I had a call from this number. Didn't bother to answer as it said it was from Carbondale, IL.
I thought why the hell would somebody ring me from there if not to sell me something or scam me.
I live in the UK.
I'm assuming my number has been sold by a company in Vegas as I recently went there and the calls from the USA have only started since then.
just got this call today 01/03/14..it was concerning my computer and had an accent..i told him to kiss it and he said YO kiss it..lol..
Same number called me and claimed to be a promoter of an exhibition which is going to be held within a month. First with some bulls**t information about the current market then move to sponsorship fee.
I asked him to send me email about the exhibition and he refused, so i said I had no interests of attending, then he hung up.
Another thing, when i asked him why he's calling from us, he said he's calling from a skype phone.
I got a call today for the Indian who said he was from Microsoft an my computer had a virus and lots of problems. He Sid to,let him guide me through it and he would show me all the problem.
I told him Microsoft wold not know if I had any issues and would not call me and if they find it wold only be in response o my contacting them.
He assured me he was from Microsoft so I told him i was not dtupid and to go fu*# himself and hungup.
Dumb a** !!
Same as others. I played along too. funny thing is that I'm on a Mac. No Windows here. Idiot! Talked down to me because I'm female. I tripped him up a couple of times. Clearly more tech savvy them him.
I received the same call claiming they are microsoft certified technicians and they received an error from my computer. They said the company was KBPC Doctor or something like that. Connection was very poor (obviously linked from overseas). Had my name and address. Gave me a phone number to call back that was 408-987-3650. There was no answer at that number.
Just got off the phone with the same person. He was mouthing back at me. But I asked him since when do Microsoft call you for error reports, he just kept telling me to listen to him. I also told him I was in the middle of cooking and he asked when will be a better time to call, and I said the next time I get another error, then he said ok.
I got the same call today from 618 529 9047. the man on the phone was Trying to get me to turn on my computer so he could help me fix my windows based computer. So i played along. I never turned on my computer. I ended the conversation by telling him i do not have a windows based computer in my home. than the man on the phone said he must of had the the wrong phone number. Which was weird because he knew my name. How do e catch these guys?
Picked up since the caller ID said payphone in case it was a friend needing help. Ended up being a heavily accented man telling me the US Gov't wanted to give me a grant of some kind.
I got an Indian/Pakistani accented call, but they pretended to be a "Microsoft Tech Support" organization of some kind, and claimed my computer was causing problems on the internet. He offered to guide me through the steps needed to fix the problem. As soon as he said "Are you in front of your computer?" it confirmed my suspicions that it was an attempt to get access to my machine. I pretended to play along, but I asked for his phone number so I could call him back. He gave me my own number! And when I pointed that out, he rang off.
