My sister got one of these calls today and totally wiged out. Called my 84 year old mother needing $5000 within 45 minutes or face 10 years. Once she explained everything to me I was sure it was a scam. So, I called the number and asked for this David Justice , got the a hole and proceded to beg him to send the agents the her house.... and after a few unmentionable words he Hung up. What cowards. I have since called and left a variety of goofy voice mails just to screw with them and vent my displeasure.

These guys are in the Deminican Republic.  It is a scam and has been going on for years.  The use lots of numbers.  Do a search on phone numbers for DEA scam.  There are pages of this stuff.  Blow a whistle in his ear everytime he calls.

Prank Call
I received a call today from a David Justice....I have been getting calls like this since April but all from different numbers.  I screen my calls here at home so when he started to leave a message I was fumming.  I picked up the phone and told him to stop calling me.  He said "EXCUSE ME!!!"  I said you heard me stop calling me, you people call me all the time and I am aware of this scam.  Apparently, he had nothing to say to that cause he hung up on me.  Yeah, what DEA person would have hung up on you.... these people are low lifes.

I contacted my local police department back in April when the first call came in and they did nothing.  So good luck.  I feel sorry for the people that dont know about this scam and get sucked in.  It scared me the first time but thank goodness for the internet.

Wow Scott... These guys definitely have to be stopped. I filed a complaint with the FTC. I didn't think to call the police probably cause they called me at work - the last thing I need is trouble at work with police officers coming. I know that is a shameful thought but with another round of layoffs coming at work - I really don't want to draw attention to myself. I may go to the police department on my lunch tomorrow to file a complaint. I googled impersonating a federal agent - 3 years prison + fines. It would be awesome for these guys to be put in the slammer. As I mentioned before - I'm confident that they ard not in the US because impersonating an officer and bullying people they way they do is really super bold!!! When the so called Captain called me back and left a voicemail he still had the same threats - police coming to my work to arrest me and officers going to my house to tear it apart if I didn't call him back right away. Pretty bold for a con artist to freely hand out a phone number - leave threats on a voicemail. I can't see how these scam artists are in this country - way too bold even for a criminal!!!

I googled the main number of the DEA in San Diego - btw, that's where they told me I would be brought to after they arrested me... Anyways, they didn't even come close to the phone number - diff area code and exchange. It seems like they try to get people hooked within minutes to fork over money - if people actually had a few minutes to think about the intimidation and bully tactics - they may actually figure it out. What officer is going to tell me that I can't call my lawyer - duh!!!

I wonder how many people they scared into giving them money. I told the story to my 21 year old son because he would be scared enough to send them money without thinking. He's young and the guy would have scared the ba-jeebers out of my son.

Good luck Scott - let us know how you make out!!!

My wife received 9 of these calls today from 3:49 pm through 5:00 pm mountain time.  Same M.O., menacing, intimidating, and very adamant that she was about to be the subject of a federal arrest and investigation...  Point is, I contacted the State Police, who referred me to the US Atty. General's office.  The attorney I spoke with is currently contacting the DEA and the FBI, as it is a federal offense to impersonate a federal officer of any kind.  He suggested that we contact local law enforcement to ensure public record of harassment.  The local authorities are en route to our home now, where we will file a formal complaint.  This is simply a scam, and hopefully, one of these agencies will catch up to them.

Christopher Torres called me today... He was very intimidating!!! It eventually got to be so intimidating and bullying that I knew it had to be a scam. Told him I was at work and couldn't talk - also that I would like to call my attorney since I was becoming very scared. He told me that it I called my attorney - don't bother calling him back. He was going to send the police to my work - arrest me in front of my co-workers and then search my home. I got off the phone - he wanted me to call him back right away. Needless to say I called my attorney - my attorney told me it was probably a scam and if they called back / give them m attorneys number. Anyways got back to my desk - 3 missed calls from them and one voicemail. The vm was from Captain David Justice  with similar threats. Saved the voicemail - and filed a complaint at www.ftc.gov/complaint - of course I provided th detailed info Torres made me write down name, unit, badge and docket numbers (my guess is that he made me write it down and repeat for intimidation). No phone calls since - it looks like the name of the game is to scare people within minutes of the conversation to hand over money - before people have a chance to think about it or call their attorney. Go to FTC and file a complaint. My guess is that they are not in this country - do you know how many years in prison they could get for impersonating a federal officer... Don't think they are in reach of the US law.

This morning I received a telephone call from a man identifying himself as a "DEA" agent. He called from: (619) 209-8542. I told him he caught me at an inconvenient time as I was just walking out the door. He then asked where I was going? I replied, "Excuse me?" He repeated the question. I informed him it was none of his concern as to where I planned to go. He then demanded to know when I would be available to talk to him and his superiors. By this time, I was becoming quite annoyed by this obvious imposter and his web of lies.. I then told him to address me as Mrs. _____, and not by my first name as he had been doing throughout our conversation.

After a few moments, he sputtered/stuttered/stammered, and finally spit out an apology and for the remainder of our conversation, he correctly addressed me as I had requested. I suggested he call back in approximately 2 hours. He said that my schedule wasn't his problem and if I refused to talk with him right here, and right now, there would be serious consequences for my actions, and the next time we chatted, I should plan to have my attorney present, because I was certainly going to need one. I said, "OK, I'll take my chances, buh-bye," and I quickly hung up the phone. It has now been well over the 2 hour period and I haven't heard anything else from the "DEA". LOL

Btw, the man I talked to did not give me his name, he spoke with fairly heavily accented English and did not converse very intelligently at all  -- poor grammar, limited vocabulary, shoddy sentence structure, muffled words, etc. He sounded more like one of the bad guys on a television show. He certainly didn't sound college educated, or even close to how a professional law enforcement agent would/should sound (IMO). Especially if he wants someone to fall for his scam!

It's currently 3pm where I live on the east coast -- I just left a voice mail with the real DEA, at least I think they're the real ones!!! ROFL!! I left my name and telephone number, a brief version of the above conversation, and asked them to look into this scam and to please get back to me. Hopefully they will and can tell us how they want us to respond to these characters when they call demanding "money-for-leniency." I'll let everyone know if/when I hear back from the DEA.

Misty, it happened to me today just as you said.  Exactly! 2/17/12  Christopher Torres calling with a doc number, badge number, warrant.  First Time Offenders Program and must pay $3000 to enroll or at least 10% through a Wal-Mart Green Dot Money Card.  Trying to scare you to death.  If you don't pay and enroll in the program, you will be arrested and prosecuted.
Phone number used was 619-209-8542.

Has anyone received a call from Garces Cheyenne or Christopher Torres saying that there is a warrant out for your arrest?  Once they scare you to death saying that the Federal Marshall's are on there way to arrest you they call a second time and ask if you want to enroll in a First Time Offenders program to "make it all go away.". This is wrong and we need to get together and fight this!
