This # also called my husbands cell back on 10/16. We have been trying to call it back every once in a while since then. Also did the Google search. Today I called the # & got a recording, it was a sweet old lady saying that someone stole her ID & that she hasn't called anyone. This is ridiculous! We have also gotten calls in the past month from 1 507 345 5596 & 540 350 4194. Called my cell phone provider (AT&T) & they suposedly put a solicitor block on our phones but we keep getting wierd calls. Very annoying!

Marjorie Gilbert most likely  has nothing to do with this "warranty" call everyone is getting.  Her number has been stolen to be used as a way to show up as a legit number on people's cell phones. Please leave her alone and do not call the number back, she has probably been harassed double what any of us have been because of these automated calls.  Just call your phone company or repot it to the Federal Communications Commission being sure to tell them that the call is not from the number that is showing up in your caller ID.

Everyone,

Marjorie has gone to the local police department with no immediate results.  I've called the Boston FBI on her behalf with no luck (yet), although they were very nice about the whole thing.

Does anyone here have solid information on how best to handle these situations?    How can we work together to catch these morons?  Let's figure this out together, put somebody in prison, and post the instructions for victims of caller ID spoofing so we can stop this.

I'm working to get in touch with our state's Senators to escalate these issues, and use this case as a model to create protection for everyone else.  I'd love to have a nice photo of the scammers on their way to prison hanging on Marjorie's wall.

So again, we're asking for your help and ideas on how to draw the line and stop this.

Thanks,

JS

This number shows up in my caller ID as: Claude Gilbert.

Whenever a telemarketer # shows up on my cell phone, I add it to my "spam" group (s) & set it to "NO RING" so if they ever call back, I never pick up by mistake.

Hey everyone,

I've used this site a number of times when I get similar calls, and I can empathize with those of you being harassed by repeat calls.

Oddly, I know quite a bit about this one and I'm writing on behalf of the alleged caller.  I know Marjorie personally.  She's elderly and is definitely not calling you.  Her number is being used by some caller ID spoofers that are apparently selling scam car warranties.  The calls are not originating from her line and calling her won't do anything useful.  She's received many, many threatening calls and messages, which are intimidating to a 70+ yr old woman.

So please DO call the FCC and anyone else that can help, but add the piece of information that at least one person has told you that the caller ID is being spoofed.  Marjorie uses that phone number for her pageant, which you can easily verify by Google-ing it.  She's had that number for 50+ years and would like to keep it, but it is unusable the moment due to the volume of calls.

So again, calling the number is pointless, but please do call the FCC or anyone else that can help.  I'm trying to help Marjorie, so if you know about the best way to catch spoofers, please post it here.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Sorry about the double posting.

Has anyone checked out Spoofcard.com?  it's a phone card service where you can call anyone and ANY number you want will come up on their caller ID  AS WELL as the name of the person the number actually belongs to.

YOu can even change your voice from male to female and record the phone call.

I got a call today about an hour ago from 617-969-5837. Luckily I missed the call and googled it to find this thread. I called from my work phone which has caller ID but the line is constantly busy. I saved the number on my cell as "SCAM! DO NOT PICK UP!" so that I don't accidentally pick it up next time and get charged. This other # 888-241-2102 once called me and ended up charging me $9.45 on my credit card, so be aware of these damn scams!

Just got the same call from them.  I don't answer these unknown calls anymore because it is most likely a scam.  There was an article out here in CA with regards to people who were calling about warranties and the warranties being a total fraud and scam.  Beware

this number is for some person who bought a phone list and is trying to solicit warranty sales. Be very careful about disclosing information to this person, and if you are interested in a warranty for your vehicle then visit your local dealer, it provides a safer way to get quality service.

they are criminals, the do-not-call law does not apply to them.

they only thing important to them is their time and your money

depending on my mood I will hang up, or waste their time and annoy them.

seems like 90% of this is a pitch now car warranty insurance, last year it was burial insurance.

Yeah I just got a call from them too.  This is the second time I got a random call from a number that people online claimed was some sort of car warranty I never picked up either one to find out though.  Is their any way to report it to my cell phone company?

I got the same number on my cell.  This has happened several times.
I am getting the same thing on my land line
somehow they are able to spoof the caller ID.

Most likely this is a criminal operation claiming to sell auto repair warranty.
If they get your credit card number, they are done with you, on to the next sucker.
