number 617-830-4490 keeps calling me and harassing me. Very annoying as I run a business.

Made complaint to Verizon about harassing phone calls.  Next thing I knew, I started to get more harassing phone calls from "Verizon".  617-830-4490 only learning this may be fake.

Here's my question: isn't quite a coincidence that I made a complaint to Verizon about harassing phone calls (they incorrectly had my in their system for having a very overdue bill when it was not the case).  My guess this is from someone in Verizon even if it isn't technical Verizon.

Actually, this is not a scam, and yes, they do leave a message. I knew I was past due on my Verizon Wireless bill, and that's why I wasn't picking it up. They have been calling for three days, and yes, they left a message with my information in it and a way to pay. Since I have paid my bill today finally, online (not using the automated system or talking to anyone at 617-830-4490), I don't expect to be called again. If I get any more calls, I will post here to refute my claim. If I don't get any more calls, after I know I paid online myself, that will show it was a legitimate call.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY A SCAM IT IS NOT "TOTALLY LEGIT" and I wonder if "Josh" is part of this scam team. I have been getting calls from this and other  numbers like it for a few weeks now. I've started looking them up online and everyone is tagged as a Verizon scam or some other bill collector scam. The phone service is provided by a third party seller which means they buy phone service in bulk from Verizon, who is the only company who owns the lines, and resell it to customers for a profit. Deregulation of the utilities allowed for third party sellers, the gas and electric company have to do the same thing. So you have to ask yourself if this was "Totally LEGIT!" as Josh recently posted why would Verizon be paying DSCI Corporation for phone service when they are one of the largest telecommunications companies in the country? The answer is they wouldn't. Also when Verizon calls you they leave an automated message if you don't pick up and this call never does. I keep blocking them, which is one of the few features I like about the new IPhone operating system, but they have a bunch of different numbers I guess eventually I'll get them all. To be safe  don't ever give your credit card number out to anyone who calls you. You can always make a payment online or hang up and dial 611. This way you will know you are talking to Verizon. Scam artist suck preying on working class people who can barely meet their legitimate bills. Literally taking food out of the mouths of their victims kids rather than finding a legitimate way to make a living. We can only hope there is a special place in hell for these scum bags!

Totally LEGIT! I did not answer the calls because though I have a Boston number, I do not know anyone from Boston (I was moving to Boston, didn't work out).

I called the number back. It was automated Verizon system. The "woman" told me the amount of my passed due bill. I was given the option to pay over the phone or online at verizon.com.

I logged into my account and the passed due balance was correct.

I don't understand how they can do this?  I've gotten several calls from this number in the past and two today I'm thinking next time they call I'm going to pick it up and say nothing just let it sit idle (use their minutes).  

I have received a phone call every day- twice a day for over three weeks now of these "Verizon" calls.  I called the Verizon & Verizon said this is a scam.  People have been calling saying they are from Verizon and saying you owe money, but of course when you give them info or credit card, it isn't going to Verizon.  Don't give out your info.  STOP THE INSANITY

This is a FAKE bill collector claiming to be from Verizon.   DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD!

This is Verizon Wireless stalking people who are past due.

this number called me at the same time, 2 men were ringing my door bell ( didnt answer)... I have no issues to worry about but cops is all I can think about!

This number calls my cell phone, we have NO CLUE who it might be.

My wife and I have received a few of these "Verizon" calls.  My wife called the Verizon number on our bill, and Verizon said this is a scam.  People have been calling saying they are from Verizon and saying you owe money, but of course when you give them info or credit card, it isn't going to Verizon.  Don't give out your info.

Then why are they calling me? I don't have Verizon Wireless. I never did.
