Just got this call.. very similar to a call I got a few days ago, with the exception that the other had a FOUR-DIGIT PHONE NUMBER (1585)!  I've had Vonage for a few months, and transferred my previous phone number.

Would like to know if this is at all related to being a Vonage customer.. anyone else?

I called and left a message with the Conorado police department's investigative seargent, Elizabeth.  I havent heard back, but if you wanna do the same, her number is 619-522-2620

When I played the answering machine, there was a frantic lady at the other end of the phone.  She hadn't even waited until the answering machine was finished....that's how I knew it was a rcorded message.  She had I had to press "1" to clear this up immediatel but didn't state "WHAT" or "2" to pay.  I lked up the number and found this.  I am on the "Do Not Call" list andhave been ever since the list came out.  Who are these CRAZY people and how do we stop them.

Thet started talking before the answering machine kicked in, but kept saying "press 1 now to take care of this urgernt matter" they also said something about being liable for all repairs if this issue wasn't settled immediately. I tried to call the number back but only got a message saying this number had been disconnected. If it is disconnected, how are they calling from it?

The phone rang and it showed up as Coronado, CA. They said that my vechicle's warranty was close to expiring and that they were calling because I hadnt responded to their extended warranty plan. When I verified my vechicle and that is had 33000 miles, they stated that the extended warranty was only good if the vechicle only had 30000 or less miles but that they would extend the mileage this time. When I told them that I had purchased an extended warranty when I bought the car from the dealership, they asked how many years it was good for and stated that they didnt have that on their records and would have to contact the dealership to get updated information and get it straightened out and that they would call me back once they verified everything. I asked for a number to call them back to find out the status, but as soon as I asked that, they had hung up.  My extended warranty on my vechicle is not with this company and I do believe they were a scam.

Same as Adam. I don't even own a car.  If we know the company name and location, they can be fined $11,000 for each violation of federal advertising laws.

I picked up and it was an autimated message with an excited lady saying that we need to clear up a matter with my car warrenty, (by my cars have been out of warrenty for a long time) and she urged me to push "1" to get it cleared up right away.  Pretty sure this is telephone fraud - how do we get these guys?

Same thing as above--hang up when I ask to be removed, and nothing when I try to call back.  Next time they call, I am going to have some fun--I plan to take at least 15 minutes to get every tiny detail of their plan, then tell them to take me off their list or I will waste their time this way every time they call.  I encourage others to play along.

I received a recorded message about settling an isuue, a debt, that I know doesn't exist.  I was unable to call bac. I star 69 the number, called it and got an out of service message.  This is a scam.....

they left a message, but no call back number....if you try to call the number left on caller ID you get a message that the number is disconnected or no longer in service.

I got a call from a lady about an ungent matter. To clear it up press 1.  
When I pressed 1 the phone went dead.  She spoke so fast that I could not
understand every thing she said.  How do you report this?  I feel there is
something wrong here.  'Not Available' was listed in place of name.

Everyone should report it on the DNC website (thanks to those who posted the link!).
I've also been on the DNC list since 2003.

I have about 3-4 years left on my auto warranty (based on mileage).  I've also received letters about extending my warranty as it will soon expire.

Same as above only the message didn't say it was a matter with my car warranty.  They said that I needed to get this matter cleared up right away or I would be responsible for the repairs. I filed a complaint with the Do Not Call registry.  This stuff can ruin a day.  Thank goodness for this site - my husband and I were headed for a fight over who the call was intended for.

My father received this same call today. It is very upsetting and these people should be stopped!!!  We will file a complaint! He is on the Do Not Call List.

I got the same "urgent" message that my warranty (on what?!) was about to expire and to press "2" to pay and to press "1" to clear this matter up immediately. I didn't do anything for a few seconds and then pressed "1".The line imeediately went dead silent. Tried to call back (busy) and then when I tried it again I was connected to what sounded like a fax machine.

I intend to call Verizon on Monday (they are closed for the weekend) and have the number blocked and also to inform them that I will NOT be responsible for any charges that this scam may be linked to in some devious way!

I love the idea of answering the phone with these "unknown" names ad numbers with "Sherrif's Department - Telephone Fraud Investigation Division"! That just might have at least a few of them take my number off their lists (but deep down inside, I doubt it!) (lol)

Same thing as above. Caller ID only said MARKETING with the phone number as listed above.

I received the same phone call this morning and I too am on the Do Not Call list.  I pressed #1 thinking I could talk to someone and tell them to stop calling, but nothing happened.  I'm going to file a complaint on the website and also with the police officer mentioned in Adam's message on Feb. 21.  I suggest everyone do the same.

I submitted a complaint at the Do Not Call Registry.  Hope they put these guys in irons!

The number 619-215-9501 is a verizon # in Coronado California. The police department there cannot take a complaint directly unless you live in that town. They ask that you call your local police department and ask them to take a courtesy complaint and forward it to the Coronado police Department. The Coronado police # is  619-522-7390 fax 619-435-1329.  Once you have the police complaint # call the Verizon abuse line  1-800-518-5507 (They don’t work on weekends). They will listen to you once they find out you have a police complaint #.
This is the only way we are going to stop them.

I have to tell you that I recently purchased a car (under warranty) and this alerted me.  I think they are especially preying on those, with the luck of the draw, who have recently purchased a vehicle.  Also- the same message calls from a Miami, FL number: 305-260-6607.  

I have received (from both numbers) the cut off phone message of the high strung woman for a couple of days in a row.

They call and hang up on my machine.  I do not answer calls that say "unavailable" on my caller ID.....  I like that, "sheriffs office, whats your emergency?"
